As someone who followed Jared through it all back when he was on Screwattack, I remember the drama was insane in 2019 and I waited to see what Jared was gonna do...And...He lawyered up, got the receipts, and actually did a great job to prove his case....too bad the internet didn't want to even listen...

Stories like this is why I'm convinced the online drama scene is a kind of blood sport for modern times. At the very least, it plays to out baser instincts of wanting to see people engage in a very public confrontation that will likely not end well for at least one of them, if not all of them.

The ProJared drama, to me, opened the eyes that 90% of drama is BS, and you basically should ask “But did you file a police report for that?” before even contemplating forming an opinion.
It's hardly limited to the internet. The internet just amplifies the noise and intensity of these kinds instincts toward cruelty humans can have. You see someone better off than you fall, some people get the urge to kick them while they're down, just because you've got an opening. It's definitely worse in the online space though. Here's the thing, that said, none of these online commentators are professional in any sense, they have no code of conduct to adhere to, no standard of behaviour. If punching down gets you those clicks and makes you money, they'll do it.

That situation was one of the most infuriating cancellations I've ever seen, really went to show what a cesspool Twitter is and how easily most TH-camrs will throw aside their morals if it means making a few extra bucks. I will never understand how people get so much joy out of dog piling on others and seeing their lives destroyed.

But there is a key element here, he DID get nudes from minors. Showing just how bad his age verification was. And if he didn't think he could age verify, he probably should not have put himself into that position at all. Jared is the reason everyone saw his cock, and Jared is the reason he was even in a position these accusations could be made against him. He isn't exactly innocent, he just isn't a predator. But his neglect is equally as dangerous, and I hope he learned a lesson from this. Because I can't bleach the sight of his cock from my brain.

I definitely think ProJared's story was a watershed moment in TH-cam drama. It was one of the first big examples of a TH-camr successfully recouping a significant amount of their credibility and social standing, as opposed to simply digging their own grave deeper. His online presence may be permanently diminished; and it's hard to say if that's due to regular burn out, or lingering stigma from the initial incident, or both; but I do feel like his tragic downfall was a major turning point that made people more critical, more skeptical, and more rational when it came to these kinds of controversies and accusations. Obviously, I wish it hadn't cost him so much, but there's a silver lining, and I think that's important.
And in a weird way, he was proven to be a decent guy. If he did actually abuse his fans or had explicit interactions with minors online, the victims would have had all the incentive and confidence to come out and expose him for it.

I had a friend who was a big fan of ProJared, I was unfamiliar with him myself. When all this went down I felt a little bad because I thought my friend might feel betrayed, but we lost contact for unrelated reasons. I hope he held out and remains a fan.
The incident taught me first how I should not trust even my eyes and alerted me that there are people who no matter how much you hang out with them, they will want your fall and will work to destroy you just for fame.
It was a learning point for me too. Although I knew to wait for his side of the story, I waited for so long that I took his silence as an admission of guilt. Lo and behold, it took just a bit longer for that to come out. Learned that things aren't always what it seemed and just to wait a bit before rendering judgment, a lesson that came in handy for a completely different situation later on.
I wound up feeling guilty for siding with the mob at the time when it all went down, I recently re-subscribed back to Porjared despite watching the debunking video when he released it. Took some time to reflect but in truth he deserved better and we were all fools for not believing him.

