  • This is Psalm 102 (103) chanted in a Mt Athos, Byzantine style from the Monastery of St Anthony in Arizona.
    Lyrics:
    Psalm 102
    (A Psalm of David)
    Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me bless His holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all that He hath done for thee, Who is gracious unto all thine iniquities, Who healeth all thine infirmities, Who redeemeth thy life from corruption, Who crowneth thee with mercy and compassion, Who fulfilleth thy desire with good things; thy youth shall be renewed as the eagle's. The Lord performeth deeds of mercy, and executeth judgement for all them that are wronged. He hath made His ways known unto Moses, unto the sons of Israel the things that He hath willed. Compassionate and merciful is the Lord, long-suffering and plenteous in mercy; not unto the end will He be angered, neither unto eternity will He be wroth. Not according to our iniquities hath He dealt with us, neither according to our sins hath He rewarded us. For according to the height of heaven from the earth, the Lord hath made His mercy to prevail over them that fear Him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath He removed our iniquities from us. Like as a father hath compassion upon his sons, so hath the Lord had compassion upon them that fear Him; for He knoweth whereof we are made, He hath remembered that we are dust. As for man, his days are as the grass; as a flower of the field, so shall he blossom forth. For when the wind is passed over it, then it shall be gone, and no longer will it know the place thereof. But the mercy of the Lord is from eternity, even unto eternity, upon them that fear Him. And His righteousness is upon sons of sons, upon them that keep His testament and remember His commandments to do them. The Lord in heaven hath prepared His throne, and His kingdom ruleth over all. Bless the Lord, all ye His angels, mighty in strength, that perform His word, to hear the voice of His words. Bless the Lord, all ye His hosts, His ministers that do His will. Bless the Lord, all ye His works, in every place of His dominion. Bless the Lord, O my soul.

      Maybe these are the first words seek first the kingdom of heaven and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you. St mark is part of God's kingdom the fact that St mark made the Coptic faith means that God will add to your life through life from death by death . Through jesus to more life through death by death . The psalms of David is life from sin look at davids story . The fact that St mark is using them in the agpeya he is proving life comes from death in the hours of death turning into life because that is the kingdom of heaven and God's righteousness God reverses the unmatchable .the agpeya translates to the book of hours . It helps a christian structure their day in christs suffering and they dedicate their day to christ not being complete with God because no one is complete with God . A way one can be complete with God is that they only want him even though they sin . Some sin and don't want him . Wanting christ gives you a better taste to him . To add to being complete only by going back to him isn't as good as saying you can get a better taste of christ . Why? You're showing more fruits of the holy spirit . You're showing virtue. These are the fruits of the spirit . These are the good things about coptic orthodox. The honour for God's body and blood holy communion is immense . God works through his people to show even if it's one person you will listen . It's hypocritical if we don't. We accept Jonah. We accept mary Magdalene. We don't accept mark.
      St mark the evangelist is an apostle . We follow christ and the apostles . We follow their writings . A way to not ignore them is by looking in depth to everything we are told about them .With blessings of hymns

    Heard this on Ancient Faith Radio a few times... I am an Orthodox Christian in Ireland and was brought up RC, Idid not even know its name.. It spoke to me today early this morning when I was full of fear for a sick close relative... It calmed me and strengthened me. Tonight the news is much better, so I thought if it was possible to find the powerful chant I heard this morning.. Somewhat amazingly, perhaps with help unseen, I found it very very quickly.. Thank God for the Orthodox Church

      May their memory be eternal. All Christians (Greek, Armenian, Assyrian) suffered Genocide (approximately two million murdered and millions ethnically cleansed) in Asia Minor. Today we are suffering even harsher assault both physical but also cultural as well in our very own home countries where we should be protected by the constitutions of these countries!

      We are indeed suffering as Christians in today's secular world. People do not even understand the symbol of the cross and we are forced to make the holy sign of the securely, when no one is looking. It is right for make a stand for our faith but very difficult in these times of 'political correctness'

    All Catholics were Orthodox until 1054. We must notify them of the truth, that papacy does not comply with the teachings of the church fathers. We must not condemn them, but convince them with love.

    I'm 25, I been listening to this for years, I was raised pentec*stal then after "exploring religion", became a fedora tipping, hedonist, atheist.
    Take it step by step, God tested David by ignoring him, he wrote doomer poetry about it (Psalm 88) btw...
    I'm essentially Catholic now, been going to mass for months, actually read the Bible after believing in lies and overall feel better than before. I love the High Church in general and Orthodoxy is beautiful too, Seraphim Rose was like an underground, diy Fulton Sheen.
    God Bless and one Orthodox book I'm saving for Lent is "Way of a Pilgrim", a cozy story about a layman who was taught the Jesus Prayer and travels thru Tsarist Russia like a Zen monk (but coherent)
    Thank you Mikhail!

