Cons: 1. little space, 2. you can hear many distracting or disturbing sounds/people while in the room, 3. motion sickness, 4. cost, 5. medical needs and costs of onboard doctor, 6. meal rotations can limit variety, 7. wifi limited and not reliable, 8. emotional - no lasting friendships onboard, missing old friends.
Pros: 1. travel in paradise, beaches and scenery 2. Hassle-free living, food made, cabin cleaned, onboard restaurants, no road traffic, 3. plentiful food choices and variety, 5. there is still a community with the temporary happy vacationers, 6. Feels good to live a soft life, being catered to.

Cruise tip: If you aren't a late-night partier and don't mind waking early, wake up at 6:30AM and take a backpack with a change of clothes to the fitness center. I like to get on the elipitical and do some light weights early in the morning and then shower and shave in the fitness center and THEN go to breakfast. Most shower stalls are 4 times the size of your cabin's shower with better water pressure and larger shower heads. There's always plenty of towels and wash clothes too. Now, you have to check fitness center hours because some ships open at 6AM and others its 7AM. I've also found that eating breakfast AFTER working out helps me choose healthier and smaller breakfast portions. If it's an at-sea day, I usually hit the fitness center again mid-day.
Good tips. Noted. 📌
When I go on vacation, I'm not worrying about working out at 6am! Or working out at all!!
@@justjo7282 I think they’re talking about living on a cruise ship and things you can do to have larger bathing space.
@Tatlone ahh, yes, that makes more sense, thanks
@@justjo7282 Opposite from me: I’ve actually never been on a cruise ship before; however, as I’m now planning a trip I think one of the best perks is “free” access to a great gym wherein I can work out multiples times a day. I love working out, but I usually do it at home because gym memberships are so expensive. When I go on “regular” vacations (non-cruise), I’m always mapping out where I’ll do my jogging, or what fitness classes I can take with the locals. But I do recognize that for many people, working out every day does not equate w a relaxing vacation.
I got you. Introverts aren't shy or scared of people. Introverts do very well with people we are just happy to be alone with ourselves and with our own thoughts. Introverts are usually creative and given to reflection. These take time and as you mentioned, quiet. But there are times when introverts may seek the company of others , but they do better with intimate gatherings rather than large crowds. Hope i got it.

Questions:
1) How do you vote?
2) How do you renew a license or identity when it expires?
3) How do you get mail?
4) How often do you have to change ships?
5) Do you go to different locations or just stay in the same areas?
6) Are you insured for cruise emergencies, thefts, etc? If so, is that worked into the cost of living?
7) How do you deal with annual preventative care like prescription glasses and exams, woman wellness care, etc?
I don't know how she handles it but most cruise ships leave from ports in large cities. For example where I live Tampa. Our port is in the downtown area. She could get a PO box for mail and visit Dr and do all that stuff not far from port. It sounds like she is from the Orlando area so she probably has a friend or family member that lives there so she could use their address as her "official" residence

On my first and only cruise about a month ago had a room right under the pool. While picking the room online with my daughter I wondered why the block of rooms were a different color. NOW I KNOW. Scraping of chairs was a problem. Worst was the night they were line dancing up there. Thundering elephants is the best way to describe it. I was rooming with my 15 year old granddaughter. It was so loud we went out and investigated in our pj's. They finally stopped at 11:30. You did a great job describing the features of the room. If I ever cruise again I will make sure I look at the floor maps above my deck to see what is above my room and stay away from the pool.

I live in a seafront resort. In the winter the snowbirds come and many of the same people come back every year. We get together and have clubs and fun activities together. In the summer the people are more transient. However many of the same people come during the same week. Believe it or not…we look forward to seeing each other.
One week I took a trip for a few days. When I got back someone came running up to me in the pool… they were so worried! They thought something happened to me. And these were people I never really met! They were just used to seeing me every summer!
Congratulations on a million views. That’s an awesome milestone.
Thank you.
