- Ideally desoldering and taking apart each switch is the BEST way to lube the keyboard but that takes longer and takes way more steps (Which means a higher chance that you could mess something up). Results will vary across the board as this method is not consistent from key to key.
The board I'm using is the HyperX Alloy Origins Core TKL (Linear Reds), I did the sound test using the stock keycaps and on the same desk to give as accurate a representation of the change in sound as possible.
I do have some clips that have the HyperX Pudding PBT keycaps. I will say that PBT keycaps will make the board sound a little better, video coming on keycaps in the near future, you'll want to subscribe so you don't miss it!

The tube of super lube would be better since it should be easier to control. Using the Spray can of super lube has a better chance of breaking your keyboard since it usually is messier and the lube can mess with the contacts of the switch and making them be inconsistence or cause it a key to not work at all. Just a heads up for anyone going to use the method of spray lubing to using super lube in general.
If a key stop working after spay super lube, then you can fix it with wd40. But wd40 multi use is the best method for spray lubing. Still, after using wd40, some keys may stop working. You just need to leave them some time to dry. Wd40 multi-use, can clean your switches and lubricate them at the same time!!!
I did this and it actually worked surprisingly well. It’s not as good as hand lubing but it’s still phenomenal for the effort needed.

Hey man great vid! Finally someone posts a video on this keyboard without having to desolder. Do you think adding fabric tape in between the plate and stabilizers makes a difference either the rattle or should I just focus on using the dielectric grease?

I got most of the rattle out but it's far from perfect.
I think the fabric tape will help a little, but the stabilizers are pretty snug in the plate (mine don't move at all, so it didn't make sense to add any for me) Of course it will vary as its a mass produced board
I've tried the fabric tape method with the Kumara K552 board I have and that made a noticeable difference
@@Muzziii I lowkey just put some blu-tac around the stab housing. It worked wonders on some keys (e.g. my space bar) but not so much on others (my backspace and right shift), cos it depends on whether most of the rattle comes from the stab housing wiggling the top frame, or the stab stem wiggling inside the housing. Asthetic-wise it also isn't the greatest option but it's only an annoyance when I look at the keyboard directly top down or right from the side so in the end ig that's still worth trying though.

Thanks a lot for the video. The rattling sound of the space bar and the backspace key was driving me crazy. Just lubing the stabs improved like 100%. It´s a whole different keyboard.
I didn't lube the switches though.
I don't think the switches really need to be lubed., looking back if I had to do it again I'd skip lubing the switches

try the bandaid modification on the stabilizers of the spacebar, shift, enter and backspace to reduce rattle due to loose stabilizers. the difference it makes is amazing

@@idkwhattoputhere5503 I have the 60 percent version, they're not the worst stabs I've ever used but out of the box, they rattled. I added dielectric grease to lube them and now they're fantastic.

did not expect such a difference that lubing makes, my board feels so good after lubing the switches and stabilizers. i also did the bandaid-mod for the stabilizers.

The brush method is the only "easy method" I would recommend for tactile switches like Blues or Browns if you want to retain the tactile feel and click. A very light amount of 205 G0 lube on the two slider sides of a tactile switch, avoiding the switches bump/hook will get rid of a lot of the scratchiness, make them buttery smooth and retain about 75% of the click. Much easier then tearing the whole keybaord apart. I do recommend a high quality brush so you don't shed hairs in the switch.

Thanks for the video. You inspired me to lube the stabilizers on my Alloy Origins Core with Aqua switches. I had actually given up on using that keyboard and was looking for others I could buy to replace it, but couldn't find something that had the same sound and feel of the aqua switches. I always assumed that because I couldn't take the keyboard apart and separate the stabilizers that I would never be able to use it without stab rattle, but I used your method and they are much better. They are certainly not perfect, I might look into doing a band-aid mod or something to stop the stabilizers from moving around on the plate, but they are so much better than they were stock. Thanks!

did you do anything to the stabilizers?? it sounds like a huge difference in the rattle in the before and after clips. im just not sure if that would be from lubing it or if you did anything else to make the stabilizers better

Did you had any issues so far after doings this method? Is it really safe? My friend's kb led lights died after a month(she used method 2), my guess is that she over lubed the switches which probably damaged the pcb somehow.

