    That was a really good explanation for the types of compression. Now I'm kicking myself because a couple of the analog versions of those compressors are units that I have seen for little to nothing at garage sales and pawn shops and just said to myself " what the hell is that?" and didn't grab it for a few dollars. Thanks for the video.

    thanks for the explanation of HOW they work rather than just going through some common settings like most other tutorials.

    This is the best compressor video ive ever seen. The FET into OPTO was an eye-opener

    I discovered the beautiful and sometimes necessary effects of compressor later in guitar playing life when learning 'The Eagles' songs. Nice video explanation.

    Big thanks for the video! And big thanks for not destroying the video with lots of nonsense talk. Unbelievable that you only have 51 200 subscribers, should be way more. I would love to see a video on how you would approach a mix and process a, let’s say, a Toontrack Superior Drummer track. 🤟

    This was great! I've watched a lot of content and I went through a couple of courses, but I never understood the different types of compressors until now. I'm a home musician, but this will be very useful for my mixing!

    This was really helpful to understand and how and why to chain compressors. Also Joey’s voice over tone is awesome too! Would love a tutorial on that as well

    Man this was a really awesome video, thanks for putting all this information in one place - I know it took a lot of work to make and share.
    Think I'm finally reaching a place where my understanding of compressors is starting to gel and glue (lol)
    because everything you're saying makes sense to me,
    I definitely need to work more on training my ears and doing hands-on experimentation
    something I've started doing a bit more is throwing random loops into Ableton and then just messing around with different compressor plugins, settings, and combinations to let my ears appreciate how they change the sound of the final output. it's gradually making me more confident and fast on my decisions

    Hi, I am using wirecast 15 to livestream to zoom and I would like to improve the audio for live events. I am struggling to find resources for EQ and compression for live events using a DAW to zoom. Do you have any recommendations for Fx/compressions/EQ resources I could use? Thanks

    If the VCA compressors are so versatile and can be used in any context, why do we still use all the other kind of compressors ?

    Which Comp on mixbus, which on MP3 beat and which on master bus?

    • @furtakdominik5508
      @furtakdominik5508 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      First Comp in mix chain should be fet or opto (vocals)

    • @AdamShepard
      @AdamShepard 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@furtakdominik5508 in this video it's fet > opto, you can do it however you like

    • @heyiplaybassguitar
      @heyiplaybassguitar 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AdamShepard agreed, all depends on genre and what sounds you're going for. On vocals and bass, I prefer to use the faster acting comp first (FET) into a slower reacting comp (OPTO). One catches the peaks, the other helps "average" out the signal!
      I've also experimented with other combinations... like using VCA [with fast settings] going into a TUBE style comp... so many ways to mix and match and experiment!

    Using plugins will make all compressors become FET as computer using billions of it inside, not talking about digitizing it. Use an actual and real compressors as possible if you want to experience the real ones.