Excellent presentation of the facts, Lynnelle. I took my first solo cruise at 19 and at 63 am still solo cruising. I like the independence. Mingle or not depending on my mood that day. While 82K sounds high (and it can be done cheaper as you have taught us so well), it includes everything you would need (vs want) to have to stay alive with food, shelter, transportation to new places, gym membership, etc.
Mario likely has a contract with the cruise line (as another person who lives on ships shared with me) to remain in the same cabin long term. He still runs his business remotely and likely writes some of it off. I think that Lynnelle has the right idea about being flexible and using casino and matching offers to greatly reduce the overall costs. I usually do 12-17 cruises per year on the casino’s dime. But I will be trying full time travel in 2026.

@moondog9086 Thank you for your service. Old people often just need to talk.
Lets talk about the "bathroom"...One year my family and I decided to go on a private, charter 7 day blues and zydeco cruise (had a blast btw). On one particular day the seas were rough - i mean REALLY rough - and, on that particular night (very rough seas mind you) I'm waiting for my brother to get ready for our evening dinner. I'm sitting on the bed holding the "end table" for stabilization, when suddenly, the bathroom door flings open, my brother (who's naked as a jaybird) looks at me (which I'm in shock) and sez "Top of the mornin' to ya" and hops back into the bathroom....That particular incident was an EXCELLENT dinner conversation with the rest of the family. ;) To this day periodically - when we're gathered - all I have to say is "top of the mornin' to ya" and everyone starts crackin' up...that incident will haunt him for the rest of his earth life. The End :)

Yaaaay. Thanks for the feedback. My effort is helping people. #LifeGoals 🏆
How much does it cost?@@PovertyToParadise
I live on the 36 ft sailboat and you don't need a lot of room. My monthly expenses for electricity HOA cable television Wi-Fi trash and sewer pump out is $250 a month

😊Love your positive attitude and bright spirit,
Yesss!
🛳️ I’m so happy you’re loving your new home on board! It’s not my cup of tea (I love my garden & dog) but you enjoying yourself is heartwarming 👍
I had no idea anyone could live on a cruise ship?! That’s awesome ❤
no chores ❤ what a blessing
sure, a blessing. and what do you call the negative stuff? curses?
How refreshingly wholesome is this TH-cam video! I don't think I'll be able to LIVE on a cruise ship but maybe our paths will one day cross 🙂
💝
Your channel has blown up SO MUCH since I was last here a couple months ago! Wow!! So happy for you Sis! Thank you for sharing your experience. Much continued success!
1:21 My bathroom is about half of that size. I live in a small RV. You don't need large rooms to have big fun!
Amen 💯🏆🎉
I would love to experience van life!
I live in my rv with my husband of 30 years. No you don’t need a lot of space to live and be happy.
Think she’s just telling ya not to bring your rubber ducks
@@jennlps2024it isn’t claustrophobia but I need to feel outdoors. An open window, a breeze, something
Good info. Thanks!
Oh wow! I truly appreciate the financial support! Thank you so much as that is encouraging and let's me know I am on the right track of providing valuable info. I appreciate you very much. 💗🏆🎉🙌🚢
Wow! I'm honestly terrified of cruise ships (sea sick, claustrophobic and the germs you can catch 😖) so I have no idea how I got here lol but this was so informative and interesting! My partners parent's love cruising and half the time I think they'd do this if they could, they do at least 6 a year! Cruises have always sounded fun initially but I think I couldn't get over my issues to actually enjoy it. I'm glad you've found a way to make it work for you! You seem like a lovely woman, I can see why people gravitate toward you on ships. Hoping you continue to have safe, healthy and amazing trips! 💜
Aw, thank you for the kind words and thanks for stopping by. 👋🏽🤗🌻
I’m so happy to see your video blowing up. You deserve it. Now watch all the copycat come and create a similar video to the capitalize on your views. Way to go sis.
