this is a 30 minute beast, but there’s so much to make, and to talk about!! did you have a favorite, and is there another 24 hours challenge you want to see?
Maybe food from the anime “food wars”? It has some weird “elements” if you know what I mean but the food does look delicious! Amazing video btw Avatar is one of the best shows ever made!
I disagree Netflix didn't do a good job. Whether it's the script or bad/inexperienced actors the acting and delivery of dialogue felt unnatural and cold and the characters especially uncle iroh and soka don't have the same charm they had in the original animated series. Not to mention it feels like they assume the audience is stupid and seem to spoon feed plot points to us. Not to mention it feels like less happens the long live action episodes than in the shorter cartoon episodes
I actually laughed at Sokka's jokes and his expressions, and I cried in many uncle Iroh's scenes. the script could be better, but this is a massive upgrade from the movie and at least a fun show. many people who hasn't watched the OG actually felt the expositions quite helpful, although I agree they could tone it down in that part. Og show watchers tend to be very critical about this part as they already know the story for years, but actually, even Katara's exposition intro is played in the beginning of all 61 episodes and people r okay with it. It does feels less happens in the 1 hr format show vs 20 minutes episodic show because you dont have room to breathe like the 20 mins show.(no breaks) the 20 mins show only covers 1 story each episodes and is literally a kids animation show, you get time to breathe in and absorbing the show doesn't feel as heavy, whereas live action show has to mashed 3 animated episodes stories to 1 episodes and connect the plot to have the same motive and lesson + it being live action the feel is gonna be grander and heavier, so naturally 1 hr show would feel less longer than what it actually is because of the packed storyline. for the troubles and budget they got, they did a good job, 7.5/10.@@benmorris7276
@@Sokkawakkawakaa I grew up watching the original I felt with the Netflix adaptation that his jokes didn't really land the same and he was missing his charm the delivery just felt cold or poorly acted. With uncle iroh net Flix seemed to make his character too serious he lacked his care free charm and insightful wisdom. The writing on the live action just didn't land well. And trying to mash 3 episodes into one does not work at all this is just my opinion I do not find that Netflix did the last Airbender justice with this live action adaptation I get that they tried to make it more serious and adult but my stuffing 3 different episodes of plot in to one episode it made it feel like they had to spoon feed plot points to the audience. If they just stuck to 1 or episodes of plot I feel they could have added more details and painted a bigger picture. But also the chemistry with the cast just wasn't there and the acting felt cold, unnatural and forced

The fire flakes is very similar to a traditional South Indian snack, we call it "Sandige" in my language. But we don't add shrimp stock to it. We just boil the tapioca pearls with water, salt and cumin seeds, scoop small quantities on a large piece of cloth or plastic sheet and dry it in the sun. Once its completely dried, we fry it in oil and serve it with our meal to snack on the side. Very interesting to see a dish similar to that in your video. Love from India! 🤍
that sounds amazing! i’m from india too, punjab specifically, and i remember how people would dry chillies out in the sun for i’m assuming achar and other things. your comment reminded me of that. good times haha.
the sheer amount of research and effort that's gone into this, my jaw dropped. It was almost indulgent and definitely inspirational to watch how much heart and soul you put into your craft. Hats off Inga, big fan!!
Omg thank you for these absolutely gorgeous renditions of these recipes!! It was so fun chatting with you about the recipe creation process, thank you for the shoutout and this stunning video
I was looking for this comment! I knew the author would be in here. You clearly did a great job on creating these recipes, this was so fun to see since I'm not adventurous enough with my palate!
My heart broke a little over the whole duck going in the broth instead of just the head feet and bones. And i always thought seaprunes were sea cucumbers. I also assumed the purple thing on top of the airnomad pies was ube pudding
THIS IS EVERYTHING!!!!!! Also I forage for wild mushrooms and morels are a highly coveted mushroom. If you eat them fresh on their own sautéed in butter they have a delicious, rich nutty flavor they are wonderful. I have worked in some fine dining places in the kitchen and your technique and these recipes are absolutely wonderful. I am so obsessed with Avatar, it's my comfort show since I was in foster care as a kid and I still play it to this day. The amount of effort and love you put into this video really shows.
this woman is the epitome of a chef. Amazing attention to the details and research. Love the way she describes food and elements of the dish. Greatly dedicated to cooking♡
5:50 it really is amusing to consider how expensive certain dishes can become when contending with ingredients that are not native to your area. My immediate first thought was “who the heck would spend $30 on a bag of morels?” Then I realized morels are kind of considered boujee in areas where you can’t just go mucking in the woods in the early spring to find some. Without remembering precisely where the soup shows up in the show, I’d like to think Katara would consider that soup rather humble and common place for when the ingredients are in season, only to get absolutely shocked at how it would be considered a priceless delicacy in other areas.
Inga this is probably my most favorite video you've ever done. I am a big Avatar fan and grew up watching the show, so all the effort you went through for this was really appreciated!! Phenomenal job!!

