@@EezeeGrooverit's the place you poop, how much room do you need!? Also, having been on a cruise, you don't spend a lot of time in your room anyway. You go to your room to sleep, pee, and...poop! Evening else is walking around the boat, looking for things to do, talking to people, relaxing in the sun. If most of your time spent is in your room there's either a hurricane going on or you're sick. Beyond some weird freak event you should be out and about enjoying your time. If you're having a bad time maybe a cruise isn't for you, and instead of deciding on a nine month voyage for social media clout you should have tried a shorter trip to see if you'd like something like this?
@@ChristopherSadlowskiyou never need some peace and quiet or a break from the same 700 people you’ve been stuck on a ship with for 9 months? i would definitely need to retreat to my cave for some daily solitude in order to retain my sanity on a trip like this. needing to recharge doesn’t mean you’re anti-traveling and i hate that sentiment.
Just to clarify, it’s not pineapples as a whole, it’s very specifically upside down pineapples that are used as a sign. If the pineapple is right side up they probably just like tropical vibes.
And if the pineapple is upside down it was probably turned that way by a passer by. So disappointing

The woman who talked about the 9 months eating only cruise food and unlimited alcohol is right on point. I spent 10 days on an all-inclusive resort in South America and by the end of it I just wanted some homemade food and went on almost 6 months without alcohol because I was so sick of it, I can't imagine 9 months of it.
I’m genuinely worried for the health of the people on board!! Imagine how much weight you’d gain and the alcohol dependency
@@lolabnic I don't think it will go that far. Like the op said, I think the novelty of "unlimited alcohol" will die down and I am sure there are staff on board to make sure no one is abusing the stuff. With so many eyes on the ship I'm sure they are doing the most quality control the company has ever done. Having a problematic drunk on board would not be good for their reputation. As for the food, I can't really say because I haven't seen what variety of food they have on the ship. There maybe some health problems by the end of the cruise but over all i don't think it will be that bad, in my opinion.

As a former crew member of a Royal Caribbean brand, I feel like all of the online drama is very exaggerated, which comes from not understanding cruises in general, as well as ust general boredom. Unless there's an actual fire onboard, this cruise won't be any more interesting than a regular one.
Also, crew members often stay on the boats for 8-9 months at a time, they get way worse food and have no days off, so imagine that.
Totally agree, as former CM as well all these drama is all exaggerate, image if they had to stay inside their room like in Covid time
I also used to work onboard a Royal Caribbean ship (from the same fleet/class as the Serenade), and I 100% agree with you. I mean, I have plenty of drama stories from my time there, but they mainly relate to interpersonal issues amongst crew mates or absolute nightmare guests. All I can think will happen is at some point passengers will start getting cabin fever and will become unbearable to the crew and staff, but that happens on every ship and likely won’t be included in the followed “drama”. 🤷♀️
That's the idea isn't it? Getting young people into expensive old people vacations.
I think RCL is risking it with this one... something will for sure happen
I’m on the cruise. One thing you forgot to mention is the crew is being paid and I paid a lot of money. Two very different things.
I truly think that at 54K for the cheapest option it is privileged people on this cruise (duh have 9 months to just go sit on a boat and having that much to just spend) and it is probably the first time they have experienced being at the bottom of the financial/social caste and that is why it is being spoken about (especially pointed out by them complaining) so much. It’s nothing new and guarantee the privilege is not something they have never experienced before; they’ve just never experienced that side of it and they are not liking it. They should do a little reflecting on that
Your 100% correct. The fact they even have 54k of disposable income is crazy. Cant believe they have the audacity to whine
Oh, yes. Their issue isn’t that the pinnacle people are treating less wealthy people badly; they’re upset that they, in their minds, have been mistakenly lumped in with “the poors.” Rich people are like babies I swear 😭

As someone who hates cruises and loves drama... honestly this entire situation doesn't sit right with me. Genuinely nothing has happened yet aside from people trying to jumpstart an influencer career. Someone below said the whole situation sounds like a black mirror episode and honestly? Have to agree. We're sitting here watching rich people dance around on a boat in the hopes of schadenfreude at some point down the line, and people who are on the cruise just for the sake of being on a cruise are subjected to an outsider's scrutiny. When you search for pettiness and drama, you become petty and dramatic, and that's something that pops out more in Marc's videos the longer he spends on the cruise (oh what a struggle it must be to have to be polite to people at 7am lmao shut up). And Royal Caribbean is using this reality show expectation to sell more cruises to younger people! This feels like a fuckin op from the get go, the obsession with the idea of drama when being alive itself is an invitation for drama.
