    Do not grieve, my child
Look around and you will see,
That the sky is still blue
    And the sun still shines
And the birds still sing the praises of Allah
And the evergreen flowers still kindly bloom
And when darkness falls, the night awakens
By the glorious moon and the twinkling stars
And the breeze still blows to clear the air
The trees still shed leaves to enrich the earth
The rain still falls and the rivers still flow
And the grass is still fresh and green
The hens still lay the gorgeous eggs
And the cows still provide the nourishing milk
And the cat still purrs, while the dog still barks
And the female still carries the miracle
As the babies still cry and suckle
And when I smile at you
    You smile back to me
So ponder upon the beautiful creation of our Lord
At the break of dawn and the coming of dusk
For in contemplation and remembrance of Allah
    The Creation finds the sanctuary
And our faith is surely strengthened
While our hearts rest in peace
And whilst you read the Kalimah beloved
The world will not reach the end

I'm from Belarus (despite my Bangladeshi name). Although our Muslim community is over six centuries old, it's very small, numbering perhaps 30,000 people in all, which is less than 1% of our population. We certainly don't have one of the largest Muslim populations in Europe. Russia is a different story.

Thank you so much for sharing the good news of reminding the Muslim ummah that they are the people of mercy and healing.
    Absolutely right,
اذ قال الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم:
"كنتم خير امة اخرجت للناس تامرون بالمعروف وتنهون عن المنكر."
There is no time for playing the victim when Allah is on our side. Our duty is to spread the mercy of Allah through knowledge first:
    فاقد الشىء لا يعطيه.
The 80, 000 manuscripts that are perishing in Timbuktu, are useless without Muslim thinkers who bring them back to life.
Thank you so much for your call to Islam revival by the new generation. Our times are in dire need of a young generation who will guide the ship of salvation towards a shore of mercy and healing.

Dr. AbudlHakim educating people about the contribution of Muslim renaissance is not out of an inferiority complex its about educating people of the essence of Islam. For example; a dude learning philosophy said he learnt about Thomas Aquinas but nothing on how the later adpated his whole philosophy from Avveros the Westren Muslim philosopher! Please elaborate on this point more!

I enjoyed this lecture and it is a topic I have been following closely so I apologise for the length of this reflection. I do believe being leaders in the "Green Deen" will certainly place the ummah in a position of active servitude through a frame of reference (environmentalism) that has cultural capital within the discourses of the contemporary godless melding pot. However, I also believe climate action should only be an entrypoint through which we centre Islam and not the planet. We should not attempt to weld an intellectually lazy hollow version of climate action with some Muslim veneer to the existing discourse gaining dominance. This will mean falling into the same trappings many Muslims did as they attempted to appropriate Islam to have it suit the now crumbling discourses underlying the liberal world order. As the noble Sheikh has pointed out, those Muslims are only just beginning to realise the ride they were taken on. Unless we are astute and proud of our deen, I fear our thought leaders will be taken for another ride very soon. The sustainability and climate discourse/agenda is dangerous to hop on board willy nilly UNLESS we define it, or at least contribute to it on our own terms. This cannot be to solely to protect the Earth for future generations, but as the Sheikh has suggested, rather to protect an element of tajalli/worship for future generations. Despite our depravity, which even the angels forsesaw, the Earth and everything on it was ultimately adorned for the sake of humankind. We cannot lose sight of that truth in our desire to protect the planet. We are not and cannot become some Gaia/Nature worshipping cult as our tradition becomes hollowed out from within.Tawheed must underly every exertion we make on this planet. Although the climate crisis is a real threat and a pressing need, I fear at risk of sounding conspiratorial, that the dominant Western discourse has already been co-opted by the likes of the WEF and the UN. Some Christians are very acutely aware of the dangers this poses for the ideological survival of the people of the book. We need to become more privy if we are going to contribute/protect ouselves from this discourse, because in essence, this is again an issue of truth, values and meaning- this is where the real battle always has and always will be fought/thought. If "sustainability" and "green" is equated with reducing the carbon footprint, and we as carbon based organisms are included in that meaning, how will we reconcile this with our need to continue having children and families as Muslims? Is not the dropping birth rate then welcomed in terms of this radical tawil of "sustainability"? The dominant green discourse tells us we should consume less meat and we can surely say, "No problem, the Prophet sws hardly ate meat anyway." But how will we respond when the demands of that dominant discourse continue to encroach on our basic rituals? We're going to start passing fatwas for the 3D printing of our Qurban meat so we are no longer polluting through our need to slaughter animals? It is important to respect the honour Islam places on the flora/and fauna without losing sight of the honour Islam places on the human being. In short, we will have to be careful with what a "green deen" will come to mean if we are not intellectually robust. If we mindlessly follow another emerging grand narrative down the lizard hole, I fear that we can certainly make a deen that is more green but it will unlikely have any resemblance to Islam except in name.

There are days when you want to learn about your Faith only by those who were first taught how to speak and not to compare if something was either invented either by a British or Muslim or any other.Every nation have their smart intellectuals and those who spend most of the time looking after their children but please do not under value them based on their colour of skin or Faith or nationality….we have enough problems as is.It’s about time we really embraced our common values and have a mentality that nothing is invented until a white man or any other person discovered it because he or she was smarter then other people half way around the world

I have come to expect no less from our dear Shaykh than eloquence, depth, thought provoking and the purest of knowledge mashallah. However, I wish he didn't use the term "Climate Change" which is very misleading. The problem that we're facing is a systematic destruction of our natural habitat by the greedy global capitalist, who in turn labels it "Climate change" and accuses us the common man as being the cause of it. Nothing is more further from the truth! "Climate Change" is a generic term that is being used to put more restrictions, taxation and control in our lives and livelihood, much worst than those we've witnessed with the so called pandemic! The global capitalist is very destructive force that is going to leave us with nothing of our humanity and that is what we should mobilize against. Sorry if I have offended anybody...

very true, a ruse to lay the blame and manufacture the guilt at the feet of the common person whilst the banquet of fat greedy elites continues unabated. Not to say it is not real, it very much is real. But it is the the product of the greed of unhinged materialism pursued at any cost, planet included, by a few who are using this as a diversion tactic. Just examine the marketing and PR activity of the fossil fuel corporations over the past 2 decades if you are in any doubt.
For example who thought it was a good idea to put tiny plastic particles in cosmetics? it doesn't take more than the intelligence of a child to understand this is destructive. But if you do not believe you will be brought to account and you have no shame then do as you wish.

Indeed, Muslims cannot belong in the political right or left, neither can Muslim Salafism/Wahabism or Barelvi, Deobandi juristic wars save them. The indeed need to regain the middle ground. But how can they do that at all without reviving one of the central tenets of Islam - Jihad e Fi Sabeelillah? I request CMC and Prof. Murad to also shine some light on thia very neglected ideal by the "Muslim middle".
