- The Pz.IV J (Pz.Kpfw. IV Ausf. J) is a currently tier II, 3.7BR medium tank for the German ground tech tree. It is an optional purchase, which makes it perfect for the Stock To Spaded series. In this video, I go over this vehicle in three matches, with the first being fully stock, the second being halfway spaded, and the final match being fully spaded, advising on how it improves throughout.

Since its turret rotation speed got buffed from abysmal 4 or 6 degress to 9 to 10 it has a become a very nice back up for my beloved Panzer IV H at 4.3... Really cool tank.

I really like the Panzer IV J just due to it being an optional vehicle and I like the way it looks without the hull side skirts. It’s not as good as the H variant but it’s really fun either way.
There's one more difference between the H and the J that you missed: the silver income multiplier. The H sits at x0.7, while the J has x0.9. That's a not insignificant difference. And quite topical too: the J is strictly worse than the H, but IRL it was cheaper to manufacture, and so to reflect that, it earns you more money ingame =P
Between that multiplier and the phenomenal gun with free ammo, the PzIV J can make you quite a bit of cash if 3.7 is your BR of choice.

i don't see how its much better honestly i would prefer the j it has smokes and a small turret traverse hit isn't a big deal i looked on the stats on the wiki and its the same tank just a tad different smoke vs turret traverse.
The panzer 4’s are one of my favorite tanks in the game and in my favorite tiers. Just a great all around little tank. It’s my comfort tank 😂
Panzer IV is always good, I have a personal bias for the F2 and H, the F2 due to it's BR and the H due to it's looks. Funnily enough, I expected the J to be abysmal due to it's turret traverse, but it turned out to not be as much of an issue as I had thought.

I did? I try not to :( Sometimes in the moment, I don't notice, and then only see it after the fact while watching the video
Kill stealing isnt a thing in tank battles if you ask me cause if you roll up on two tanks having a shoot out and they have the enemy tank disabled how am I suppose to know they enemy isnt still a threat and cant shoot back. In air battles the only time I consider it a true kill steal is if the plane has had been so severely damaged that it is spinning out of control to the ground and is no longer a threat to anyone.
@@johngrisham3784 I generally agree, killstealing only applies in air rb. However, if I see a teammate who has disabled an engine and a barrel on an enemy, its theirs to finish. I may shoot the track for an assist tho

@@alecnorgaard4760 No such thing as a 'Teammate' in War thunder. Just enemies in red, and enemies in blue. Gotta put yourself first, otherwise they will put you second the vast majority of the time.
I like it because it's always good to have some vehicles of the same BR.
I prefer the 4G due to the smoke grenades. The J's turret rotation is a dealbreaker even spaded
Pz.Bfw.IV is pretty much this except better.
It's practically the same except it's rank III and it has really good SL modifier. So there's actually a good reason to use it over Pz.IV H.
Turret traverse received a big buff a while ago so it's not a big downgrade.

I just remember that one time they forgot to give it a UFP in update New Power I think it was? And I ended up killing one with the French 37mm since it only had 4mm of front armour
And this is why I refuse to pay Gaijin for premium haha.

2:40 Actually Panzer IVs until H and J variant has pretty solid mobility definitely on par with all Shermans besides M4A3 in HP/Ton ratio.
The J variant that's premium is rank 3.
Enjoy easy daily objectives.
But still bad tank and a waste of GE. Unfortunately they lowered the rank to all the panzer IV and it is ridiculous
I have a German lineup that is only pz4's. It is my least stressful and most successful lineup.
I usually try to have a variegated line up with scout tank, anti air, heavy tanks, ecc
...but with Germany I have some wacky line up with 4 tanks at the same br.
I used to love germany 4.0 but now i hate it. Too few sniping maps and too many brawling maps make these glass cannon tamks very fragile. Germany surely has a good overall lineup at 3.7 - 4.3 but they still lose a lot
I think more than anything else what makes it worthwhile is it being the same BR as the H and also the Dicker Max and your choice of Whirbelwind or Ostwind, so it helps round out a full lineup. I also know I personally played it more than even I otherwise would have because I lucked into a talisman for it from a drop and it's still my highest BR German talisman.
The long gun Pz.IVs are monstrous vehicles. They were monsters at 4.3 at they continue be monsters at 3.7.
Bit late but a hidden gem nonetheless, if you turn the engine off in the 4J you don’t lose ANY functionality due to the manual turret making it really easy for silent takedowns
Of course it's better because it has smokes, faster than before(thanks for the patch) turret traverse and bigger sl multiplier. I think H version also had smokes but they removed them.

