    G'Day George,
    I always enjoy watching your videos--plenty of information passed on in such a friendly way that it's very easy to imagine that we are sharing a stretch of river with you.
    Thanks for showing us around your cobby or man cave. I have all my fly gear and hunting gear in just my man cupboard, so I looked with great envy at your set up. You will not regret setting up your stove in your room. Early last year we had a wood fire/oven installed in our place after experiencing too many power outages in the previous winter. It provides heat, we can bake/roast in the oven underneath as well as it warms the soul as well as the body.
    Lovely dry fly fishing in this video. That stone bridge is an impressive structure. I have only just caught my first stream trout for the 2022/23 season which reopened in September. Had a health scare ( colon cancer that needed surgery, chemo- therapy to begin soon then liver surgery sometime in the future). The excitement just never ends!
    I'm feeling infinitely better since the surgery, early in November--I can now actually walk more than 50 yards without extreme fatigue. The experience has made me appreciate more, every day, my family and friends.
    Today the weather is pleasantly comfortable, so I may drive up to a favourite spot near Marysville, Victoria. It's only about 30 minutes drive from my home. I can fish in the Stevenson River for wild brown and rainbow trout--affectionately called the Stevo by keen fisher folk then finish up fishing for stocked rainbows in the small lake. I'd send you photos if possible. Sorry, waffled on a bit with this post!
    Cheers,
    Steve

    Excellent George, thanks for that.
    I've a question for you, whats your opinion on modern built split cane rods?
    Thier very expensive but are they worth it ? Sure they are beautiful but would they break?
    Is there any advantages in using them over rods made of modern materials ?

    • @springerspanielful
      @springerspanielful  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had two cane rods many years ago,broke the tops on both in no time at all,they are nice aesthetically but nowhere near as tough and functional as a modern carbon or graphite rod.Personally I could see no real reason to use cane.

    Great stuff as usual George. With all them bulrushes in the river, has it been dreged

    • @springerspanielful
      @springerspanielful  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The river was dredged back in the mid 70s, it's started to recover and we are now in trouble with eutrophication mainly from intensive agriculture.
