I just got the RF. (track only). Great video btw. The main reason I got the Ape, was the price. $17,797.00 us. The Pani V4 s is 27 and change.
Enjoy that front end. The best in the business. And try it without wheelie control, I found it wasn't working for me at race pace, just dropped the front end too hard and caused me to get head shake. I'd rather ride the wheel out or short shift.

Love these REAL world comparisons and talking points outside of the standard jibber jabber anyone looking at a spec sheet can regurgitate. Glad you guys point out that whats on paper does not always necessarily translate the way you would expect... nice to see you also mention how much easier or more pleasurable a certain bike can be to ride over another vs just saying one is simply the “faster” bike and that’s it.

I'd still choose aprilia even if they cost the same.. I find the Ducati abit generic.. I bet power would be more equal if the rsv4 added another 100cc plus aprilia sounds better.. all this is in my opinion

I saw 3 last night at cadwell park lol and the aprilia has looked the same for 9 years or so but I still find it the best looking.. I know the Ducati is good it just don't tickle my pickle
Get in Lane 54 aprilia tuono there is your extra 100cc and what are those extra 100cc used for low end torque just because there is more cc doesn't always mean more top end power ducati used those extra cc for torque on the street so the panigale v4 R is a 1000cc and it's for racing so they don't need the low end torque
Aztec Warrior6969 Tuono is a different bike. Different internals in the motor. The RSV4 has 200 HP while the tuono has 179 HP with 100 more CCs. If Aprila bumped the RSV4 up 100 more CCs it would be way more competitive with the Ducati.
@@HRCfan17 same motor, different airbox. Look up the OpenFlash tablet stage 3 that turn a tuono into the rsv4 with airbox mods. Aprilia just tune the tuono differently for the street and i prefer that over rsv4

WOW yes! 44T never disappoints! But would be cool to see a comparison to the super expensive Honda Rcv213s. I watched a Japanese channel that compared some data and it was very interesting even though I really cant speak Japanese that well :D

awesome, finally you got them both on track - so the Aprilia is the refined, composed, stable steady performer and the Ducati is the wild, fun, sexy red tart, but soooo close on lap times, as an 17 RSV4 owner I agree with its stability and useable power but still thought you guys would lap quicker on the V4 Ducati, just goes to show there are more ways than power alone to make a fast lap. great video

But seriously there is still some work to do on the setup / chassis etc. Ducati have dropped the 'frameless' design of the 119/1299 in favour of this new 'front frame' - both are good in theory and save weight but working out the correct flex/rigidity, balance etc. is not as easy as the well tried and tested traditional beam frame design. Remember when 'box frames' suddenly became obsolete when the 'alloy beam frame' appeared around the mid / late 90's, thats 20 years of development ahead of the 'front frame' so give it a little time.
Ducati are on to something great here, it is complex and will need work but I reckon in a year or 2 they will have it sorted. It is already a mile ahead of the 1299 - I love it !

So guys it took me two days to get through this video but I vigorously listened watched and we watched this video. Very interesting because I own a V4 and a 1299 and I have the Aprilia Tuono factory . And even though that is the naked eye very much compare character of all these bikes when I'm on road or track. Even though the Aprilia is a detailed well-oiled Italian machine I still prefer the Ducati even in the l-twin but back to your performance on this video again I can't get enough of you two together no homo. I just hope that you guys continue with your very informative and entertaining videos I am a screwball myself with humor so I get it. 😉

Entertaining video for sure and thanks for posting. After watching I feel like the RSV is the one to have since it sounds better, runs a faster lap time, has usable ground clearance, is more stable, won't fry your man parts, costs a fraction of the ducati, and probably is more reliable since its been around for a while. I would also argue that an aprilia is more exotic since they are somewhat rare. That HP4 Race on the other hand :)))
Why don’t people put the standard Ducati against the aprilia and not the s which is 5 k dearer?

I got a 2017 Tuono RR, but I'm sitting here wishing I got the RSV4 RF. It was $5k more, but with a huge discount end of the year last year, but I resisted. Such a gorgeous ride. I'll just have to be happy with my Tuono I guess. :P

put the ducati exhausts on the rsv4 and I would take the Aprillia all day, matter of fact I'd take it anyway.
I wish these two guys got more "publicity" for lack of a better word. The production quality is great and the humor and dialogue doesn't feel forced or scripted like it does in other "main stream" motorcycle journalism videos/channels. This format of "two best buds that ride jizz machines then tell everyone what it's like" suits their personalities perfectly. You two (and whoever else is helping you guys, if they exist) deserve more recognition for this great content that you're producing because, quite frankly, it's fantastic.

Both bikes are clearly awesome but the price disparity is huge! Imagine the RSV4 with £8k worth of bits - carbon wheels, full system, suspension set up etc. With a LOT left over for all the Euro track days you’d want to do.
P.S. - currently 1.9k likes and 7 dislikes..... genuinely the biggest positive ratio of any bike video I can remember seeing! 👌🏻
As primarily a track rider, I'd pick the RSV4 all day. You could take the mirrors off it and race it right off the dealership floor. And you'd also be class legal in more than one class. Throw in a tune, slip-on and a bit of suspension setup and the Ducati is in trouble, despite being considerably more expensive.
As a street bike I'll defer to the 44T crew for sure, I have two RSV4s and they are not the best for tight, technical roads because the front end really wants to be stable and pointy - it was meant to let loose on a circuit and it's a bit out of its element anywhere else. Not terrible, just a big step down from its Tuono sibling on the street.

