What exactly do you mean by sellout?
Matt's intention of having a Patreon page set up is so that if you really like the content he puts out to the point where you think he deserves money for it then you can do so by donating to him via Patreon, it's not like the content's gonna get worse or anything, if anything, it would get better.
This is merely another way for fans to support him and little else plus you can get exclusive benefits if you do so but if you don't care about any of this stuff then that's perfectly fine, not much is changing.

It's seriously nothing like that.
Matt here likes to do something on TH-cam. If he has viewers who love to donate anything for his content, giving them the chance to do so is perfectly normal. It's offered as completely optional, there's nothing wrong with that. Just because a patreon is set-up, doesn't mean people instantly expect money.
Watching TH-cam is entirely up to you. Giving a dime/cent or anything of that matter is up to you as well.
PS: If you care about creators who put quality over quantity, I urge you to look at how TH-cam's system is a broken piece of turd.

The reason for that actually is because Matt's been working on just major projects lately which take the most time to make and that's why uploads have been significantly less frequent as of now but the plan now is to release shorter videos to fill in the gap while Matt figures out the next juicy Mario & Luigi installment.
All of this will take time to make of course and this stuff still isn't really based on a schedule although it doesn't matter so much since videos are uploaded rather inconsistently anyways but hopefully, it'll suffice.
Also, I'll let off on one last thing - Chance is releasing a new video on this channel soon-ish and while I obviously cannot say what it is, I can assure you that it'll be good stuff, stay tuned.
