  • Ahhh, the Black Templars. The successor chapter that is greater than the progenitor chapter. As usual we are going to be taking a deep dive into reviewing the Bayard's Revenge Emperor's Champion and then comparing it against the generic Emperor's Champion. Let's hope this figure amounts to all the hype that is behind it!

    Bayard’s revenge was one of the minis along with helbrecht and grimaldus I wanted most from Joytoy, and they did him justice. I only wish that the necklace could be worn on more figures, it does fit on the honor guard though.

      I ended up putting one of the necklaces on the generic champion because I didn't want him to be "left out"

    Would be great to know which of the Emperor’s Champion figures you like more!
    I prefer the OG Champion. A more minimalist yet imposing look. Also the wreath on the OG champion’s helmet actually hangs over the head rather than being moulded on, which I find to be a more regal look.

      I actually prefer the generic Emperor's Champion for some reason. I think that the armor looks better for some odd reason

    One of the best heads they've ever done. I have no idea how they can do heads as good as this, the Sword Bros, and the Dark Angels, while simultaneously putting out terrible heads like the Ultramarines Terminator Captain, Templars Marshal, and even Helbrecht.

      Considering that these figures are mass produced, I 100% agree with you. Some times it does boggle my mind that they can get the level and detail on all of these action figures

    Incredible figure indeed, and excellent review master chapter Sprues, your comparison between both champions was a brilliant idea!
    Hope to see more reviews like this in the future. Nice work!!!

      Thank you as always Brother Andres! The comparisons are something that I am going to do going forwards on the channel as you have seen what I also did with the UM Company/Chapter Champions and Ancients.

    To be honest, I like this Emperor's Champion variant more than the original one (which I liked a lot). I love the badass unhelmeted head and the overall jacked space marine with "no mercy allowed" attitude. Simple yet stylish look: I bought him because of the "cheap price" (compared to other figures) and for "BT-completionist spirit" - but he has now a place of honor in my display!
    I will probably use the helmeted head on some other BT, who all have very similar helmets: some variation will help!

      Interesting because I actually prefer the original Champion. I think that the armor for some reason looks better than Bayard's but that is just my opinion. Both Champions are going to be permanently displayed in my display case because they are both awesome figures

    their armor is very interesting . they look like a mix of mark 7 and mark 10 armor primaris .first i tough its a firstborn marine . even the backpack have the mark 7 top grille and side vents but in the middle there is the round mk10 round thing .

    • @SpruesNStuds
      @SpruesNStuds  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, you are correct. There is a weird mixture of various mark armors on the Champions which I think that make them quite unique compared to the rest of the figures.

    Great detailed review.
    I had problems putting the helmet head but eventually it fitted relatively stable. Since this Bayard's Revenge Emperor's Champion have a white cross painted on his helmet and a golden cross on his belt buckle I gave him the Aquila pendant and I gave the extra Cross pendant to the previous Emperor's Champion.
    Although speaking of Black Templars and Aquilas, there is a quote from the popular novel Hellsreach, where Black Templar's Reclusiarch (High Chaplain) Merek Grimaldus is saying in the beginning: "The heraldic cross stands proud on my chest, where Astartes of lesser Chapters wear the Emperor's aquila. We do not wear His symbol. We are His symbol".

      Thank you Brother! As I have said in all my videos, I spend an exhaustive amount of time reviewing these figures because I love all of them and WH40K.
      I will be honest with you, the BT were never on my radar prior to me starting to collect action figures. They along with the Grey Knights have rapidly become one of my most favorite chapters.

    • @Michael.Virtus
      @Michael.Virtus 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Black Templars and Grey Knights are my favorites too. I collected quite a bit JoyToy Ultramarines tho (started them because they were first and I was not sure if other chapters are coming let alone hoping that my favorite Black Templars will ever be covered or become such a staple line as they did). My 3rd favorite are Deathwatch, because they consist all possible chapters and are so diverse and flexible for any taste. It would be great to see some. That's for Space Marines, but what I would really love to see from JoyToy is Officio Assassinorum. The 4 main (most popular) assassin types (Eversor, Callidus, Culexus and Vindicare), would be an awesome 40k JoyToy addition.

    BLACK TEMPPLARS THE BEST. Bayards revenge I love because of his simplicity. While no icon on his chest the basic black and shield makes him look badass. the higher price tag shows he is very popular.

      NGL, as I have commented before elsewhere, before collecting these action figures the BT were never on my radar. Now that I have been, I will have to admit they have rapidly become one of my top chapters

    Still waiting for mine. I planned on getting the original Emperor's champion, but never got around for no reason really. Boy I'm I glad I dragged my heels because I actually like this version a lot. Can't wait for him and Helbrecht to join my crusade!

    Got my Bayard last week. Hopefully they make Grimaldus. Cant wait for the High Marshal. As always great video, keep it up. Also can you share where u buy your JoyToy figs at. I buy mine at BBTS and if I want the fig sooner I go to Amazon but its a gamble because some of the boxes come dented because some retailers send in in padded amazon enevelopes.

      I buy my figures at Flyimatoy. They get their figures to us people in the States pretty quickly (within 7-14 days upon release).
      Thanks for the support as usual and I will push myself to give you all the highest quality content possible. Also, Helbrecht is going to be awesome. I just received him and I want to bust open the box right now

    Deus - Latin for "god or deity" - is pronounced "Day-uss".
    Some more differences that you didn't explicitly point out, between the two Emperor's Champions: the Bayard's Revenge version lacks the additional armor plates at the hips (moving the emblem that would be on the left plate onto the upper section of the leg armor instead), the belts are obviously quite different, the greaves (lower leg armor) are different style (though still using the buckles that the original employs), and the hands are the new 3.0 style that are larger, but also in this case visually different (since the original Emperor's Champion had gauntlets that were subtly different from the other Black Templars).

    • @Michael.Virtus
      @Michael.Virtus 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      "Day-uss" is an English bastardization of the Latin word "Deus". The proper Latin pronunciation is different. Open Google Translate. Type Deus. Choose Latin. Press the audio button and listen.

    • @matthewyoho5422
      @matthewyoho5422 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Michael.Virtus I'm aware that the 2nd syllable is more of an "eww(s)" sound in Latin - that being how I personally pronounce it, when I say that word out loud (such as in phrases like Deus ex Machina) - I was just struggling with how to convey that pronunciation through text in a non-ambiguous (and therefore, helpful) manner, and turned to - oh would you look at that - Google, to produce that result of "Day-uss".
      So blame Google.

    • @SpruesNStuds

      The Chains of Devotion are made of a flexible, soft plastic so it is very easy to loop the sword around
