If Elias gives up Mayo in a Castillo trade the O's are getting Screwed! Castillo has a sum of money attached to him! I'd give Seattle Mountcastle and one of the Prospect pitchers.
Alcantara is coming off major surgery and you have no idea how many innings he can give you or if he’s healthy. They won’t trade him now anyway. And Mayo alone isn’t getting you Jones.
@@jordanpozoulakis6498I agree, Baltimore fans are over rating Mayo or grossly under rating Jones, a proven #2 stater. Mayo does not get you Jones by himself.
I understand the sentiments about Mayo. But so far, all he has demonstrated is that he can hit AAA pitching very well. His debut in the majors was unimpressive and we don’t currently have a position for him. We have young stars who are ready to come into their own ( Westburg, Holliday, Kjerstad ) and established players like Henderson and Rutschman who will only get even better. But we MUST have pitching to really compete. You can’t lose a Burnes and think what remains will see you through. You have to try to get a pitcher who, at least, has a resume of above average performance and “comes closer” to filling the void left by Burnes. And to get such a pitcher, you have to give up something of value or perceived value.
@@silverfoxx1062 Don't give away great players or prospects. That's not going to make the team better. The owner and the general manager need to spend money in order to acquire better players and better pitching.
Nobody has signed Flaherty because he is not consistent Starter! We all saw how Flaherty did in Baltimore and the fans don't want to see Flaherty again!
Not giving up the prospects for Skubal last season was probably the end of Baltimore’s championship dreams, their pitching staff is not championship quality. Their staff has actually gotten worse, not better. Should have went for an ace when they had the chance.
Is Montgomery still a FA? I know his last season was pretty brutal, but the second half numbers look decent & he may be cheap enough to grab on a minor league deal where you could move him around.. I think we have a lefty deficit, or maybe that’s the plan now that the wall is moved further in. IDK, this has felt like the most uncertain year in a while. Either way whomever we do choose to sign, we need to do so now so they don’t miss all of spring training & suffer because of it.
Don't give up any prospects! If you give away Coby Mayo and he becomes a superstar you will realize that you made a huge mistake...a huge mistake. If Castillo gets injured we're really screwed. The ownership needs to spend money in order to acquire great talent, not give away great players.
The Os refusal to trade top prospects for Skubal, who had an incredible 2nd half, after most Os fans said he wouldn’t make it to the end. Now they have these prospects starting pile up in the minors because of lack of place to play them full time. They need to move Mountcastle to make room for Mayo, but you’re not getting much for him. Then you have Basallo is ready to go next year, what do you do with Mayo. I don’t care what anyone says both Mayo and Basallo are going to end up at 1st base or DH.
There isn't any room for all the bats....what's the point in having the prospect if they are wasting away in the minors? Might as well move some to get high end pitching
@justindom10 You're right, but I'm afraid they're going to give away (excuse me, trade away) a prospect who will turn into a superstar and the pitcher they get in return might be only mediocre. And if one of their other players winds up on the IL [Remember, O'Neill has had a hard time staying healthy for the entire season, in the past.] what are you going to replace him with? It's a tough call. Why not give them a chance and see how they perform over the course of a full season...that is, next season? Also, I don't know how good Mayo is. Is he a 20-plus home run a year guy or a 40-plus home run a year guy? It makes a difference. They should also consider putting Kherstad at first base and Holliday at shortstop (his natural position) and put Henderson at third and Westburg at second. If they're going to trade someone, Mountcastle might be high up on the list. De
Great to see John Lieberman!!!!

Mountcastle is viewed as nothing more than an average player, not something most teams would trade #3 starter for.
O's should be trading with Miami for Alcantara and trading with Pirates Mayo for J Jones player for player!

@jordanpozoulakis6498 I'm aware of this. If he's cleared to play, he's cleared! Will you say the same for Braddish?
@@DennisK-q9gAt least Orioles fans are not as bad as Yankees fans overvaluing Spencer Jones (who is not even a top 100 prospect)
@TalkingSports-k7coh, we agree there, they still think is a a top notch prospect.

No Championship is happening with Jack Flaherty! If O's sign Flaherty I will be purchasing my first Yankee's hat in 61yrs!

Pitching wasn't the problem last year. The offense disappeared in August and September.

What? No Sonny Gray? And, where is my man Kam Brice?
Castillo will disappoint. That said, I'd feel badly for Coby having to hit in T-Mobile Park..

@DennisK-q9g I'm just afraid they're going to give up/trade a prospect for a mediocre pitcher and the prospect will turn out to be a superstar.

I'd rather see the O's pass on a front line starter until midseason trade than sign that bum Flaherty!
Good luck with the starting staff. Pray the Rodriquez stays healthy, which he hasn’t proven he can, which worries me the most.
At thiss point I am undecided on Mayo I think he's to tall in stature as an infielder.
Castillo is washed up. Wouldn’t give up Ramon Urias for him.
Washed up? He is still a solid #3.