They literally came at him thouhN like its one thing to just ask them to settle down a little but it's stupid to try and gatekeep what other people do in the public areas just for YOU.

fun fact: a right side up pineapple is a symbol for hospitality, especially in the southern region of the u.s. it stems from the early stages of america, when the trade route between america and the caribbeans was extremely slow and difficult. in those days, if your host presented a fresh, ripe pineapple to you while you were visiting them, whether that be for a dinner, a party, or a longer stay it showed that the host was willing to go to any length to make their guests feel welcomed and comfortable due to the difficulty of getting a pineapple during that time. it’s still commonly used as a symbol of hospitality in the south even today. nowadays, the meaning of the pineapple has been construed somewhat. it’s positioning, however, is the tell all. being an upside down pineapple is used to tell other couples that a couple that practices “swinging.” it is meant to show that the couple is fun, spontaneous, and “plays” well with others. the exact origin and history of the upside down positioning of the pineapple is unclear, but it’s primarily used on cruise ships, where door decorations are incredibly common.
the “caste system” drama is just so laughable 😭 girl when you pay more money you get more benefits let’s not be silly
Wait until they find out about the genies 😂
Right lol there is a whole separate section for suite members bc it’s so expensive 😂 no one is tripping because it vacation lmao
I think the main reason so many are complaining is simply because they are not used to be on the lower side of their experienced “caste system”
Right? Every cruise ship has that not just this one! If someone's paying a shit ton of money for the best room no shit there's going to be more perks lol. Same with hotels. The more money spent the better the perks. If you spent the least amount of money on a room and got the same perks as someone who spent the most there'd be no point to the perks because everyone would have them. Might as well have everyone spend the same at that point lol.

It's almost as if a pseudopsychologist already tried this experiment of putting a bunch of people on a boat to see what horrible drama would occur, only to find that people are actually not that terrible. Seriously, people don't go crazy like they do on reality TV in real life. That said it's still fairly early isn't it? I'm sure plenty of the passengers who are not used to very long sea voyages will lose their enthusiasm at some point in the not so distant future. That still doesn't mean they are going to go crazy and cause drama. Likely it just means they will cut the voyage short. Very slim chance that anything truly dramatic or bad actually happens.

People getting mad that the higher paying guests are getting more benefits is probably among the top 5 silliest "dramas" so far on this cruise. Of all the things happening on this thing. When you pay less, you literally stay in a smaller room with a shittier/no view. It makes sense that higher paying/more frequent travelers have access to more experiences or options than others.
The northern lights thing is a bit wild if true though. I'm wondering what she meant by that statement, like were the lower tier members just not allowed access to the deck? It's a bucket list item for many people and doesn't cost anything to view, so I can understand being miffed about it.
@@egg62 it seems like, from what I've gathered, the members of the premier program or frequent customers or whatever they call it, they were told when the northern lights would be visible so they would know to go up on deck while others didn't. Right? If you want to complain about classism and inequality in everyday life where you can't escape it I'm 100 percent on your side but voluntarily going on a cruise that's only for rich people with almost a literal year of free time and acting like you're oppressed is hilarious
I think there will be drama, but now all the guests are riding high on the start of the cruise. Also, its a cruise, so tons of activities are planned.
The REAL drama will be the crew. That's why there's a show called "Below Deck," not "the annoying rich people who charter private cruises."
Yes.
💯💯💯
Forgetting everything else, if I had to spend more than 5 minutes around an "influencer" on that ship, at the next port, a ghost ship would be pulling into port.
this was crazy but Mike & Nancy were truly a breath of fresh air 🥰
I might be stupid, but if your seeing the northern lights from the ship, then how can it only be for the higher tiers if literally anyone can see it? Like unless they took those higher tier people on a secret midnight land trip idk how people think it’s a tiered thing
Probably they just didn't make an announcement or otherwise inform the other guest it was visible from the ship, so people didn't know to go outside to look or what part of the sky to even see it best. They could have also potentially not let other guests onto the best decks to see them from or something.
They didn’t actually take the people to see the northern lights. They were too far south. It was just a part of the meeting where they discussed the times they would be able to see the northern lights.
