debating if i should do another one because there are so many dishes i want to try… any recs?? also wish me luck, hoping i can come back in a month or two with significantly improved French 😤😤😤
I say go for it, Inga. love when you share the recipes you enjoy or are interested in. I notice the joy this genre of cuisine brings you and cant help but smile.❤ bonne chance avec le francais, j'aimerais pratiquer avec vous, si j'avais la chance.
Boiling the bacon also gets the bacon-ness out of it so the dish doesn’t just taste like bacon. Makes a big difference for quiche. Agree about the beef bourguignon being better the next day, to the point that after my last one I thought I should really just consider a day in the fridge to be part of the standard cooking instructions and not even start to eat it until the next day.
Hi! French here. I love seeing such enthusiasm about our delightful cuisine ❤️ At first I was suspicious because very often I see "French food" on TH-cam that does not look like French food. And the I saw you were in France and as soon as I saw the Beurre Bordier I was sure you were on the good path of French cuisine. I live very close to the Bordier factory and try to buy some as soon as I can, but where I live, in Brittany (Bretagne), we have so many good choices of butter, so I often buy different brands. But Bordier is by far my favorite. Your take on the Croque Madame is interesting, I would have made it with thinner bread slices, but this looked delicious, although fancier that what French people would cook haha Your Bœuf Bourguignon looks perfect. Eating with the bread is the way to do it. This is something I really miss when traveling abroad : eating the bread with the delicious sauce 🤤 And I love when you say "No matter how full you are, you have to have a desert". This is so true. Actually, when I'm meeting non French speakers, I try to teach them a French word I hardly found in another language : the "gourmandise" or to be "gourmand". It's the fact to eat something that looks delicious (usually a desert but it can be anything or just having more of the food you just had) even if you're full. Technically, you can stop right there. Your stomach say "no more please". But your brain and your mouth is like "But it's so good, just a little more". My region is also the birthplace of the French crêpes, and yours look perfect also. But in Brittany we would put maybe more (salted) butter as we are crazy for salted butter. If you come back to France, I urge you to go to a different city than Paris. Paris is great, but it's very different from the rest of France. Like every country, each region of France has it's own cuisine. From Brittany, you tried Crêpes (and the crêpes and galettes in Brittany are 10 times better than in the rest of France) but you should definitely try the Kouign Amann, which means Cake of Butter in the traditional language of Brittany. There's also so many different kind of stews you can cook (Coq au vin, Blanquette de Veau, Carbonnade Flammande, Cassoulet, Gardiane de Taureau, Civet, bouillabaisse). Anyway, this is definitely my longest comment ever but I really loved your video and I had to tell you! Merci ☺️
Using chopsticks and my hands have been transformative: expeditious and centers me more when in my kitchen. (Non-Asian with AuDHD and grew up fascinated with Julia Child on PBS)
The part on trying to learn a language is so true! I am in China learning Chinese and feel like I am doing well, but then as part of a lesson I go out to practice in public and mostly freeze, it is so much more intimidating when not in a controlled setting!
French guy here! Love your videos and it's really cool to see you doing some French cuisine, and even cooler to see you nail it! Your Croque Madame looks so good! Had never heard of the sour cream + cheese paste situation but I'll definitely try it. And my god, the pain de mie you made looks stunning! One thing about the Boeuf Bourguignon though (which looks very good don't get me wrong): you're supposed to marinate the meat in red wine first! (which makes the recipe even longer haha) with some garlic, onions, carrots and aromatics. And it's this marinade that you'll add to the pot after you've browned your meat instead of adding straight up wine. If you make this dish again, try it and it'll make it even better! Greetings from Paris and looking forward to seeing your next videos :)
I hope to be a little like Inga in the future. All this love, care and passion for everything she does. Making good food and enjoying it whenever, having a glass of wine and all
This is unrelated but would you consider 24 hours of only Vietnamese food? Cause there are so many options out there that people forget exists. PS: I love your vids, never ever stop making it!!
Boeuf bourguignon is such a flavor star! I'm also happy you had such a wonderful time in Paris, learning new things and tasting so so SO much bread xD I can relate to the language thing. I lived in Berlin and Vienna for a while (I'm Norwegian) and was always hesitant to speak German in fear of messing up. I think it's a nice touch you mentioned that part from your own experience. And yes, please do another 24h French food! Maybe a bouillabaisse or a terrine. Or coq au vin. Or or or or. xD
For a more traditional and fancy Croque-monsieur you can use 2 slices of bread instead of Pain de mie and put béchamel and ham inside. Pro tips: you can add Comté and nutmeg in the Béchamel (we call it "Sauce Mornay"), this is the fanciest Croque-Monsieur you can have in a traditional Bistrot.
