My door faces in North which is my unlucky direction. I rent and my door is red like a dark burgundy red. I know red as a badd color for a North facing door. You know of shade matters though. The problem is I can't change the color. I know there's gotta be some kind of fix and actually had one article that actually said there was but I could not track down an answer. The curtain to correct the Feng Shui is usually thick to block the view and create a screen. And it is better the light does not pass through. But you can always open the curtain when needed for fresh air. It is still flexible. Don't have to close the curtain all the time.

I am not sure about branches. It might be just for decoration. Many Chinese tape "Chinese new year lucky words" on the door and sometimes don't bother taking it down after new year. It might be just lucky words such as "spring", "prosperity" or similar poetry. They are usually black or gold on red papers.
Add some curtain/screen/tall furniture between the front and back door to slow the Qi down. Try to make sure the water (faucet?) flows into the house and not out of the house. If the mirror is directly facing a door or hallway, maybe cover with fabric when not using. Hope it helps.
