Personal opinion, The Vision Pro will replace monitors, rather than actual products. The days of "cable management, HDMI Cables, TB4 Docks" are numbered. I see VisionOS evolving to be the ultimate "infinite monitor" workflow. I can see Apple opening the VisionOS monitor functionality to Windows Desktops/laptops giving gamers the ultimate 4K 300Hz+ experience. The iPad, iPhone and Mac will aways be around. After see the Vision Pro + Mac combo, I'm convinced that monitors and cables are going to be phased out within 5 years.

5 years is not a realistic take, though. I can see this happening, but in the next five years all we will get is a new model of Vision Pro and a couple major software updates for it. If your scenario is correct, which it isn't btw because of eye safety (spending 7 hours in front of a monitor 40-50cm away is not the same as spending 7 hours with a screen a couple of cms from each eye), a plausible time span is 10 years or so.. By then, replacing monitors partially will be possible in some contexts where using a Vision Pro would be useful and not just a gimmick. The real applications for these types of technology will be, in my humble opinion, augmented reality in real time, with devices not bigger than glasses and with real information provided in our field of view whenever needed. Pulling up a calendar in the right corner of our field of view is what we really need and could use. I'd give these applications 10-15 years to get developed and properly hit the market. For now, the best thing you can do with a Vision Pro is watching movies. To be clear, I feel like it's a great leap forward, but until we'll be able to actually see through the headset it won't ever, ever ever ever, replace monitors or be mass-distributed.

The Vision Pro is better for your eyes than a traditional monitor. the screens may be a few centimeters from your face but your brain perceives it to be 4-6 feet away (focal distance). So your eyes should have less fatigue and should improve your vision over time if you are looking at things up close. @@jack_2612

Totally agree, recently went on holiday and used my Quest 3 VR googles for software development, watching Netflix etc, and gaming with Gamepass and steam. The biggest issue is it’s a bit blurry compared to my iPad, tv etc. honestly VR google are the best holiday/remote device ever, for people on the road I think VR googles can be used today to replace monitors today and it’s only going to get better.
Now the Vision Pro is the uk, I going to pick one up just for the better visuals. Just hoping with time for Remote Desktop software will get released on the Vision Pro.

I got a Meta Quest 3 coz of all the hype Apple created in MR/VR... and it totally replaced my iPad... instead of picking up my iPad for TH-cam and X... also for web browsing while watching TH-cam/Meta Socials like Insta, WhatsApp, FB, Messenger ... and also for Netflix ... Movies via HDMI to my TV... same with VPN for BBC iPlayer and UK ITV... also use it for a screen for my Mac... so... totally killed my use for the iPad, I can't imagine how good the VP is for iPad replacement... HMD's are awesome!

This is a great comparison video. I do find my usage of my iPad Pro has changed a bit. The Apple Vision Pro is so much better for video and some games that I’ve switched over to it for those use cases, even away from my AppleTV (unless it’s social viewing). For productivity use cases, I think of the AVP as a “desktop iOS” device like a Mac Mini and my iPad Pro more like a laptop now. I can get almost all of my work work done with iPad apps, and the ability to keep multiple apps open around me increases productivity, much like having a bigger monitor is a boost to productivity from a smaller laptop screen.

Vision Pro is at least five years away from being viable and probably longer. Tablets will be around for years to come.

    • @marcsequence
      @marcsequence 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

could you elaborate a bit? I know where the minority of the minority but it’s been viable for me since getting it lunch weekend… My issue with it now is purely curiosity based for how long I can go and how far I can go without like my satchel or something for example… I’m looking for easy slipping in a pocketable power banks to just put in the various like side leg pockets in my Carhartt pants of which already fit nicely the Vision Pro battery but I basically wear it all thbut I basically wear it all the time most of the day if not all of the day and all of the night again pure research based science reasons mostly curiosity lol but I’ve taken a nap in it and slept in at my not trying to set a record, record lol is 50 hours plus the most important thing is to find your proper size it might take a few tries. I was lucky that all three of my scans were not only identical, but apparently correct some people got different scans different sizes each time, but ultimately found their size battery life and extending battery life since I’m not or lighter, but finding that comfort in the light seal makes all the difference adjusting the solo knit up and down, which is a little different every day small price to pay for the experience which I love you know ADHD or otherwise lol the weight disappears and you forget you’re looking through cameras and at least I’ve grown to love it more than I already did definitely recommend everybody go at least do the free demo and help pull the trigger 14 day moneyback guarantee

We used to say the same about smartphones. “Why would we want to view the internet on such a small display when we can use our computers with 20+ inch display?”
And now most customers would use our phones more to browse the internet.

After about 3 weeks with the Vision Pro, I hadnt hardly used my iPad. I ended up trading it in. There's about 2 apps I regularly use that arent available yet for Vision Pro, so I just use my phone for them. Haven't really missed the iPad but I understand that may not work for everyone.

My iPad feels like a caveman toy by comparison. The headset has dev to go over the years for more mass adoption, but no way the experience it gives isn’t going to keep going to become more the norm until one day simple screens will be the new rotary phone

I don’t agree about people replacing the phone with the headset or glasses. Some things will always be done better on zoom phone especially taking photos and videos (go frame your picture with your head…). And having a device on your head all day long is not really that great…
Don’t getvme wrong it looks like a great device that i can’t wait to test but it is the iPads or the macbook airs that it is more likely to replace in the future

    Reaction before watching the video:
How is this even a comparison? The iPad pro 12.9 fully maxed with everything including applecare+ on top of it is $3026. The vision pro is a whole 500 dollars more while also needing another (mac) device that costs at least 1000 brand new to be useful. I really don't think anyone thinking of buying the VP will be swayed the other way by the existence of the iPad pro
    Reaction after watching the video:
The title of the video is insanely clickbaity, because you answer your own question in the second half of the video. There realistically is no comparison to be made between the iPad as a model Apple sells and the VP. Again, even a fully maxed out iPad pro with every accessory apple offers you on the way to you adding it to your cart adds up to less than the VP. The vast majority of people aren't going to be buying a 2TB configuration of the iPad let alone add EVERYTHING for this for this comparison to be valid. Because the vast majority won't, it makes the whole "kill" the iPad thing obsolete. The only thing capable of rendering the 12.9 inch iPad pro "dead" is a 12.9 inch air. Otherwise they will remain two distinct product lines