@@katelyn6039 ah ok
I was wondering the same thing. it could be that they restrict access to the top decks at nighttime where you’d have the best view, but allowed pinnacle Members up to see…if that were the case I would also be majorly pissed. That is not a fair or normal perk. I live in Canada so we get northern lights all the time and not only would the light pollution outside your cabin diminish the views, you might not even be able to see them. Northern light displays take up the huge part of the sky; you need to be in a field to see them, wooded areas restrict the view too much
Usually the helipad is clearer to see stars. They probably restrict that section
Marc is the only one who seemed dramatic lol. Everyone else seems super chill.
Honestly I love that the internet was baying for blood and it's just a bunch of nice people having a lovely time. Mike and Nancy are absolutely delightful and I hope Adita gets all the pineapples her heart could desire.
The older couple - living phase 2 are amazing ❤ I love them, I just started following them on TH-cam because it is definitely interesting to see what they get to do
Thank you so much for this comprehensive overview. I’ve seen so many little snippets in ticktock and didn’t have the energy to really understand it all till now
As someone who "regularly" goes on cruises, watching non-cruisers reacting to this chaos makes me laugh
So are you a retiree or something else, genuine question
@KingOfGaymes Nah, my mother is retired and enjoys cruising, so I go with her sometimes, I'm in my mid 20s
As someone with cruise experience, do u anticipate drama happening, or is the cruise experience generally not dramatic as it seems?
@@1sleepyguy42othere isn't really much drama when you're on a cruise, too many people and everyone is trying to chill, IF there's drama it's usually some old top tier people trying to start something out of nothing or it's drama in the sense that there's a storm day or "this place ran out of x"
Why did you put regularly in quotations?
I don’t really like people referring to them as “cast” or “characters”. I’m really interested to see how horrible this cruise goes (who wants to live with drunk people for 9 months with no escape??) but I hope more keep in mind these are just random people who can afford to go, not tv.
yeah i've noticed that people are adding more and more phrases like "main characters" and "cast" into their vocabulary when talking about real people in real situations, similar to calling real people "npcs". at best it's obnoxious, at worst it's troubling to see the dehumanization/fictionalization of real people becoming more and more normalized.
@@6235river exactly, they lose a lot of empathy doing that
My hero is that juggling guy and the 5 totally wasted people in the crowd just going fucking nuts for him
So basically the cruise is going very well and Marc is insanely obnoxious and/or obnoxiously insane
i’ve been on the same ship except it was for a 7 day 8 night trip with four stops. its the best vacation i’ve ever been on and i would love to go on another cruise but i can’t imagine staying on there for so long. even with all the amenities and shops and stops and excursions, it gets pretty boring sometimes. but if you look at the cost of it, you’re paying about $220 per night (my cruise was around $680 per night) so you’re getting a great deal. but, again, i don’t think i’d be able to stand a 274 night cruise
The sommelier at 30:48 must not know his stuff since Friuli-Venezia Giulia is 1) not the region where Venice is located (despite having "Venezia" in its name) 2) It is not in the center AT ALL, it's actually in the North (or North-East if you really want to be precise; it borders with Austria and Slovenia).
You found the real boat drama lol
I knew somebody else would pick up on that bullshit too
@cimpix17 lol, i've always knew sommeliers are one of those BS careers, who seem like experts on their fields... except its all a scam to convince you to buy the overpriced shit they're hawking. You mean to tell me if you drink this super fancy wine from this super fancy region, you will taste all of these exotic fruits, spices, and flavors??? No thanks sweaty, this fermented grape juice still tastes like fermented grape juice to me!😂🤣
haha i just commented about this as well, it really bothered me somehow. Glad to know I'm not the only one
oh God yes!! I am Italian and I was like: what the hell are you talking about?
So, the entire thing is like, "We were hoping for drama, but everyone seems to be just vibing"
Honestly I don’t understand how 20 year olds can afford this. I could see if old people wanting to see the world before they die would want to go on this trip, but like imagine not seeing your family *at all* for 9 months. It just seems all so surreal. How are they doing this?!
I think the younger people are either sponsored, rich or have a rich family, or maybe go into debt? i'd want to see my family but tons of people move away or go to college at that age so 🤷🏽♀
Loved the video, can’t wait for part 2. But as an Italian, I was offended when the “sommelier” said Friuli was in the center of Italy.
I like Austin's voice and the way he reports. It's not super dramatic, nor monotone. He literally sounds like my friend telling me something in a casual conversation.
