My biggest brown this year so far was on a size 20 Kype lite dry fly hook, a bwo pattern of cdc for a split wing and an olive thread body, no tail or shuck. It was approximately a 22-24 “ fish. The reason I bring this up, is, my biggest ones usually come on a jig streamer. I just found this channel and I’m enjoying it !!! Thanks a bunch. I’m in West Virginia USA. I’d love to fish in your country!!!
We've been hitting the lakes and reservoirs this year to get out fishing. 3 times a week on a good week. Means we're not tied down to how the river is looking. Also took up saltwater fly fishing which is challenging in Ireland to say the least . Would you not consider any of those options if the river isn't fishable?
@@springerspanielful I can appreciate that. I think you have more fun with the dry fly on the river as well. I'm driven demented to get a bite on the still water with the dry haha.
Great video, congratulations. I used to fish the Suir years back but further down where there is no Mayfly hatch. Would like to try the stretch you are fishing in the future. Where is it and how can I obtain day tickets? I am surprised though that not more bigger fish came out to play as usual when the Mayfly is hatching. Is that a sign that there not many big fish (15 to 20 inch) in the River? Greetings from Switzerland Patrick
What a lucky man you are !! Wild Brownies on a dry fly in a beautiful setting Don't care what size they are a big one is a bonus Thanks for sharing
Thanks Gordon, I am very lucky indeed, and don't take it for granted.
So nice and quite. Perfect reflections on perfect water. VERY nice!

Not really to be honest, my passion is river fishing.I have tried other types of fishing as you suggest, doesn't do anything for me.

Plenty of bigger fish in the river, not easy to catch though..
