Being owned by a "private equity firm" is a death sentence. As soon as they suck as much money out of it as they can they will start dumping/closing locations. Especially if the over saturate with TOO many locations.
Bojangles opened several restaurants in WV about 7-8 years ago, they have all closed except one in Princeton. A few of them were replaced by Cookout’s which are always busy.
They line up at Katz in NY for old school Jewish deli and shell out $30 for a $4 sammy every day 3 thousand times a day. They print money. Why the hell do we need another bad chicken or burger joint????? What the hell???? MORE GOOD JEWISH DELI. PLEEEEEEZE!!!!
Bonchon is actually kind of good. They only do like 3 flavors of wings, but they triple fry their wings so it's crispy as hell....way more crunchier than something at Wingstop
First watch isn't that great and it's expensive. My wife also got served glass in her food once. They apologized and refunded, but it could have been a disaster.
Looks like oversaturation of chicken places - only the Korean place looks like it would offer something different. Can't imagine the smoothie place expanding so quickly - sounds like the Krispy Kreme principle waiting to happen. Salad and Go sounds like a novel idea that fills a niche not being served. I live in a town with taquerias everywhere and with the Mexican population spreading out across the country and producing more mom-and-pop places, I don't see Mexican chains having a bright future - why go to a chain when you can get the real thing (shout out to Tacos Jalisco in Vallejo, California!)?
I'll take a Katz-esque deli. We had a deli/Cafe here but the owner ruined it by selecting who her customers would be and mistreating people who wanted to eat and work there. It did great until I quit. The clientele decided to come with me. The owner was just so nasty. Our town needs an affordable deli and Cafe again. I'd love to see it happen for good people.
Interesting to see Qdoba is making a come back. Qdoba, Moe's, and Chipotle are tye 3 make your own burrito joints. Qdoba used to be 1 for me, then Moe's, then Chipotle, went back to jumping between Moe's and Chipotle for a few years and now i just go to Qdoba, mainly because their stuff just tastes better
Slim Chickens, Smalls Sliders and Salad and Go I never heard of because they are not in my area. I hope I get at least 1 of each some point. I have been to the rest of the restaurants on this line up.
9:54 I have had CAVA’s sauces from my grocery store. When I went to a physical location for some vegan options they said they didn’t have any vegan protein available at the time. Big disappointment. I picked my salad and rice and then boom.
Price? I will not pay $25 for 6 oz of meat, slaw, baked beans, and perhaps a biscuit. Plus tax, tip, and parking, waiting in line, etc. A family of 4 at that price could oven roast and save up for a smoker. I had a Little Chief that I used to make smoked salmon and beef jerky when I lived in Alaska. Fantastic.
@@paularose3847 That is one of the biggest reasons they are taking off. Prices so good for the top quality. I fed over 150 people for $2,700 AND had leftovers. Everyone raved about it. For $25 you could probably feed 2 or 3 hungry people.
@@necrogenesis1981 You can use liquid smoke in the marinade and slow roast overnight or longer in the oven. The restaurant is out of my budget, but I can make very tasty food at home.
Interesting content. I have a meal or a drink out perhaps once per year, if I am really hungry or need coffee. It is usually a sandwich from Sprouts. Unless I have a gift card to use elsewhere.
Never have been to a Chick Fil A and Five Guys only once about 15 years ago in OR. Nothing special, but my dad wanted to try it out. The fries were okay, but way too much for 2 people.
Bojangles might enjoy the Chick Fil A / Five guys affect. It's one of the top 10 or 15 US fast food franchises that's like mainly around only 1 area, kind of like Dunkin Donuts in the Northeast.
If I had to rank smoothie joints? Smoothie King > Tropical Smoothies Cafe > Playa Bowls > Jamba Juice. Only ranking TSR higher than Playa Bowls because they have sandwiches
Charlotte’s Airport has three Bojangles locations. It’s why, whenever I can, I use it as a connecting location. It is the best chain chicken. Period. Really hoping for a location on the Vegas Strip.
I ate at a Bojangles in neighborhood Charlotte, back in 2008, first and only time. About ballpark $15 for 2 small pieces of chicken for my guest, 2 chicken fingers or something for myself, 2 small sides, and perhaps one small drink. Nothing special, and have not been back
Once these businesses sell out, and the expansion begins.......quality drops... Bean counters looking for indiscriminate money grabs; it's sad really.....the u s seems to be one big prepackaged product
Slim chickens opened up two restaurants in our town and they were closed within six months because they sucked. You need to check your shit before you put this shit out.
Freddy's is mediocre at best. The shoe string fries are nothing worth going out of your way for. I went there a couple times and wondered why they hype? Culver's is much better.

& Portillo's Hot Dogs & Italian Beefs with 87 Locations in Midwest, Southern California, Arizona, Florida, & TEXAS.
I’m originally from Chicago. I was so happy when Portillo’s opened in Arlington, Texas

Bojangles! Best ever!!
Dave's Hot Chicken is AWESOME- from Illinois
One just opened near me a couple of weeks ago - it's packed every time I go past. :)
Bojangles opened several restaurants in WV about 7-8 years ago, they have all closed except one in Princeton. A few of them were replaced by Cookout’s which are always busy.
i think they shot themselves in the foot when they "reworked" the cajun chicken sandwich to align with popeyes, they had the best buns and veggies
Thank You

Agree
Unpopular opinion, but Katz is overrated.
More delis, period. Maybe not a Katz model. 😂
@@GusDocDthere’s a place in la that’s called canters and I swear sometimes it’s better been to both many times
That smoothie place might as well have a closing notice already drafted and ready to go.
Opening smoothie shops in this economy is nuts.
Can Bojangles reopen their now vacant DMV locations?
Somehow, I think that these places will struggle quite a bit. Especially the "fad" ones.
Agree. Fads don't last.
Seems like waaay too many chicken restaurants that don't look appreciably different from each other
Chicken Chicken and more Chicken.
Or an expensive steakhouse.
Bonchon is actually kind of good. They only do like 3 flavors of wings, but they triple fry their wings so it's crispy as hell....way more crunchier than something at Wingstop
Cava is so good!
I've been to First Watch. Meh. Nothing to see here. Move along.
Rich people love it.
First watch isn't that great and it's expensive. My wife also got served glass in her food once. They apologized and refunded, but it could have been a disaster.
Overpriced and overrated. Underwhelming.
First Watch mids.
I hope to see more Buffets!
thanks for letting me know tropical smoothie cafe is owned by blackstone now, so i can never go back there again.
Freddy’s has really excellent burgers and fries. Love their frozen chocolate custard.
Yep, just wish they'd put their customization menu back up in their locations...
Somehow I think the salad one won’t be so successful but who knows
Bojangles is the best fast food chicken. Hands down
Food looks great good story and thanks for sharing.

I bet you save alot of money. The average American eats out a minimum of 3 times a week
It's very off putting that most of these restaurant chains featured show their employees working without gloves

A lot of these will close once Trump's tariffs cause everything to be more expensive and current inflation keeps rising.