I think this is an important lesson in "Evidence does not equal Fact." This is something that is lost on the mob mentality and gets sadly drowned out when drama like this crops up. Part of what made his response video so legendary to me to this day is how usually those type of videos start with a somber mood, and a while to get to the topic with awkward sentences and filler. Jared's response video literally started with "Hey, what's up? *Anyway;"* it always felt like such a power move that he just starts it making his point almost immediately rather than try to paint himself as a sympathetic victim.
I actually met ProJared when I was working at a movie theater. I was working the concession stand and he came up. I talked to him and said, "You look like ProJared" and he said, "I get that a lot." Eventually he told me it was him. It was hilarious lol.
Sad thing is, this still isn't the whole story. Charlie and Chai were friends with two women who admitted in all the initial drama that they had catfished and blackmailed Jared, telling him to pay them or they'd release his nudes. (And yes, there is proof of all this.) The catfishers publically bragged about routinely catfishing and blackmailing men, and Charlie was a member of this group, all of whom, catfishers and Charlie, are cosplayers like Heidi. Charlie lives very near Jared and Heidi, is a cosplayer, and another friend of theirs, also a cosplayer, is posing with Heidi and calls Heidi her idol. All of this was set up by people who knew Heidi.
I'm a fan of Jared even met him twice when he came to cons in my state; absolutely sweet and funny guy, he even remembered me. It sucks that he got pushed through the wringer and I felt so bad for him. I'm happy he's still making good videos and I love his FF retrospectives recently.
Cosplayed with him at Onicon one year in a Final Fantasy group cosplay (he was Thief, I was Black Mage, Marzgurl was Red Mage, FirstKnight Josh was Fighter, and Heidi was a really awesome White Mage). The users that made up all the lies about ProJared on Twitter were also wrapped up in the UK TH-cam community as I recognised the usernames. They’d send incendiary replies and tweets to myself and friends and when this all blew up it felt like they finally got the attention they wanted but very glad it blew up in their faces.

Not only internet. There are many cases of people getting lynched (sometimes to death) just to be found innocent afterwards. For a long time Jared fan watching all the drama unfold was painful. Seeing a channel get destroyed like that (a channel he worked really hard on nonetheless) was very upsetting. I was so glad when he came back. Maybe his channel will never recover for the aftermath of the drama but it's still nice to watch new videos he puts out. He works hard on them so he really deserves more success.

I used to follow him, until the drama in 2019. While I don't follow him anymore, mainly because of my own change in content interest. I do regret some of the things I was so quick to believe and said offline while speaking with others. I am just glad the truth is out and everyone has moved on from it.

Jared gave an honest explanation, addressing everything that happened, and gave a genuine apology. He defended himself coherently and with facts, without insulting those involved, and for that I give him kudos.
I remember tuning into his first Twitch stream after everything went down, and watching how grateful and overwhelmed he was with the support was a moment that will live with me forever. Dude was in tears at points, and the sub-train lasted for like an hour or two.
Yeah I remember watching the 6 hour return stream on Twitch and the 3 hour vod of it on TH-cam and crying with him throughout the whole thing too. It was very emotional and unforgettable moment.
I see this as a Rise, Fall, and Rise again of Jared rather than a fall. He's enjoying what he's doing, he's happier than he was, and his content is still good. I will never understand how folks will make themselves out as perfect and better than Jared enough to attack him.

I only became aware of the controversy when seeing Jared’s video “you’ve been lied to”. Because I would actively check for new uploads from him. I really enjoyed his content. After hearing his side. I looked at as much of the rest as I could. And I gotta say, his sex life is none of my concern. His marriage isn’t either (provided we wasn’t actually abusive). It sounds like a horrible break up and I’m glad he got through it.

I met Jared at Zulu's in Bothell, WA. I recognized him even with his mask on and he was super cool. let me get a pic with him then we talked about content (I'm a very small streamer/sometimes youtube uploader). Got to tell him how much I loved his OG Nuzlocke with Nuptup (Oddish). Anyway, what happened to him was disgusting. He didnt do anything wrong. His kinks are his own but nothing he did with/showed that girl was outside of consent at all.

This whole thing was a chaotic mess and in regards to the whole cheating/not-cheating/poly/not-poly mess especially. However, it’s messy in the “you shouldn’t open your marriage in an attempt to fix it, that’s not healthy” kind of way. Like Jared says, that’s the private kind of mess that shouldn’t involve or affect us. But the Tumblr stuff is the finest example of actually having receipts to shut down nonsense cancellation fails. Textbook perfect example of how to handle that BS.