I have really loud and clicks blue switches that have a lot of rattle to them. As long as the sound is dampened and there’s less rattle, I don’t really care how they feel. Is this a good idea?
enter and l-shift sound over lubed but well done. Def wanna try something like this on my old board

hey there! this seems like a pretty awesome & safe way of lubing the switch, but for the second method where you use the brush, should i use the super lube or krytox? i want the best results that will last for quite a while and, since i'm lubing browns, i don't want to get the lube onto the stem's legs. thanks in advance! :D
Definitely use Krytox, and be careful when lubing browns, I’m sure you don’t want to mess up the tactile feedback

I'm gonna have to try this, my alloy origins has garbage stabilizers and rattles like hell, and hyperx support basically told me to suck it up.

How many droplets of Super Lube do you recommend for each switch? It’s best to ask you as we both have the same keyboard.
Half a drop, maybe 1 drop if there's a lot of ping. Don't overdo it, even if tempted, most of it will leak over time if you put too much
I’m using 205g lube from the key company. Can I just use this for the stabilizers to? ( I have the same keyboard) and can the lube break the keyboard?
I actually have Aqua switches I don't have the hyperx Cherry switches so I don't know if I should try this with my Aqua switches
I just got one with red switches and it sounds pretty thoccy from the factory for some reason
I believe it was confirmed they have some lube applied from the factory! If I could go back, I would skip lubing the switches and just do the stabs tbh

I just picked up the new HyperX alloy origins core 60, and I ended up watching this video because the keys with stabs feel really mushy when bottomed out (all of them except for left shift... for some reason that ones ok) and I assumed that the TKL version would have the same design. Did you also run into the same mushiness before lubing? Would you say this is an issue that requires disassembly and clipping of the stabs?
Congrats on the new board! I don't have any experience with the other HyperX boards (Maybe I'll get review units if this channel ever gets big LOL)
I remember the keys always being nice and smooth and no real mushy feeling! There was that rattle tho that the lube fixed. (Honestly unless they changed something I think its cheaper for them to keep using the same stabilizer design across the line as its probably cheaper)
The 60% is new so it could also just be some imperfections in the assembly process/QA process
Huh ok. Good thing it has a 2-year warranty so I can always return it for a new one in a year or so when they get the assembly line more in order. I can definitely see this being the case, as the left shift (as stated before) does not have this mushiness unlike all the other stab keys, and no reviews on it yet have reported the same issue I am encountering. Of course the stabs have a lot of rattle but that was to be expected, and not a qc issue.
I have the same keyboard as you. Now im not a expert with keyboards but mines is brand new but as I was trying to switch out the keycaps on my spacebar the stabs broke off and its stuck inside my spacebar. I bought new stabs. and im wondering if its possible to remove the stabs without taking out the switch?
As far as I know, you have to desolder them :(

Hold down fn and esc for a couple seconds until the backlight flashes, you'll know when it happens.
Keep in mind you will lose the custom LED profiles saved on the board.

awe man :(, you might need to get a new stab (I don't know the extent of the damage) you might be able to pop the stab back in, try searching here on YT how to take off stabs.

I have the hyperx alloy origins core (the same one as you have) and my keys with stabilizers are kind of mushy. Do you think lubing my stabilizers will help with this problem?
Not sure if it'll help with the keys being mushy, but it should add some lubrication to the switch and make it more smooth. My stabilizers did sound and feel a lot better after I did this tho

Yes I have! I didn’t like the feel of the o rings on this board at all, so I ended up taking them off
Hey if i was kinda on a budget or cant really buy online rn whats some lube i can use?
Do you have any recommendations on how I should lube it without over lubing? I tried to lube my other keyboard and I think I over lubed it. What I did was put the super lube on a tray then I dipped the paint brush once per switch and it’s still too much. Do you think I should just put one drop on each switch and spread it out evenly using a paint brush?
Yeah, I think the paintbrush method is the most controlled (outside of disassembly and desoldering the board)
I would just get very little on the paint brush and maybe wipe it on a clean part of the tray before lubing the switches.

