Gosh, I went into BotW completely blind, and when I entered Rito Village the first time and recognized the melody as Dragon Roost Island, I started crying. Wind Waker is my fave Zelda and it brought back all sorts of nostalgic feelings. Your cover makes me feel the same way I did then! Fantastic job! Thank you!!
Although they have the same melody, the tempo and instruments give each version a very different feel. Dragon Roost is fast and somewhat energetic, while Rito Village is more calm and relaxing. That being said, I love both versions equally.
@@electronicheart29 since no one seemed to respond there are several schools that actually have student run radio stations. “How’s Rito Village faring? Everyone seems to be doing well, as far as I know. I can’t fathom that it’s been 100 years. I don’t even know if anyone knows me. Still, it will always be my home.” Beautiful cover. Rito Village is my favorite place in BotW.
I have to say, you're probably my favorite recording musician on TH-cam. From professional to professional, you know what YOU want to do and you don't get bogged down by the opinions or views of others. Too many times do we come across a saxophonist on TH-cam, jams, or other events who have really great potential or ability, but only do the usual "Smooth cover" versions of pop songs and not what they really want or can do. Your arrangements are great, your solos are flavorful while not dipping out of the box without taste, you definitely have a strong sense of what your sound is and a grasp on the music theory/sense to make this happen. Plus hot damn you're blazing fast at arranging, it takes me at least a few entire days off from work on one chart until I'm happy with it to have an ensemble play through it start revisions, and that's not even passable until at least a week or two. Keep doing what you're doing, because while you don't have nearly enough viewers for what your love and work deserves, your pieces gives me hope that more musicians will come to break the mold and inspiration as an educator and performer. When I fell into a deep, deep depression, I pretty much stopped everything music and put my winds, keys, and recording equipment away to collect dust while I just went with the flow of life. I kept listening to your arrangements alongside a few mainstays, usual Coltrane, Sanborn and all that, but I wasn't listening to the technicalities like I used to love doing. Eventually (after a 4 or 5 month stint) I started up performing and practicing again because of my fiancee, my students, and honestly, the work you put out. I can always hear the passion and emotion behind the music you play, unlike the constant barrage of pseudo-emotion found in the typical Smooth-pop cover. I became a musician because I felt that Music makes a difference in everyone's life, but too much happened and I lost that feeling for a long while. Then, the planets aligned and slapped some sense into me. Thanks for being one of those planets, Carlos. Keep being a better musician than the one you were yesterday.
This is perhaps one of the nicest comments I've *ever* received on this channel - thank you so so much! I really value integrity as a musician, as well as efficiency! More viewers would be nice, but I have enough right now to where I can sustain myself decently enough financially with this channel... so I'm happy! Thank you for finding so much value in my work :)
oh man that mandolin fits peeeeerfectly, the only thing that could have made it better was an accordion in there somewhere. also there is definitely kass and revalis theme in there and it is fantastic
insaneintherainmusic - Carlos Eiene That’s actually one of Revali’s quotes from the game, it debuted his up-top and arrogant personality. (Personally my favorite champion) Decided to make it into a joke since you covered Rito Village lol
Oh I know i know! I've played the game extensively haha, i could see how my response might be interpreted as if I hadn't known who revali was or something. Personally I think he's an ass... but i'm glad he is the way he is.
there was one time where a bird flew into a window at my house, and we took it inside and put it inside a toy birdhouse we had... probably not the most sanitary choice
Would've been nice, if you had dressed up as a chicken for greater immersion. Still a great cover though, the beginning is a bit too calm for my tastes, but seeing how it's a cover of BotW it makes sense to implement the slower music style of that game. :3
Do we honestly need the original OST soundtrack anymore? Like gosh dang this cover is sooooooo good. So versatile. It has calm, beautiful soothing parts, and also parts where they're just jammin.
Is anyone else just totally unable to stop coming back to this cover? Heflin on the mandolin is impeccable, the arrangement is extraordinary, as you'd expect from Carlos, and it just has this magical quality that I can't quite put my finger on. It goes through so many developments and variations on the thematic material, and I always--ALWAYS--get chills near the end. I can't be the only one, right??
I’m a young aspiring jazz musician/composer and I’ve always loved your covers, but this one’s goes especially hard, I’ve genuinely never heard an instrument played with as much emotion as the tenor sax in this cover. Jazz is often seen as fast and furious, but this is really a reminder what the core of jazz really is: raw emotion. Thank you for such a beautiful cover.
Omg that was so beautiful! Esp the inclusion of the Mandolin! That ending was sensational! I loved how it was sooo close to the peak but then you stripped most of the instruments at the end. Amazing arrangement!
I still think this is your best work. Not to diminish all your other amazing arrangements, but this one stands out even amongst the others. Seriously masterful. The pacing is perfect, and the ending is immaculate. Way to take a song that was originally a loop, and turn it into a ride for the listener.
This is such an amazing piece! I've wanted a dragon roost island/rito village theme cover for so long, and this definitely satisfied me. Keep up all your amazing work!
Aw heck yeah! This was by far my favourite musical piece in the game. I probably stayed in the village for at least half of my total playtime just listening to the song.
You can really tell Carlos put his heart into this piece. No matter how many times I hear it, it fills me with nostalgia from the moments on Roost Island
2:15 ...you're welcome :^) great job both of you, nice addition to the other cover on Alex's channel! It's always good to be self-critical, but don't worry Carlos, this turned out great! :D

I swear to god that beginning portion got me so hooked because it sounded nearly the same to the beginning of Steven Universes: "Love Like You". Very good stuff.
Good to see the drumset wasn't just a one-time thing. Amazing arrangement Carlos! Even if it's not your "best", it's still pretty dang good, especially the saxophone choir at around 4:48; love when you do that. Is the drumset coming with you to college or is it just going to be an at-home thing?
The drumset will not be coming to college, but fortunately, I've been backlogging a ton of videos while I've been home for winter break, so there won't be too many videos where the drums aren't live, hopefully!

I love this theme so much! Everytime I go to the rito village I just keep singing with the melody! IT'S SO GOOD
Good to see the drumset wasn't just a one-time thing.
That's awesome, really excited to see what comes next! Maybe a talkbox solo like Snarky Puppy's "Outlier"?
haha, that's another rabbit hole that I'll have to go down someday...