Ha! Thanks. I think that's fine as they will bring their perspective and personality and I tried to keep it short but substantive and there are some things that I did not bring up (like not having pets) that someone else will be able to bring more insight. I don't believe in the crabs in the bucket mentality. I think there is room at the top for everyone. #LetsDoIt! Thank you so much for the encouragement. 🤗💞🚢
@ love your attitude. That’s why you’re blessed.
Your spirit is delightful. I laughed at your “no chores, soft life”. Can completely relate. Chores, housework, traffic, and grocery shopping in midlife are a complete drag!😂 I am all in for sunshine, beaches, and ice cream for breakfast.
😂😅😆🎉
I always wanted to know what it's like to live on a cruise ship. Thanks for sharing your experience!❤🙏
About 16 years ago I had a boyfriend and we used to cruise, we discussed living on a cruise ship, it was cheaper back then. It would be fun to make friends with others who live on ships and book the same cruises. You would have friends to do things with without having to establish a new friendship each trip plus plenty of space to do your own thing.
I don’t think I could give up my home but being a snowbird and spending winters on a ship for a few months would be ideal !!!
Thanks for your insight !!!
🏆
You just found your calling! You’re helping so many people by your extraordinary expertise and experience living on a cruise ship. You are the “GOAT”! Thank you for sharing. Aloha from Hawai’i.✊🏼🌺🤙🏼
THANK YOU! Not my first time being called an animal, but my first time being called a GOAT! #Winning! 😂🏆🙌💞
As soon as I heard about the noise, I know I'm never even going to vacation cruise. That's unacceptable. Thanks for this info! I haven't seen anyone else ever speak about that.
You are welcome. 🤗 As in life, this is not for everyone which is why I made the video. I encourage everyone to find their happy place and what works for them. Best wishes and thanks for stopping by. 🚢
I've been on two cruises on the royal caribbean line. I was on an inside cabin. I don't ever remember hearing any noise from other rooms. Or from above me. Maybe I just got lucky.
I agree, you will have constant changing of cabin people, doors open closing , I hate hotel for same reason I never sleep properly . Those ear buds annoy me, ( I can still hear noise) Maybe after time you would get used to it !!! Some people can sleep anywhere , my friend could sleep on rocks if she had to ….. I wish .
How do you get board eating from the food choices “ what are they eating at home ???? Really good cooked and handed to me wonderful ..
That hasn't been my experience and I have taken many cruises.
Hi Lynnelle, thanks for sharing your journey. I love it when people are able to shred the toxic areas of their life and move forward with their best self and just be happy. 🥂 cheers to you for living your easy breezy life. Keep on cruising ❤
You've been through a lot. You n deserve a happy life. 😊
Thank you! You too!
After a hard day's work, I like to lie in bed and watch people on yt do all kinds of stuff that I'd probably never do. I'm so glad this channel just popped up on my feed because you seem such a nice, calm and own to earth person. Can't wait to watch more of your videos. Subbed.
Welcome aboard. Thanks for subbing!
You certainly deserve the “soft life” and I have enjoyed a number of cruises, but realized I do not enjoy the “who are you?” Questions and re-telling my story over and over again. I like living in a more permanent community where I can build on the connections I’m making and developing ‘history’ with folks; and I’d be sad to miss out on certain family events. You enjoy and keep sharing!!
Fair enough!
My 21 yr old daughter has been working on a cruise ship since Aug. This is her 3rd contract since she's 18 and she loves it cruise life. Luckily she gets lots of time to disembark and see the islands/ beaches being a dancer in the shows. One thing she is sick of is the food especially for staff choices. So when she gets an opportunity she'll eat on shore or in the specialty restaurants. I was going to join her in Feb but couldn't manage this yr even with her staff discount. I have yet to go on a cruise but would love to try and have traveled alone in the past! This was very informative regarding living on a ship. This is my first time seeing your videos. I enjoyed it! ❤
@Shilo2020 I was entertainment on a cruise ship in my hey day, i absolutely loved it too. Now I'm 60 and the thought of a cruise is terrifying. Lol. Too many ppl .