I'm using that tube too, but some sound overlubed, and some ok. Hard to dispense exact amount. Only did key pad 2 small drops. I should try one. I'm ok on cherry red right?
yeah Cherry red and these are both linear, to me they actually feel the same LOL
The drop method isn't that accurate unfortunately, I try to put as little as possible and add more if needed
@@Muzziii strange using 51014 super, A fine line between going overboard. Dental floss picks until shiny wipe excess off, hit both sides, not top or bottom. Some feel like they need more, but will wait.
but this keyboard main problem is the spring ping , lubing other parts doesn't really help that much

I bought a Hyperx Alloy Origins Core (like yours) with aqua switches, and I seem to have the same problem but with my D and G keys instead.
Could you tell me how did you "hard reset" it so I could try it aswell? I tried the "blow while clicking method" from a different video but it only fixed the issue for a few hours before my D and G started only registering ~80% of the time again lol
(I haven't modded it yet, and it's still ~6 months old)

Hey, I believe it was holding down function and escape for 3 seconds, that should factory reset it. You’ll also lose the color profiles btw
so I have the core aswell but with tactile switches, so will method 2 work but with the dedicated lube for them to not ruin the bump?
Based on what I've read lubing tactile switches has its own method and lube as you mentioned, I'd check out r/mechanicalkeyboards on Reddit, those guys are real experts

Nice, but I wouldn't really recommend spray lubing, because there are chances that it can gunk up your contact pins, causing more delay

Hi, I tested both on different keys (mis matched), the bulk of it was the droplet into the key (a lot of this proceeded to leak out over the past couple of months and made a mess) I have a follow up video on my channel as well if you want to check that out

@@karateka29amura yeah but I will say after a couple months of regular use the excess lube will leak out and make a little bit of a mess, but you can just wipe it off with a cloth

Great question and 100% take it apart if you can. and on a hot-swap, it makes no sense to use this method imo.
This was the quick and dirty way to do it if you just wanted a stock board to sound better without desoldering and taking it apart.

Is there a reason why u used grease for the stabilizers and not the lube?
Mainly because the lube is a lot more liquid so it'll leak all over the place (I learned from my experience LOL) over time and just make a mess.
Also, the lube dried up on the other keyboard I tried it with and the rattle came back in a couple of weeks.
If I could take the keyboard apart and lube the stabs separately, then the leaking would not be a real problem and I could apply it more evenly, but the wire that runs through them I think would still benefit from the grease as it has a whole lot more room to move and the lube would just dry up or leak out regardless.
@@Muzziii I used Glorious G-Lube and it also says on their site, that you can use the G-Lube for stabilizers too, I have Glorious Panda Switches and lubed them ~2 Months ago and they still feel great.
Dielectric grease is better for the long run, but if you want to save some money, just get a lube like Glorious G-Lube and re-lube the stabilizers every 3-6 Months.
The method with the paint brush made my switches feel significantly heavier, did you have the same "problem" and if you did, did it go away?

You can, but you would need to desolder the switches first. I've heard the case is really hard to take apart so I didn't bother spending that much time on this board

No need to apologize, man, I'm still learning too. Don't do this method, you will mess up the blues. There is a way to lube blue switches properly and there's lube out there meant for Blue switches.

Just using the paintbrush and going in at an angle, definitely not perfect, another comment suggested using a pen/syringe to get in there
btw do you know how to open this up? I'm planning to desolder a broken switch
I think one of the other comments had a user explaining how to open it up, the standard screws and then I think there are screws under the rubber pads.
But sorry, I'm not 100 % sure :(
