Thanks for the adaption info. Tried it on mine, together with the accelerator held down, key on procedure, and it seemed to help. Had issues with the transmission working properly, but just did the 104k service and haven't ever repaired it, so grateful for that. Suggestions: More "how to" videos, and more reviews of newer Audi models and issues with them for those of us thinking of getting something new. Had I known about the CVT back in 2008, may have avoided it.
My 0AW transmission needed a T60 i think to crack open the drain bolt. Didnt need a fancy one with a hole in it and there was only 1 bolt. The same hole is used to drain and fill the transmission. I think it's worthwhile updating this video because you can leave the pump connected while you turn on the car and let it get up to temp. Once it's up to temp, remove the tool, drain any excess and put the plug in and you're done.

Sounds like fun 🤦♂️ it also sounds like it's impossible to guess what's wrong with a CVT without taking it apart since there's so many things going on and it all has to work perfectly or not at all. With the 5-speed in my truck, I was able to guess very close to what was wrong both times before I took it out. First time was worn shift fork/s that left it in 4th gear while the stick was elsewhere. This last time (currently rebuilding) I guessed a gear or two were damaged and caused it to lock up. The single gear on the input was gone, and the corresponding gear on the counter shaft had the teeth all mushed out. At least it will be like "new" when my dad and I are doing putting it back together. Thanks for this video, it just reconfirms my trust in manual being the best.
Audi used the MLT for years in Europe. Started in the C5 gen A5’s with FWD, far from the best transmission sadly. They used it in everything with the transverse layout (A4-A8) with FWD. They got the hang of them in the early 2010’s, but the reputation on these is far from the best. i could consider an A5 2.7 TDI MLT but only if it had a brand new trans fitted. Audi ditched it in 2016 for the S-Tronic/DSG. Why Audi never used the TipTronic instead across the whole range from the get go baffles me. The basics of the transmission is the same as DAF used in the 70’s.
@@mevio4665 There are two filters in the CVTs - one is the in-line one in the back of the radiator on the right-hand side. I guess you could just pump nrw fluid from that side... But how do you get the old one out? I'm not sure you can suck it all out from there?
I usually just start it up with the filling tool attached, then lift it up while it's running and take the filling tool off. You don't have to wait until it hits 35 degrees, because the fluid expands as it heats up. Worked as a VW/Audi tech for 12 years now, and this is the messiest way I've seen it be done so far.
Very interesting and informative video. I own a 2014 Honda Civic LX and recently I've had been experiencing some strong vibration when in reverse, basically when the transmission is cold, after running for a while is no more vibration. The transmission was serviced recently at the Honda dealer here in Miami. I am questioning whether the procedure was done right or not. I did not know about the re-adaptation procedure until I watch this video. I wonder if I have to have it done. One thing I've just learned recently is that after a year of this model being out in 2015 there was a recall on this model that had to do with a computer program update on the transmission. I will really appreciate some info on this issue. Thanks.
You aren't going to get rid of all of the vibrations on acceleration until you replace the motor mounts and CV axles. As you probably already know, don't cheap out on Audi/VW axles or you will be doing it again. At least buy some good used OEM axles. I have a 2011 A6 with a CVT and it is actually fun to drive with the 3.2L FSI behind it. I don't know about the 2.0 but on the 3.2 models there is also an inline transmission fluid filter at the radiator (trans cooler). You can replace it (expensive) but I normally just flush it with some kind of solvent. Just make sure your lines are disconnected from the transmission so no solvent gets into the new fluid. I also blow compressed air into it before I hook it back up to get all solvent out of the filter and cooler.
I'm about to go and look at an Audi A4 2004 1.9 auto.. only known fault is a wobble judder guy says he thinks its disks or tracking but is no mechanic and isn't sure (and could aslo just be saying this to make it sound a cheap fix) car has done 216000 miles, is s line in blue looks lovely and is good price.. is this more likely the issue and can they be an expense gamble and should I stay clear.. it's a 4hr drive each way is all. i have a Audi a4 2.0t 2007 i changed the diverter valve and got a transmission flush the following week no vibration car runs excellent you also might have to change the sensor if you own an audi or german car get your tune up oil change every 3,000 miles change your spark plugs every 4-6 months every 30,000 get you transmission flushed i brought mine wirh 132,000 miles once i reached 136,000 these problems started to occur then i got the maintenance done no problems
i would have imaginated to go thru the gears with new fluid in before the drain of excess. also you can leave the hose connected and drain to pump directly. if low, then easy to add more.
I have two questions: 1) Cant we fill atf from where the filter with a funnel instead of trying to pump it up from lower tap? 2) If we replace atf when the transmission is cold we wouldnt need level check , would we?