Gabriel Johannson I almost bought one but most my riding is on the street so I went with a 17 Tuono. Absolutely love it, about 9k miles since the end of September and not one hiccup with it.
The Tuono is unquestionably the better (maybe the best) sportbike for the road. I have two RSV4s and say that.

It's excellent on sweeping roads, not so great in town with stock gearing as most modern superbikes, and it's a bit challenging on tight mountain roads because of its track pedigree. On track with typical updates, they are fantastic in the hands of good riders, again challenging in the hands of novice ones as they require full commitment and steering with the throttle. I really enjoy them.
The Panigale does turn in very well. I know exactly what he is referring to around the 16:30 mark. The first time I leaned into a serious corner, I ended up in the oncoming lane and that was during a left. Dives right in with the most subtle input.
This is so good, never been a fan of Ducati, but the V4 is something else.
Such great video. But you guys gotta be careful with the "this & that" (bike) sometimes its impossible to know which bike youre talking about (if the video is a cut scene of riding or if someone is def)
I test rode the V4 and spanked it 180mph on the freeway. It really blurs the scenery. I then rode the RSV4 RF and got tagged by a cop. Being on the demo I said "aint nobody got time for THAT". Dropped a gear and melted into traffic. My mistake i flew into the back of a grocery store. BEW BEW! AKK from a stop I pulled this dank ass wheelie and hauled the mail the fuck out of there. Flying through traffic at high speed AND parking lot dashing the RSV4 was a magic carpet. Anyone can go fast, and trust me it can. I felt the RSV4 won me over in that respect. So i bought it. XD 2018 RSV4 RF. #bearacer
0,6sec quicker per lap 2,4sec lead after 4 laps holy FUCK guys thats INSANE 😂😍 considering the Aprillia is heavy AF.. But it has set some insane lap times i EU in general.. The Aprillia is for REAL.. why change greatness.. the ONLY thing Aprillia needs to do is to make it ALOT lighter.. less weight = less gyro G forces.. O know ppl say you cant feel it sure thing but it would show on lap times..
Just a tip for single side swing arm nuts . Give em 2 or 3 sharp hits with a nylon mallet first they come of a treat even when tightened to 220 nm
You guys have the best videos period. But can someone answer this for me. How is it that these bikes are slower around Jerez with so much power and rider aids, than a 2006 Aprilia RSV1000 factory. Masterbike 2006 winner was a 1.52.5ish. I am missing something. Thanks

I like all these new bikes, must admit though my 1999 zx9 is the 2nd newest bike I've owned, newest being a 2000 bandit 1200. I always think of my zx9 as pretty modern 🤣 but if you compare it with cars ford was still making the escort. I think I'm quite out of date 🤣🤣🤣
you can see the V4's mirrors moving u and down very badly around .54 seconds in the video. I don't get how Ducati can sell 30K+ bikes and can't figure out how to make good mirrors as pretty much all Panigales have the worst mirrors ever...lol
The sound coming from that RSV4 is just pure sex compared to the V4. The big issue with Ducati's V4 is they have 10 or so recalls already I've never seen a bike besides other Ducati's have so many recalls in the first year and at least 3 of them are safety issues that are very serious. I just wish they made the frame powder coated black and some colour to the TFT on the V4 would look better if its even possible.
The chassis on the RSV4 is so good they haven't changed it in 10 years. The V4 will do as good as the Aprilia in corners it just needs to be set up for the rider out of the box as the Aprilia is turn the key and go.
I will say the V4 is the best Panigale Ducati has ever built by miles I'm guessing the seconds year production will have many updates and they will fix many issues that will give it even more potential. I think 2019 will be a good year the new BMW S1K will be out and set new benchmark that will result in so many changes for 2020 bikes. We are at a point that bikes are so good now all that is left to do now is to find a way to get them all around 400 pounds with 250hp...it's almost ridiculous...lol great video guys!

We really are in a golden age of motorcycling, just like the 90's were. The machines you can buy nowadays from the big manufacturers are SO good. Unbelievably capable machinery that can thrill the tits off even the coldest nun while also being as peaceful to ride as a Volvo if you will it. I am irreversibly in love with my 1290 Duke, but that doesn't mean other bikes are invisible. If I ever win big money in life my garage will hold hundreds of bikes.

liked that review, most reviews i watch are toilet. I own an 18 tuono factory with racemap often think would i prefer the RSV4 RF, i love the v4 Ducati too though. Maybe ill see what Aprilia bring out in the next year or so
The ducati is the "Staples" Easy Button where its basically riding itself around the track the Aprilia is much more raw and real so it takes actual rider's skill to operate it smoothly, i'd never buy a top end bike unless i became a professional racer but they both sound amazing, and look amazing.
I wonder if the edge couldn't be taken off the V4 with some track focused modifications. Stock spring rates and valving can't be doing any favors for someone at Fagan's skill level.

Since Aprilia belongs to Piaggio group (now the only 100% Italian big motorbike group), spare parts could be orderd at Piaggio dealers. I think they are quite diffused into the world because of Vespa and other Piaggio scooters