I absolutely adore you, Inga! You genuinely look so happy, you're glowing! Your content has become all the more authentic, genuine and happy too. The passion and love for food, bread especially shines right through :) Its admirable to see you grow and take on new challenges from going to Paris for the course to now taking on French lessons. Smiled through the entire video
I lived in Burgundy for 2 years and my favorite dish is Poulet Gaston Gérard . Beef bourguignon is more famous but the lesser known chicken gaston is incredible and I am trying to spread it's praises.
Can I just recommend one tip from my French teachers in high school? The way you said "un" in the video is actually how you'd say it in Spanish. The u in French is pronounced identically to the u in 芋 like taro in mandarin. It's also more nasal, so bring your Cantonese out. 😂 "un" is essentially pronounced like how you might say yes in Cantonese "嗯". It's the reason why I chose to learn French in high school. Some of the sounds are quite transferable from Mandarin & Cantonese. Not really English though. 😅
You are true example of someone who enjoy food. From sourcing ingredients to preparing and cooking also not leaving out on presentation. This shows your true dedication towards Food. I wish all of us had this much dedication to the way we eat and consume and see our food. Your love for food shows how all your five senses are actively working and enjoying ❤
If you enjoyed the tenderness boeuf bourguignon, try out "carbonade flamande", its a dish from the north of france and belgium with a similar mode of cooking, but different taste, and its just my favorite regional dish!
I love the interest you take in French food ! As a French may I add : - having the crepe batter thinner (add milk), it’s going to be able to spread and be thinner (it shouldn’t look like pancake batter, more like thick milk consistency) - having the boeuf bourguignon with potato puree for the ultimate indulgence !
My wife and I both speak french and we spent a week in Paris in October of 2023 and this video is brought back so many good memories! Hope to go back soon but I think the next destination on our list is Belgium
since you love bread for breakfast maybe try some "pain perdu" also something I know my parents and I both enjoy is just some toasted pain de mie, then add some butter on it and then you add some coco powder on it believe me it's delicious and french approved for dessert, I think you can either try "une tarte tatin" or "une charlotte aux fraises" for lunch and dinner...I'm not sure maybe "un gratin dauphinois" "une crique ardéchoise et une bavette à l'échalotte" "une blanquette de veau" there are options that don't come to my mind now but...I believe in you
OMG I've been waiting for you to make French food!! It looks amazing, especially that boeuf bourguignon!! I miss the food so much from France. I'm glad you're not just learning French from duolingo. I studied abroad in France for 2 months after learning French for years to finish my French minor, and I was still scared to speak French in front of the locals and to order food
We love making beef bourginon at home, we have some actually in the fridge right now lol; we have it with some homemade buttermilk mashed potatoes and it hits the spot :)
Hey, ingalam. I have seen a lot of your 24-hour challenge and other videos as well, and I noticed your skill has improved so much since you study over in franch and visit bunch of the food as than the other cook challenge you have done I can't waite to see you grow more in the cook and also hearing of your French that been study I know from other that French is not easy and learn a another language is also not easy well glad you are still stick with it to get better so hope hear some from you also good job keep up the good work.
hey french here! honeslty, you did amazing! I will probably never cook boeuf bourguignon myself bc of how much a hassle it is, so big thumbs up for doing it! The north of France tends to use butter, but the south uses more olive oil! I understands you only went to Paris, but may I recommend some southern french food for the next video? hehe (not because I'm from the south, no no, of course not/s)

Great video. As I said in another comment : croissant au jambon is a must do with stale croissants. And your beef looked delicious. And yes veggies are great but try with some pasta instead. ;) Great video, can’t wait to see the next one.
That food just looks so amazing, don’t think I could eat it all in one day though 😂 You’ve inspired me to make a beef stew and a version of the breakfast ❤
Oh that lunch Mmmm. Great job on your bread. I make bread regularly and yours looks very nice! All that cheese makes my heart happy. haha. I want to try that cream cheese mixture. All your food looked great! I remember watching Julia Child on TV as a kid and I am glad that she still inspires even without being on TV now.
I'd love to see a behind the scenes video on how you film everything. Show the cameras, lighting, etc. you use if possible. Your videos always look so great. On my videos I have problems with it losing focus at times. Your videos seem perfect all the time. I want to learn from the master.

try different regions of France perhaps?🤔
Steak au poivre avec un gratin. Merci!