      Oh. Yeah I was baptized in 96' in Little Rock AR.
      Being only 6 and pretty nieve, I could not grasp or understand the meanings of the churches rituals. From about 6 to 15 years old, my family would go to the services, while I was just hooked on gameboys and stuff like that.
      Then we just stopped going to church. I started using heavy marijuana and other substances. With all the conspiracy videos posted after 9/11 terror attacks, me and my mom and some of my family were just losing their minds. My mom became suicidal and I shortly after attempted suicide. This was in 2008-2009. After it was all said and done, I found Orthodox books we had from when we used to go to church. The Philokalia and other writings. I become obsessed and wanted to learn more. That beings said it was not a nice repenting experience, full of fear and confusion, but there were good times in it. After 2012, I stopped going to a church with frequent confession and stopped taking frequent communion, which was bad for my soul. I started using drugs and alcohol and got in trouble with the law for speeding and drunk driving. That was over 2 years ago.
      I'm going to also add that another reason i started focusing on Orthodoxy was I thought I was possessed by a demon, I even made like 3 videos about it on here. One by the author St Ignatius Brianchaninov, his writing "On the Prayer of Jesus". The 2nd chapter on there is titled "power to expel demons". So that was a frequent topic of research and still is to me. I would really just focus on exorcism and defeating Satan/demons, via prayer and receiving Sacraments. So in effect, the Christian mindset is repentance and cleansing of sins, and demons poisonings, that is what the gist of the meaning of the Incarnation of Jesus, God turning us from base mortals, into his divine immortal self. Which includes the destruction of demons which had been enslaving humans.
      Right now I'm just dealing with the aftermath of all the damage done by drugs and being around bad people in bad environments. The soul/mind is just too frail of a thing and too many ways of being implanted/imprinted with bullcrap from external sources. Anyways, God bless and thanks for the input/comment!

    YOOO when I heard the lyrics but didn't see the title, I thought this was from the New Testament because of its theology. But nope! It's all inspired by God. "As far as the east is from the west" there's no way they would have known that, but that means infinity since the world is round. This is truly God's Word

    There is just one Church as established by the apostols of Christ. The Catholic church seceded from that Church in 1054 and the Orthodox Church just refers to the continuation of the traditional and original Church. The Orthodox church cannot unify with invented churches which broke away from it.

    Just so everybody is clear, it was the original Patriarchy, including the original Orthodox church in Rome, responsible for signing the documents that hundreds of years later excommunicated the newfound Catholic 'Pope'. It was an original agreement that anybody changing the wording of the Creed or straying from the Orthodoxy would be excommunicated.

    I'm Melkite Catholic and I long for us to become one with the Orthodox again. There are traditional Latin Catholics and Eastern Catholics that are ripe for unification with the Orthodox. The East has so much to offer the West, I have a number of traditional Latin Catholic friends that adore the Liturgy of Saint John Chrysostom and its reverence for God. Another friend who has been attending the Melkite church in my area said he has been awakened to the Church Fathers through the East...

    • @Mishakol1290
      @Mishakol1290  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The Greek Septuagint, the Translation of the Seventy. Its the Bible Jesus quotes, not the Protestant Masoretic text. Contrary to opinion. Look up Codex Sinaiticus and the Septuagint. Its the oldest Bible that exists, unlike the Masoretic text, which is what the KJV uses for its old testament. The New Testament is fine, that is the Textus Receptus. The Jews translated its OT, which has some alterations.

    • @Mishakol1290
      @Mishakol1290  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The Oldest complete Greek septuagint Bible, is from the 4th century. The Oldest complete Hebrew Masoretic Bible is from the 11th century. It makes it more authentic to have a older copy. But yeah, Jesus and the Apostles quoted from the Greek Septuagint Bible, not the Hebrew Bible. As strange as that is.

    this is a really pretty song. sounds great in english. all the religious debate here makes me sad. me, i dont debate. i reckon if your religion makes you argue with people, you are using it wrong. as an Orthodox Christian, i have friends and family that say bad stuff about other religions and sects, but if you ask me, anyone who worships God is aces in my book. I think its hard not to notice God in your life no matter what you choose to beleive. even if you are an athiest. everyone notices God. we all just speak of Him differently.

      As much respect (a lot) as I have for the Orthodox Church and their love for Theotokos, It's obvious that The Orthodox Church did not evangelize the world, it pretty much stayed behind the borders. Corruption was present both in Rome and in Constantinople. The fact is that it's the Catholic Church that evangelized the world (and that was AFTER the great schism, the new world for an example).. . Check out what the Church Fathers said (before the schism) on the unity of the Church and the bishop of Rome and how confilcts were to be resolved.
      About the Filioque. You believe the same thing we believe. Because of the language differences through history we say 'Filioque' - which basically uses a word 'and' insteand of 'through', but the belief is unchanged (language and culture do impact the way we word our belief, not the belief itself). If you want proof of that just check out Eastern Catholic Churches' creed. It does not include Filioque and they are in full communion with Rome. Catholic.

    The Pope should repent his apostacy and reverse the mistakes (the modifications of the Western church) which the Catholic church had been through since 1054. If the Pope would return to the old traditions of the Western Church as maintained prior to 1054, in that case re-unification could take place. However, under the guise of the current Ecumanical unification, the Orthodox Church will be deprived of its Holy Mysteries and dominated by papacy.