I love your channel! I retired a few years back and cruise 10-12 times each year. I can relate to the cruise pros and cons you share, and have also learned some new cruise tips. I pack really light as you do since I do not like to check in luggage on a plane or cruise. I hope someday I see you on a cruise! Keep up the awesome content! Appreciate you.
Have the slightest clue how this ended up in my algorithm, but i literally couldn't stop watching! Carnival, Virgin... Where's the sponsorship? 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
This is the first time I've seen you and I'm all in!! Only if I can be your neighbor 😄 I haven't been on a cruise for a few years but I do enjoy taking cruises. Carnival is my favorite. But you have such a winning personality! I'm currently separated, I've lived in my current town for 12 years and I have no friends here & I'm an only child with next to no relatives so you've certainly given me something to think about 😊
Hi friend 👋🏽🤗💝 welcome aboard 🏆🛳
The 3 best things of living on a cruise ship - someone to clean my cabin, cook my meals and I can be at a very beautiful beach. That's the things I'm looking forward to the most when I get to live on a cruise ship, for at least 6 months. I'm a picky eater (only eat 35 items) and have been eating the same things over and over for over 40 years, so that's easy. When I want something different, there's always port food. I've solo-cruised several times, live alone on land, am an only child, so enjoying visiting the Caribbean and talking to the locals is an easy thing.
@@SherelleWallace I work full-time and use to cruise 5 times a year when I had a job that gave me 29 days of vacation. Got laid off that job, but now have another one with almost 3 weeks vacation annually, so I cruise as much as I can. I cruise with family, solo and with friends. Nope, I don't blog, I don't think I have enough to say to blog, just living my life as an empty-nester and enjoying life as much and as often as I can. I'm way too shy to be a TH-camr. I enjoy Lynelle's videos, her life and her personality. I'm an introvert that can talk to a few people in person; don't think that I'd do well on TH-cam at all. I love the feel and the view of the ocean (as they say, "it's in the blood", my father was a merchant seaman for many years and my son worked on a boat for over 10 years; we enjoy the sea life.
@@SherelleWallacerespectfully you don’t have to say everything that you think. The sentence that the TH-camr doesn’t hold your attention was unnecessary to the rest of your post. Unnecessary and inconsiderate. Imagine if someone said that to you. How do you think that you would feel? Your comment doesn’t even offer any constructive advice. It’s just extraneous and not nice. I encourage you to use kindness whenever possible.
In Oct 2024, I went on a 16-day Hawaiian cruise. I had only been on one cruise previously, a 7-day Eastern Caribbean in Nov 2006. After that first cruise, I loved it and entertained the idea of working on a cruise ship. I had seen articles about retirees living on a cruise ship. However, after the 16-day cruise on the Pacific Ocean with the rough ocean waves, that cured my thoughts of ever living on a ship.
On the way back from Hawaii, the huge ocean swells caused by a hurricane threatening Mexico (this was not long after Hurricane Helene which devastated parts of FL, SC, NC, GA, TN) made it nearly impossible to walk on the ship for the next 5 days without appearing or feeling we were drunk. At night, we were tossed around in our beds. I said no more 16-day cruises for me anywhere, or at least not with 10-1/2 sea days. 😂
In late Feb I'll be going on another Caribbean cruise, my first as a solo. Thankfully, I will have a group of friends also on that cruise to hang out with.
@@SherelleWallace Good luck with your writing and your business. I hope that we are all able to have the life we want regarding cruises.
As for the food choices, if I chose the same selection from the first day menu each time on three cruises as mentioned, that is the same thing three times in the month. I seriously doubt that most people have more choices at home than on a cruise. I've been on 29 of them, one time for seven weeks.
Hello just came across your channel. You are so refreshing.! I can hear the genuine joy and happiness in your voice! May the Lord continue to strengthen, guide, and keep you in perfect peace!
Congrats on the viral video- way to use the words!🎉
Wow! You just popped on my feed. How lovely and interesting you are! Never have guessed you were introverted.