Mark better figure out that he’s essentially in a small town now. Everyone knows everybody, people greet each other and all the fun of a small town. That’s why I got out of the town I was raised in as soon as possible
I love Mike and Nancy they’re so wholesome and make TH-cam videos too. Thanks for covering this so extensively!!
i sorta feel bad for the old ppl who just wanna have a relaxing cruise and are surrounded by 24/7 recording tiktokers trying to insert drama to a generic cruise xD
The couple with the wine drama is so wholesome. Thats the kind of drama I am living for. XD
People expecting "drama" on this cruise as if they are literally locked on the ship for 9 months at sea with nothing else to do but fight each other. In reality the whole point of this cruise is to travel the world, and they get off the ship to visit new cities and countries almost every day. This ship is really just the transportation and place to sleep at night, so it doesn't produce the trashy reality show that tiktok stars want it to be. Not to mention it's a bunch of old rich people who just wanna relax, not a Mr. Beast video called "SURVIVE ON A SHIP FOR 9 MONTHS".
6:32 is it just me or does that bathroom look super normal sized with a ton of built in storage and lots of counter space? I've known so many places where there's not even a counter at all in the bathroom. She describes it all as 'tiny' but it's normal size imo!
I think that's just rich people shit, it looks like a really reasonably sized bathroom to me
I’ve been on that ship twice. The bathrooms are ~ok~ size. In the suites it’s pretty much a full bathroom, all with a tub. Balcony and below it’s like a small apartment bathroom with a shower stall.
I want to hear from people who had a good time on the cruise with zero drama.
That's 0 people.
Follow LivingPhase2!
Na, cruises are full of trashy people. All drama all the time
that's unlikely to happen because they are stuck with each other for a whole 9 months. even haft a near seems to much to be stuck with strangers and samey fancy food.
Mike and Nancy seem to be having a nice time and making the best of it
I really don't get all the hype behind the Ultimate Cruise but goddamn it I like TH-cam documentaries so I'm going to watch this whole thing!! Thank you for another amazing video!!
(Also with the "pinnacle member favoritism" it feels like a no shit thing, they spent more money so not shit they're getting more perks. Yeah its unfair, but its making something out of nothing)
Edit: The couple reporting the wine "drama" was adorable they looked so excited to report on it
Edit 2: Marc Sebastian is not my kind of vibe, but I do hope he enjoys the cruise
The wine couple is the best I want to drink a whole pallet with them!!! The "good thing I like cocktails!!!" was so awesome of her
Pinnacle is actually a loyalty program. You know, like every hotel chain, cruise line, airline, and many retail stores have.
The wine couple were teasing and they are awesome. I am going back and watching all the videos they made leading up to the cruise and through where they are today.
Yeah, wine couple were my favourite.
thanks for the live updates with your thoughts
@@patibulary lol np i commented too early and had additional thoughts 😅
I cant wait for all the "my parents went on the ultimate world cruise and came home with me!" Onesies about to be made 😂
I love that marc snapped back to the people telling him not to curse!
I think of there was some kind of community goal for the cruise goers it would be a lot more interesting. Like… a board for souvenir keychains where they try to fill up a whole wall with little trinkets from all the ports they visit. Genuine art piece, brings everyone together, loads of stories to share with each other with a common goal in mind. If it’s just a bunch of people with no real incentive to communicate and interact and no connection other than being on the same boat, that feels hollow.
This is real life on a cruise lmao
That sounds like a cute idea!! Sounds like something the Disney Cruise would do
@@kaylakthulhu8623the cruisers are customers paying for an experience
You have to look at the people on the ship. They DON’T have much in common. Would you as a 25 year old spend time doing 75 year old activities for 9 months. These people span generations and are going to want to do generational things, cultural things, different things. This isn’t a social experiment cruise where the people that are chosen are fairly similar. This is just a Way for Royal Caribbean to reach as many different groups as possible through social media.
What I want to know is why, if I'm dropping $60k on a cruise, I can't have fuzzy handcuffs.
Captain left his in Amsterdam? 🥳
Just a guess, but some nation on itinerary likely has regs on police restraints, fuzzy or nickel plate cuffs!
@@dousiastailfeather9454 That's a really good point! I didn't think about that, but that makes more sense than the cruise line being prudish. 😅
@@MidknytOwl another issue would be that those things can be used for harmful purposes. those weren't even fuzzy, they're plain metal. a range of things could happen, from them being used to aid assault, to them just getting stuck and unable to unlock, and the crew not having the resources to cut them off. it's a liability.
Honestly, I think all the "drama" listed is a lot more lackluster than I was expecting. Not a bad thing. Other than the flooding and running out of wine...I feel like it's been fairly well managed.
The guy at the end who came in late game I feel like is grabbing at straws at the moment. Trying to find stuff report worthy wherever he can.