When I lived in Wisconsin, I used to pick morel mushrooms with my dad. They sold really well to our community since we were of the very few that bothered doing it. And stir fried morels are probably the best mushrooms I've ever had, and the only mushrooms I enjoy plain. morel mushrooms grow wild all over the place in Oklahoma, you can literally pick them as you're walking thru a tree belt (like a very small growth of threes in the middle of farm/grazing lands). so hearing things like that package of mushrooms was $30 is INSANE to me 😲
So I grew up foraging Morel Mushrooms with my family. They sell for VERY high prices, but we would have our special spots and some years end up with pounds and pounds of fresh morels. If you dredge them in flour and fry them up in butter they have a very meaty texture/taste and pair very well with steak or other richer meats. The best time of year to forage for them is late spring early summer.
In Odisha, India we call the tapioca one sago/sabudana papad, though I have never had the shrimp one it comes in different flavours and that’s one of my favourites side dishes.
It was really good to see you make the Jasmine tea with the flowers; I had never thought of making tea with the flowers before I lived in Chengdu for a year and saw and made it they way they do. But, I will definitely try mixing green tea with Jasmine; great video!
10:18 Taro is incredibly delicious. Next time you have hotpot, try adding a thick slick in mild broth. It should melt in your mouth with little to no resistance, have a starchy texture, and a lightly sweet and earthy flavour. :D (It goes really well with a sesame based dipping sauce)
This woman is the epitome of a chef! Amazing attention to details, research and description of food. This is the live action avatar nobody wanted but everybody needed! The food is gorgeous and tasty no doubt. Also yes uncle Iroh has the best palate of all characters including the hot leaf juice!

NONE of the Instacart or Fresh Direct or any other delivered crap!!!!! That's the cultural education part of this endeavor. Thanks again, Queens NY is the most diverse place in the USA so I won't have any problem finding any of these ingredients although the cost may inhibit some purchases.
I loved this video. I hope you make more recipes from this cookbook. I am a huge fan of Avatar the last Airbender. Bringing their food to Life is so exciting. I didn't know that there was an actual cookbook, I ordered it as soon as you held it up to the camera. I really want to make the stuffed tofu puffs. The cabbage cookies looked amazing. I wonder if adding caraway seeds would add even more flavor to them. The fire nation shrimp crackers looked amazing as well. I love spicy food 🔥
Avatar is my favorite show. I watched it when I was little and ended up rewatching it like 20x, it will never get old especially zuko with long hair lol.
wow! i did not think much of the food in the series, but your video is so good with all the food you made. thank you so much for sharing this with us! 😍😍😍
morels are so expensive at the store, but from what I understand they're actually pretty easy to find out in the wild. I grew up in a forested area and one time me and my sister found some growing by our garage.
Taro is a type of 'vianda' (edible roots) that was a traditional food from Indigenous Caribs, Arahuacos, and Tainos in The Caribbean, is well loved today with 'bacalao' stew and is known as 'malanga'. Same with 'tapioca' also known as cassava root but in Puerto Rico is 'yuca'.
This was awesome! All of the food looked amazing and made me hungry. So glad you’re an Avatar fan. It’s almost impossible not to be. Honestly you’ve always sorta reminded me of Toph and I never really put it together until just now. I’ll bet if you reached out to Michaela Jill Murphy (The voice of Toph) she’d do a collab video with you. Keep up the amazing work!
Yeah people look for morel mushrooms around here in Michigan to sell to restaurants because they can charge a pretty penny. The spots you find them, they come back year after year and those spots are very secretive where people will not share those locations no matter what. And they only grow for about a month a year. We look for them at my husband's parent's woods and then soak in salt water to get any bugs out and then dip in flour and pan fry them and they're so good!

This was such a great video. I hope there will be a part 2 eventually.
Avatar is my favorite show. I watched it when I was little and ended up rewatching it like 20x, it will never get old especially zuko with long hair lol.
Love this so much Inga!!! Fantastic job well done!!! Hope to see more of this type of content!🙌🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Learnt so much from a single video 😮 love these and really appreciate your effort
this makes me want to get the cookbook and do something similar. really makes me wanna eat avatar food
I dont even watch Avatar, but this is really fascinating anyway!
That breakfast soup looks absolutely delicious.
I have seen several people attempt to do this book justice, but I have to say, you have done the best job by far! Bravo! Well done!
wow! i did not think much of the food in the series, but your video is so good with all the food you made. thank you so much for sharing this with us! 😍😍😍
The amount of work that goes into all of your videos is INCREDIBLE! This is amazing
morels are so expensive at the store, but from what I understand they're actually pretty easy to find out in the wild. I grew up in a forested area and one time me and my sister found some growing by our garage.
wow, im impressed. these recipes looks really unique. Thanks for brining these to life. So cool!! A+++ you did a amazing job.
This is so on point as I am rewarching the animated series and I see eveything here from the episodes I was on.
The cook book is soooo good
This was so fun!!! I could have watched another hour of this! Thanks for all ur hard work that went into this !
I’ve made the stewed sea prune soup. I used salmon, cubed chicken bullion, shiitake mushrooms and cabbage. So delicious and comforting.
This was amazing. You could probably have an “Avatar Experience” watch party or pop up restaurant and cater all these foods and make a killing‼️
13:06 the Taro paste looks a little like refried beans and that would probably get me excited
Truly amazing video, Inga!
I appreciate the effort, dedication, and quality of this video. Would love to see it as a series. ( I sense it takes a lot though)
19:04: I hope you deveined the shrimps in this recipe!
As a vegetarian, I would love to see more air nomads food, but your video was great regardless. The different theme music was so nice
Monk gyatsu's fruit pies is very similar to how I make dairy free cheese cake