This reminds me so much of the Slazo situation. No matter how many times this happens, no one will ever learn or change their behavior. It's not about actually holding people accountable for their actions, it's never been about that. It's just sad, pathetic people trying to convince themselves that their high horse is the highest.
I suspect part of that is because on the Internet, everything lasts. And if you're someone like Philip DeFranco, who makes his living reporting and the news and presenting as reliable, you're not going to pull an about face and apologize, because to the audience you're trying to cultivate, that would make you come across as wishy-washy. I actually met Jared about 10 years ago at SGC 2013, and he was really such a nice guy and was more than happy to take both a photo with me, but also entertain the idea of being the “jerk” on camera while I was recording with a camcorder (this was a long time ago, kids lol). He was one of those creators for me that when this news broke out, I was hoping for a happier resolution, and I was happy to see that he truly was the lovable dork I had met all those years ago after all.
Jared handled himself through this whole ordeal pretty maturely. He waited until he had enough evidence to prove his side before making a statement video, he didn't air his dirty laundry on social media like his wife at the time did and I recall hearing he voluntarily left NormalBoots to avoid causing trouble for them. I don't know when or if Jared's channel will return to its former glory, but he's done really well putting this whole thing behind him.

What I regret the most, is I joined in on the cancel culture when it had happened. He was my top favorite TH-camr to watch, but my own colors showed as soon as something happened. He was right about the fact that his personal life had nothing to do with us. Even if he had cheated, he didn't murder anyone, he didn't do anything illegal. However the outage of the accusations, I was definitely shocked by and I think that's what really made me join the cancel culture. After he uploaded his response video, I felt relieved, but also guilty. I love his content today and I still watch him.
I was also a part of the whole Jared cheats on his hot wife with a lesser attractive woman clash, and looking back on it now. I'm a dumbass. It's funny to me because, Holly is the type of person I'd be more attracted towards than Heidi. Really feckin dumb.

Here's the problem with Heidi's response. She lied at the beginning. She came out of the gate with malice and the intent of making Jared look as bad as possible with "TODAY I LEARNED MY EX-HUSBAND WAS FUCKING HOLLY BEHIND MY BACK" and then, after proof was shown of this not being true "Well, I did know about this, but I tried to make it work." You see, if she lied about that and she admited that, why should we believe anything she says? Jared and Holly put up proof of their side of the story, Heidi just has the value of her own word, and she already run it throw the mud with that first malicious lie.
The ProJared situation really reminds me of a line from an old Simpson's episode. A joke then, but far too common in recent years. "Your tears say more than real evidence ever could."
Thank you Joon for giving this story attention, a lot of TH-cam commentators made videos about him when he was down but never when he had the receipts.
This is a relatively minor point, but the May 2019 debacle also effectively ended one of my favorite series: Dice Camera Action. Holly and Jared worked on that series with Chris Perkins, Anna Prosser, and Natewantstobattle for years and it was still going strong after over 130 episodes. After all this happened, the series ended immediately. Holly, Anna, and Nate have all been able to appear in other professional D&D series since then, but I really miss that show.
Yeah, I felt so bad for Chris, Anna, Nate, Jared, and Holly when that horrible situation canceled that show. Heidi successfully took down that important part of Jared and Holly’s careers, and that’s just despicable and disgusting. That’s one of the reasons why I’ll never forgive Heidi, she’s a very spiteful woman who will take anyone she hates down to get what she wants. I’ve been around people like Heidi before in toxic friendships/relationships in the past, that’s how I knew Heidi was bad news.
Man... It's sad to see that his former partners are at multiple million subs and on partnerships while Jared was ultimately left alone with a shadowbanned channel and a blacklisted presence on the internet. He's still one of the most talented game reviewers and presenters on the platform btw.
This whole situation is a perfect example of people just showcasing their own rotten cores. Everybody just got real 3rd grader-y with it and started insulting these people's looks. I couldn't agree more. It was perfect encapsulation of what these people find important - appearances. It was all shallow and transparent; the internet equivalent of trash TV. And like you said, for all the body-shaming, it was a whole lot of people who probably shouldn't be throwing stones themselves (by their own standards). And don't get me started on that same community's silence on those who shared his nudes without permission. I wasn't super tuned into this situation when it happened but this breakdown is really enlightening. Drama videos can be entertaining but it's important to remember that these are people and just because you hear something on the internet doesn't make it true.
The internet really magnifies peoples' psychological issues and puts them on full display. It's like parts of the human subconscious turned inside out. You can really tell a lot about someone when they get emotionally inflamed about something that has little to no personal relevance to their actual lives, as in, their firsthand experience of existing outside of technological augmentation via the internet.