Germany 3.7 is a banger lineup and my go to for history pages and other achievements - panzer 4s are awesome, best guns and performance at that tier.
Can you do one on the Panzer-3 M, it’s my favorite tank in the game

I find that the slower turret traverse makes me think ahead and be more alert.
My favorite is the 4g in the Italian tree.
I think the variant before it was better, but having two panzer IVs with long guns is better than having just one
I think you mean 4, F2 is still capable while G is should be 4.0 since its basically the same as H and J
@@AHappyCub the G has less armor. But same gun as the H. F2 is less armored but faster.
Instead the J you should take the F2 (3.3 br) or the G (3.3 br). Way better turret traverse and speed
@@Vins9393 Armor doesn't matter because you don't want to get hit or seen in the first place by sniping from long range and using cover

I think the Pz4G was the sweet spot for the Pz4.
If you treat it like the M10, you will have a very good time playing this tank. Atleast that's what I've found

It is skippable, but is still very usable. I thought the lack of a powered turret traverse would adversely affect me much more than it did. Plus, it has a smoke grenade in lieu of the powered traverse.
@@Tankenstein I still rather have the H, G and F2 in a line up then waste money for the J, despite the J has a little bit better Pen then the G and the F2, as it has the H,s gun, already have to put up with the Panther D slow AF turret traverse, but at least that one has a great gun

Because is the last variant of Panzer 4 and Germany wanted to push more out and cut out some stuff to produce them faster
@@huntershark88 which honestly made no sense because the Panzer 4 wasn't particularly cheap to produce, in fact at the end of the war a panther was cheaper to make, and obviously better
@@cvetomirgeorgiev9106 At the time Germany was critically short of the copper and bearings and machining needed for the turret drive. LIkewise they couldn't afford to shut the Pz IV production lines down to retool for Panther. The best they could do was change some for Jagdpanzer IV production.
Getting those matches like the first one makes you get a high hope of it being like that, but the next round you get killed instantly, thats kinda my life.
Ngl would be interesting to see a Stock to Spaded episode with the IS-4M especially at the BR it is in

I see no reason to use any other pz 4 except F2 and H (H only because it looks cool still worse than F2 in my opinion).

This tank isn't the best tank for its lineup but its solid which makes 3.7 Germany very strong.
Maybe Panther F next?
It's overlooked because it's optional and noticeably worse than for example IV H. Turret traverse being that much worse is unacceptable. It's more of a lump of coal than a gem.

👍. Not a bad gun. U can take it up all they way up to 6br. Just don’t get spotted / shot above br 4. U’ll be fine. One thing I find amazing about the people who decide on the rewards for vehicles. If u look at the rewards for both these tanks plus the 2 premium version’s they are different, but are a copy paste tank. Just goes to show ow idiotic they r! With the kill assist they need to increase the reward for it! Because they r very common and if u only do assist’s. Due to poor shot placement, poor ammo choice or if u happen to use heat! gaijin! U get very poor rewards for it compared to the actual destroy!
Prior to the completely unnecessary and botched introduction of the penetration calculator in early 2019, there was a big difference in the gun performance between the earlier PZIVs (F2 and G) and the later ones (H and J) in game. The H and J had the longer L48 gun with about 30mm more pen which was historical. Now they're basically the same so there is no advantage. I do like the command version because it looks cool but both the J and command J are effectively worse in game to the G and H due to the slow turrets. It's not as if Germany is short of vehicles at that BR so you're better off taking something else.
The premium J is ridiculous. So BAD premium ! How can gajin sell it if the free versions are way better (and free)

Because it's the same thing with the M24, the Japanese one is Rank 3 whilst every other is Rank 2, which wouldn't be a problem if Japan's wasn't twice as expensive.

I would think the country of origin would have the best version. Makes sense because they are the ones doing the RnD, have the parts, and have most experienced crews to run them. I can think of all the reasons the should at least be the same rank, but I can't think of one reason they should be different.

Gaijin should make assists the same value as a kills... or at least never put more than 10 kills required
