What a hard-hitting song. When I first heard this track in game, it instantly became one of my favorites. One of the most interesting things about this particular track is that it is EXTREMELY long for any looping song in a video game. I think the original track plays for somewhere between 4 and 5 minutes before looping... which is an INSANE amount for a video game. Don't Speak Her Name is such an incredible track, with a ton of key changes and a lot of contrapuntal stuff... it's great. I borrowed some elements from artists such as Plini, Tigran Hamasyan, and Aaron Parks while writing this arrangement - hope you enjoy it! :D

Not gonna lie this joke fell flat on its face
This is easily one of the most impactful moments of Awakening. It may have it's fair share of problems, but this one chapter is the pinnacle of the whole game. Emmeryn's sacrifice was sad but not without substance or point, and the writing on Chrom and the enemy general in the following map was very good, along with being a very good map gameplay-wise, and having an incredibly sad but still motivating song. Always the point I look forward to most in any playthrough easily.

those faces aren't exaggerated either, haha, I get really into playing piano parts! You don't see me do that as much with sax because the facial positioning is very important to get a good sound, whereas with piano, I can do whatever the hell I want!

I suggest you look up compilations of bass face. It's what makes live performances the best.

Speaking of Mr. League, a piece of advice he gave to me was to mainly control your tone in your fingers. He had an old fender with just 2 knobs (volume and tone), but he usually kept the 2nd knob all the way down. A lot of bass players just stick to the same region of plucking, but sound is affected greatly by whether you pluck by the neck, the pickup, the other pickup, or by the bridge. It's a good thing to keep in mind. Of course, it'll sound fine either way, but it's a lot similar to drummers not playing on the same cymbal the entire song.

I'll admit, of all the songs I expected to be Carlos'd, I did not expect THIS to be one of them. That's coming from playing some of the original by ear off and on on my own time(but nothing on this level, at all). But then again, Valak Mountain and Guzma happened, so I guess nothing's too smooth or simple to be jazzed :P
That being said, I do like how it didn't stray too much from the original too, enough for an eyepiece, but not like Asgore's was(not saying that one's bad, I loved that, but wonder if stray too far would've ruined the feels. Just me though.) All in all, dig it and keep up the good work.

Holy mother of Arceus, this cover was out of this world. Despite never fully playing through Awakening myself, I listened to the original track before listening to this. And you captured the feeling and essence of what was in that song, and perhaps more! The inclusion of vocals sent chills down my spine, the quiet then loud piano part was so soothing, yet determined, and the guitars rocked my soul. Fantastic job, and keep up the great work! It makes my day whenever you release a new song.
I know I'm late to the party, but I've always had an obsession with this track since I first heard it in game, and I felt like it never got enough recognition. FINALLY someone recognizes how incredible it is, and I gotta say, this arrrangement really does it justice. Thanks for the music!

Thanks man, one of my roommates in college introduced me to his music. I find it to be a nice blend of the jazz stuff I like with the instrumentation and groove of metal.
Definately. Plini was one of the guys who got me into math rock, along with Chon. Both have some very evident jazz influence for sure.