Hey brother, I have a A4 2.0 TFSI 2009 with a weird jolt problem. It happens when I've come to a complete stop in D1 then when I lift my foot of the brake it jolts forward until it gets power to move. All other gear changes are fine. Also the RPM fluctuates quite a lot when I take my foot off the gas pedal and I'm driving at highway speeds. Its worse on start up but when I drive it for a while it fades away. Any ideas?

Cvt in A4 2007mod working well when cold oil, but when motor temp rising over 60c degrees starting vibrating when start accelerate from 0, but not sensing this over 45km/h. Only at low speed. Also a little vibrate when redusing down to under 35. Seems to be the shift from 1-2 gear. But not anything when the engine is cold. Do this gear box have a hidden oil filter inside in addition to the round black one? Or is there a round black at all? Can this problem be related to stacked filter? The oil analyse show much metal particles.
Congratulations for the video. My Audi is an A4 Avant 1.8 T, year 2005 with multitronic transmission. Is it the same one you made that swap? Does your Audi have a 1.8 T engine? I saw that after you put in the 7 liters, let the car run for a few minutes and then remove the plug to let more oil fall. This is a cleaning that the oil does in the gearbox and you let out a little of this dirty oil, how much do you let out + or - ?
Just a question. TO get the car into adaption mode, is it just a matter of connecting the OBD scan tool and opening channel 10 and 11 or did you do the brake press and hold while pressing the ignition before hand?
Is there a video of the actual vibration? My son has a b7 with the cvt. The vibration is only under load. All mounts are new. It’ll vibrate at 0mph if under load (gas + brake while stationary) me knowing nothing about this trans etc. have no idea what it could be. Feels like a unbalanced flywheel/flexplate. Is there a way to diag a vibration in the cvt via a knock sensor or something?
@@adamprice9214 no. Not all all dealer won’t even look at it due to having aftermarket parts etc. I have a vag com. That doesn’t help. We changed the trans and new flywheel right from Audi. Does the exact same thing. Put it in gear Hold brake and gas and still vibrates. Does the same while driving. Could it be some internal engine thing. Yeah could be. Or turbo related or timing chain or. Etc. Just a guessing game. If you have it in park or neutral and rev it it up it’s smooth as can be. As soon as you put it under load it vibrates like crazy

I had my transmission oil changed about 10mnths ago by a small garage and I doubt they did this. At the time I thought the transmission was slipping but I think it was just a vacuum hose not seated properly. The car runs a lot better now but has a slight vibration on accelerating. Do you think doing this now without changing the oil will help and can I do any damage by doing this now?

? The (Transmission Fluid pump) link that you have on your channel isn’t it a compatible with a 2007 Audi A4 2.0T? Because the link says compatible with B8 & B9 not B7, I don’t want to purchase it, if it doesn’t fit with mines.
Bought this tool to do this, and can’t seem to get the app to function as is shown here. Live Data works on my A3 TDI, but is wonky on my girlfriends A4.

