"For his mercy endures forever" Psalm 135 in Greek, with translation

- I loved making this video. Greek is becoming a favorite of mine to sit down and translate, and the nature of this Psalm in particular made it even more enjoyable.
As Lent approaches, I was hoping this may help prepare us for that time. It is filled with Alleluia (something we'll have to do without during Lent), but also a mention of God leading his people out of Egypt and through the desert. We ourselves are about to embark through a desert of sorts, the desert of Lent, and should remember that God is the one leading us through it, not our own strength.
I am currently working to learn to read Arabic, so expect videos with Arabic in the not too distant future.

@@schnitzel4584 Yes all you need to do to be saved is to believe in Jesus and repent of your sins(admit your sins and try and turn from them, you will make mistakes, we all do, but you just have to start walking on the path even though you may veer off and take wrong turns, just read the bible and try and follow it to stay on the path.)

All Orthodox nations have the same chants (the Byzantines) and translated them in their native language in order for the people to understand them.

As an Eastern Orthodox, during Great Lent, the Great Fast, we sing Alleluia more than we do any other of the time of the year.
We chant this particular Psalm during Great Lent, which in 2024 begins March 18th.

What I did was I learned how the letters were pronounced, so I could tell words apart, and then I would go through the sentences, and word by word would look them up on Wiktionary so that I could see a range of their possible meanings, as well as see how that particular word for grammatically into the sentence (it was kind of tough at times, as there were some words Wiktionary doesn't have in its database)
A strong base knowledge on how languages works helps make this thing possible, it has also helped me translate Russian, Ukrainian, and Church Slavonic

The Greeks settled it and administered the area even when it’s original occupants where still there and at times took it off it’s previous occupants.
If you think it’s Greek just because they colonised it for a while, the Turks can just say the same.
They are entitled to Constantinople and Anatolia for the same reason you think the Greeks are entitled to it.

The area has been continually inhabited for millennia long before the Greeks even arrived.
The Greeks established the city but that was through their settlement and colonisation through the spreading of their merchants. It’s hardly Greek lands. They arrived in an inhabited area and set up a town.

There are lots of them, hundreds of variations of all the Psalms but most of the videos are titled in Greek. If you use a Greek translator you will find more than you can listen to.
search greek orthodox chants
There are well over 200 psalms, so you should be able to find plenty, just find a psalm you like and look for a Greek translation or whatever language you want.
