Welcome to another Episode of Ross Reviews AU on this weeks Video we check out the famous HSV VZ Clubsport with the mighty LS2 V8! i absolutely love these cars and really really want one.. IN MANUAL THO!
The owner has done a great job so far modifying this as it's not finished yet..

I’m a Ford man through and through but the VZ clubby is by far the best looking HSV ever! Would own one in a heartbeat, the LS2 is one of the best sounding LS’s too along with the LS7

@@rhycemg the difference would be so small no one would notice. The stock ls3 is by far the best for handling boost before going bang and that’s it.

The VY Clubsport R8 is an awesome car too which I have leather seats and Walkinshaw tuned, with full exhaust. Lovely 5.7 V8

Beautiful,and yep vz clubbys are the best,,and worked autos are actually quicker in a drag and good for power skids,i love mine

Mate what a beast,I admit it's hard to beat the roar of a solid V8 sounds so tuff & I also agree the nicest clubby ever made,you're hitting it out of the park with your reviews Johnny very enjoyable to watch,it takes time but eventually you'll be able to quit your day job & just do car reviews on here,I have no doubt about it buddy.

I owned a vz ss that was a 5.7L. It whooped my mates ve ss ute anywhere and everywhere across the board when raced. Was a clean sexy car. Use to put money on the dash and tell people. If they can get it? They can have it.. no one ever git the money. Instant power 💪

Good review mate I have one also completely factory 6 speed manual with 50,000ks i love it, 3 inch exhaust and cam is on my list of things to do, I want that v8 sound 😀 😄 👍
Good choice! nothing better than one of these with the 6 speed manual and a good exhaust setup.. well equal ill say atleast to my BF F6 :) hope to own both oneday

I'm a Holden fan since birth. I have a VZ ute, it's only a 6 pot but when the timing gear needed doing I decided to pull the engine down and rebuild it with some strong goodies and a few after market thingys it goes pretty hard. the misses drives our VY S pac, it's only a 6 pot as well but it has a full clubsport body kit, very expensive but totaly worth it.
This is one of my fav reviews and love the intro.... I think you lost about a second in the gear change for the 0-100

Wife's vz ss has been a good car, biggest problem is the gearbox. $5500 to rebuild it plus $1200 for a new clutch. Otherwise it's just a great car and to be fair it's done 350,000 . Still doesn't use any oil either . We paid 10k for it 10 years ago, can't complain and she refuses to get rid of it. Can't blame her ,glad she's got good taste in cars . I rebuilt a 67 impala for her and that stays forever.

There was a VZ SSZ near me for sale for only 5K recently. They had to sell quickly. God I wish I saw it earlier - I would have got it in a heartbeat

Such an iconic V8 HSV! listen to the sound, really awesome! Would you do a review for 2018 Cameron 2SS? It’s converted by HSV in Melbourne I think, the LT1 engine is also an awesome one, I’m the lucky one just bought one last week from a Sydney Delear. Been working hard for last 2 years and finally had my dream come true

If you want to be quicker yes the 6sp t56 is way better than the 4L60E/4L80E-most LS auto's need a rebuild around 200-250 thousand ks, awesome car and sound jonny👍and cool channel

You can fit the 6l89/90 they fit in the tunnel you just need a longer shaft and wire up a stand alone controller to control these as not done by the ecu like earlier.
@@Dan-rg7jj cool i didn't know that, now im thinking of upgrading to a 6L89/90 because my 2nd gear is playing up (probably from pushing it to 120-130klms racing a evo 7 and fg turbo lol)

It’s true I kinda prefer the Holden V8s also.. but still I love a good Boss or Windsor.. and the Miami is just insane.. but yea a good LS is hard to beat

I recently got a cross 8 , the ugly duckling but low numbers out the factory and less rego,d every year due to the type of work they do .
Could be one of those sleeper collectables .

Nice looking and sounding car.Have you driven one without the fancy suspension. In stock form will it turn in and steer through corners like some of the early barra fords.
Not yet with factory suspension.. generally tho holdens handle slightly better than fords but still are "boats".. almost always need aftermarket suspension.. besides the VFs of course they are great out the box

i think your mistaken there.. your driving a hsv.. they were all 5.7 till the ve, but i may be wrong i believe they did come 6.0L in the sedans
completely incorrect HSV had the LS2 and the 2006 VZ SS came out the the 6L L76 (which i own) and Utes had the L98 at the very end.

I’ve got an idea for you. Now that the VZs are getting older, a few need (all rather similar) things done once they clock up say 250000k’s.
I know you do reviews, but how does this sound? Branch out in to stuff to keep the VZs running to top spec. Quite a few people would be interested in this stuff. I’ve been through it myself, having rebuilt my L76 recently

Hey Ross, quick question, I saw in your previous videos you've been having issues with your ZF box in your F6. My XR8 only has 55,000km and when coasting with no throttle especially down hills or with cruise control on especially around 60 to 80km/h the ZF is fluctuating revs by up to 250rpm, only does this when not underload and it improves after 15mins of driving but still does it... Has your box or any other ZF powered cars you've driven had an issue like mine?.. This is my 3rd Falcon with a ZF box and all 3 of them have been quirky with Torque converter issues at low km... And my previous FG XR8 milkshaked 😭..My experience with the ZF has been awful
oh no mate thats not good to hear.. yeh as good as the ZFs are they still have there own issues and quirks... im not sure ive ever experienced what your talking about but my car is running 100x better ever since i put a factory file tune back in the ZF.. so essentially making it learn my driving again.. maybe ask your local shop about doing the same or see what they say?
@@RossReviewsau Thanks for the reply. I have started a thread on Ford forums and most replies seem to think it's not going to be too big of an issue as the rev hunting is only happening with no throttle input, and it drives perfect at WOT, most expensive rebuilds seem to be when it's hunting underload (which my FG did when it milkshaked).. I can't find any signs of coolant contamination, and I've flushed the radiator.. I don't really have the coin for a gearbox strip down ATM after just spending $25k on the car, plus rego transfer and insurance etc... I'm going to get a scan tool, see if any codes have been thrown and if not I'll do what you did and see about getting it flashed too latest factory tune.. fingers crossed!!