Tim Krueger i’m sure the newer quattro cars are a mix of dsg and slushbox, however for reference i only own a b5 and b7 both quattro and those cars use the 5 and 6 speed tiptronic respectively. probably comes down to gearbox strength as a cvt barely handles fwd
You lost me at the end when you drained all the fluid you just pumped in. What was that about? I don't understand how you knew you had the proper amount of fluid in the transmission. How did you know?
did you measure how much drained original fluid ? and how much is left in after draining the excess fluid from the fill plug ? I have done a change on a c6 2.8 v6 , I have drained 4.5 liters old fluid, and did the whole procedure twice and ended up with 3.5 liters inside the transmission, it doesn’t want to take any more! it may be when i brought the car to the dealer for a fluid change , he insisted it doesn’t need a change (I didn’t buy into this) and he checked the level and the condition of the fluid and it seems fine for him, i’m guessing he has pumped 1 extra liter of fluid , closed the plug and called it a day to make the level correct for his understanding .
Audi doesn’t have a chemical plant. The CVT fluid is made by motul. The manufacturer is stated on the material safety data sheet. It’s the same fluid as they sell over the counter. Buy another good CVT fluid and save tons of money. I use only Amzoil CVT fluid.

at 5:00 you mention checking the level with the scanner. Where does it show the level?
He quickly said level temperature before saying checking fluid level, just checking the temps

As it is an US b7 it is not a 1.8T

Consider using a Kroon-oil Powerflush machine, works a lot better and easier.

Inner CV joint can cause vibrations, especially with the torn CV boots on both inner joints.

I had my transmission oil changed about 10mnths ago by a small garage and I doubt they did this. At the time I thought the transmission was slipping but I think it was just a vacuum hose not seated properly. The car runs a lot better now but has a slight vibration on accelerating. Do you think doing this now without changing the oil will help and can I do any damage by doing this now?

I'm about to look at an A4 1.9 tdi auto s line done 213,000, it's 4 hrs away the guy said it has problem simular to what your describing but doesn't know what it is, I love the look of car and is cheap wondering weather I should stay clear or take the gamble and drive up there. ? The (Transmission Fluid pump) link that you have on your channel isn’t it a compatible with a 2007 Audi A4 2.0T?
Because the link says compatible with B8 & B9 not B7, I don’t want to purchase it, if it doesn’t fit with mines.

Its another fluid but differential is sealed inside the transmission, so no need to change that fluid...

cvt is fwd. quattro is 6 speed
@@SkylineFinesse Do you know if that is the same for most chassis b7, b8, and b9? Are the Quattro cars conventional auto or DSG, i find mixed info online, seems to depend on the country.
Tim Krueger i’m sure the newer quattro cars are a mix of dsg and slushbox, however for reference i only own a b5 and b7 both quattro and those cars use the 5 and 6 speed tiptronic respectively. probably comes down to gearbox strength as a cvt barely handles fwd

You lost me at the end when you drained all the fluid you just pumped in. What was that about? I don't understand how you knew you had the proper amount of fluid in the transmission. How did you know?

did you measure how much drained original fluid ? and how much is left in after draining the excess fluid from the fill plug ?
I have done a change on a c6 2.8 v6 , I have drained 4.5 liters old fluid, and did the whole procedure twice and ended up with 3.5 liters inside the transmission, it doesn’t want to take any more!
it may be when i brought the car to the dealer for a fluid change , he insisted it doesn’t need a change (I didn’t buy into this) and he checked the level and the condition of the fluid and it seems fine for him, i’m guessing he has pumped 1 extra liter of fluid , closed the plug and called it a day to make the level correct for his understanding .

Audi doesn’t have a chemical plant. The CVT fluid is made by motul. The manufacturer is stated on the material safety data sheet. It’s the same fluid as they sell over the counter. Buy another good CVT fluid and save tons of money. I use only Amzoil CVT fluid.
I have driven 3 or 4 different cars with CVT. Fucking horrible, sounds like clutch slipping and nothing happens when you slam it