I don't know, maybe I was expecting to hear people were getting more hostile.
Only been a month though I guess at the time of this comment? So 8 more months to go.
Someone said a girl kicked her bf out of the room and told him to sleep in the hallway…wish I could find that video cause it sounded crazy
Being stuck at sea with 700+ TikTokers is not something I'd wish upon my worst enemy
This is so funny the people who are ready for the drama are being hit with just like. The wines gone! Everyone is having fun and being really nice and minding their own business it looks like
Mike and Nancy seem so sweet, they're adorable lol. They also look exactly like people named Mike and Nancy
The entertainment alone shows what age group they were marketing to. It makes sense why all these rich old people are mad a whole bunch of young influencers are inundating this cruise.
i’d be so pissed if i was a rich old person and a bunch of whiny twenty year olds ruined it
I love the “hi I’m Austin” clip in every video, it’s so genuine and humble
“this is my first time ever having tomato soup” HUH???? this girl is going on a cruise to 60 different countries and she’s never had TOMATO SOUP????
NGL, this is my plan if I win the lottery: 1) Get a financial planner, 2) Book world cruise.
Marc is carrying everyone cuz those tiktoks were boring until he showed up. He’s bringing the real drama.
because he is creating the only drama lol
Literally, his videos were hilarious.
Marc is the most obnoxious person I’ve ever watched. Rather pathetic.
“Awe whys the eagle so sad? Gasps* oh is it 9/11?” LMAOOOO
The drama we were waiting for:
OMG they gave me wire hangers
OMG they play the music too loud
OMG this person I barely know gave me the tea on another person I don’t know
First of all this man got a free ride onto a cruise ship around the world for doing nothing. All of these people are so desperate and thirsty for a tiny microscopic crumb of drama that does not exist on this cruise ship. There are people in this World who would have loved to go on this cruise. Not because they want it to be a real life reality TV show but because they really want to see the world. These people have to be the most exhausting attention seeking desperate individuals I have ever heard of. The only drama aboard this ship is that these TikTokers are privileged self-absorbed idiots with no lives beyond screen creating drama to sell to their fans. You spent Money to see the world, don’t waste it away trying to create drama that’s not there. This is a once and a life time opportunity for most people.
“The barf bags are out and the doors are closed”. 😂
22:02 In other cultures they give away pineapples to give respect and welcome. It's a sign of non-threatening and we came to show respect.
I can't wait for this to be a Netflix 'reality' show. Imagine breaking up with your partner a few weeks in. A literal NIGHTMARE.
I was JUST thinking this, like what happens if you break up? Like you can't get another room or have an argument
I dont know why the cruise gets hate. The idea of being on a ship, no job, able to just relax and have all my meals prepped sounds amazing.
It is. Otoh my husband hated it, not liking being waited on "that much" 😂 when we went on one, go figure (granted some did hover more than we think may be necessary but that's also their job, dear, I reminded him. The crew on these ships are the real stars)
@@steffymuzethe best part about a nine month cruise is the crew will pick up on your preferences.
Except that most cruise companies cut wages and often recruit exclusively from the Philippines, register their ships in Panama, usage of heavy oil, destruction of the ecosystem and the emission of a lot of CO2.
Sounds like torture. Have a small private space. Loud music all the time (according to Marc). Reheated frozen food. Limited options for food. After a week, you've seen everything on the boat. Then it is extreme boredom. It's one step up from prison except that it is voluntary and you paid for it.
I’ve been here for the fairly lighthearted drama a few other creators have covered but I really appreciate your deep dive. Definitely gives some extra context details and I enjoy the different perspectives you pulled from.
Upside down pineapples are the symbol of swingers, y’all. UPSIDE DOWN! Glad they had a sense of humor about it. 😂
that was pretty daring sending that kind of cruise ship to Drake Passage, which looks pretty rough for anyone. Possibly my favorite part of this story.
Pineapple Lady is super cute & handled this sweetly. Good for her.
i was waiting for somebody to do a deep dive on this and im so glad you did it! your dedication to presenting all of the research and facts of the case is astounding and i really appreciate it as someone that prefers long form content
I might just be mean spirited, but if I were stuck on a ship with the type of people who would want to be on a nearly year long cruise, I'd yeet myself over the side
i’m forty minutes in and i’m yet to see this “total mess” and “drama” u talked abt in the title and beginning of the video… this all just seems like a regular ass cruise w some influencers onboard?? why r u acting like this is something crazy?