Congrats in growing your channel so quickly. That’s an enviable feat.
I’ve read articles on individuals living on cruise ships, but you are the first channels I’ve found about doing it.
Our work ethic is very similar, but I’m in my 60’s at this point & I have pets, so I couldn’t do this, but it fascinates me.
Only been on a couple cruises, but enjoyed it & I have Meniere’s ear disorder and I only had 1 queasy episode.
Will be watching your other videos.
Oh wow. What a compliment. Thank you so much. I totally understand not wanting to leave your babies. 🤗💕 Thanks for watching and welcome aboard. 👋🏽🛳
Thank you for a most interesting and thought provoking video.
This felt like a nice warm chat, rather than "selling something".
Happy to learn a new way of thinking!
Happy Cruising 😊
I’m an introvert too. And I love the water. Happy sails to you
Loved the "real talk" on this topic.
Yes, whatever decision a person makes, it should be with eyes opened. Very very good video.
Thanks for sharing this. I had a friend who worked on a cruise ship and she said their living quarters were super crowded and she worked so much that it was kind of stressful. Also I'm a single woman who works remotely and moved to Costa Rica thinking it'd be a paradise. Boy, was I wrong! There is SO much noise every day from people talking very loud, living in small houses very close to each other (with different building standards than the US so you hear everything), barking dogs, trucks, loud music, etc. The electricity would go out, the stoves weren't connected to gas permanently, internet was a problem, the driving was extremely unsafe, etc. The culture was not at all friendly to an adult woman with no man or kids so that was a nightmare, too, and all I can say is I'm happy to move back to the US even if it's a studio apartment.
I hope you enjoy other aspects of cruise life! I do appreciate your adventurous spirit so go live life however you feel like. Thanks again for the insights!
What a wonderful video with a well-rounded perspective on the cruising life! You are a delight!!! Be Blessed!!
Thank you so much!
This was an excellent episode. Very informative.
You come across so nice and genuine. Its refreshing.
Happy for you living your best!
Hey Lynnelle! I used to think I couldn't live on a cruise ship but the more I cruise, I think I could do it. At least for 4 - 6 months lol. You definitely had some great pros and cons. I think the pros might outweigh the cons for me!
Hi Jeff. 👋🏽 Yeah, I feel you are very adventurous, like to try new places and are flexible...if you tried it for 4 - 6 months, I think it would be hard for you to go back to living on land. 😆🤗 Thanks for watching 🛳
Wow, what a great positive and likable person!! First time watcher and already a fan!! 🙏
Hi there. I have been thinking about retiring on a cruise ship but I think no, after watching your video. I don’t think I can do the cost and the thin walls but the food would not bother me. And health issues are also an issue. What a great life you have. Your review is so thorough and you are so joyful. you are a joy to watch. You covered everything that anyone could want to know. Thank you and it’s so nice to see someone who’s enjoying their life and choices.
That's fine. There are very few of us who can do it. Thanks for stopping by. 🤗🌻🛳
Some people retire to cruise ships to save money. If your physical mobility has declined due to age and you need help cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, etc, the average price for assisted living is over $5,000 per month. That means it's cheaper to live on a cruise ship because they do all the things assisted living facilities do, and even a $1,000/week cabin ends up being cheaper.
Can you talk about safety when it comes to solo cruising (things to keep in mind when doing excursions, some things you implement safety wise while on the ship, etc)? Love your content! Congratulations on your subscriber milestone! 🎉
Hi and welcome. Thanks for the suggestion. I try to make videos that the majority of the viewers want to see. Have noted 📌this suggestion. Thank you.
Thanks for all that info! It was such a pleasure to watch your video - you’re so upbeat!
You are such a pure person! ❤
Thank you for your honesty. The noise would be my biggest issue. NO way.
I just discovered your channel today and am thrilled! You’re a delight to watch. Your videos will be fantastic for cozy relaxation before bed this winter. Be well!