I've been guilty of joining in the mob mentality a few times before. This was the first time I had to stop and look at myself and what I was doing. I acted like I was above it all but still immediately took the allegations as fact. It's honestly quite scary how I genuinely considered turning on one of my favourite content creators just because the mob told me to. Granted I didn't get that involved outside of a few remarks (Not at his appearance though. I don't recall going that far.) but it's the way I was swayed so easily that gets to me to this day. I still slip sometimes but I'm trying to be better now.
Assumptions can tell you a *lot* about human psychology, especially the individual who is expressing or operating based on assumption. Assumptions are the root of so much interpersonal strife and conflict that could be prevented by being a bit more open-minded and not so quick to jump to conclusions. Honestly, seeing through assumption can be a blessing and a curse. The blessing part is obvious from what I already said here, but it can be a curse because assumption is such a common phenomenon that if you try to pick each one apart as they come up and address them immediately, it can drive you "crazy" (metaphorically). I speak from experience here. At some point you have to just let them slide and work around them despite knowing the deeper roots of them, because the person making the assumptions won't take very kindly to your perspective, otherwise they wouldn't be so attached to said assumptions in the first place. I think this was an important lesson for a lot of people. I've always (as in throughout my late teenage and adult life) enjoyed thinking about the internet at its current stage as being in its "teenage hormonal" phase, as a lot of people are taking lessons from public events (such as this or the Depp vs Heard trial) to continue maturing bit by bit. I'd love to see the internet in its "wisened old sage" stage of maturity haha.
Man this could almost be a modern Milgram experiment. Doing always as the mob says, relieving oneself of all responsibility and just accepting "orders" or in their case evidence as universal truths without thinking for oneself for even a second. It's so disgusting what people can do. How they jump on bandwagons just because it's popular. How hatefully people can be even though they don't know you. I know that Jared isn't a saint, none of us are. But it was just crazy to me the amount of hate the internet conjured, reaped the benefits, and left unapologetically when Jared finally defended himself. Very few internet personalities have endured what he has and for him to still be around and thriving is amazing.

As much as I hate to bring it up, Vinesauce had a sort of cancelation attempt made against him a couple years ago. In the wake of the whole ProJared debacle, it was really crazy to see the entire community back up Vinny. It's heartening that sometimes we do learn from our mistakes.
the issue I have with that drama is howguys like Mandalore got away scottfree. Was the first who tweeted about it , made a followup to reaffirm his believe in the legitemacy of the document, only to walk back on it after fanbacklash grew more than support. No half-hearted appology will make me support Mandalore ever again. Because fact is: he wouldnt have apologized if vinny's fans werent so vocal in their support. He is a snake and his youtube career is bigger than ever, whereas Vinesauce sometimes still has that lingering smell, where he says something related to the situation but out of context and people bring it up in the comments. its just unfair

This is why you do not condemn someone the moment an accusation is thrown at them. I know on the other end it’s painful for a victim to step forward and not be heard, but the sad truth is sometimes people do lie. There are two sides to every story. The internet is far far too quick to judge and call for execution without a full picture.

because people are hypocrites, they use image as an excuse to harass somebody but when it so happens to come out that he is not as bad as the stories wanted to paint him to be, when people only wanted to cancel him, then people start saying he is good looking, or average at best. I was one of the few youtubers that made a video defending the dude, got 70% dislikes 30% likes and people disagree with my reasons just to little later on come out to be true all along. Some people should live with themselves longer and face hardships, perhaps that will make them good capable friends one day.

As someone who followed Jared through it all back when he was on Screwattack, I remember the drama was insane in 2019 and I waited to see what Jared was gonna do...And...He lawyered up, got the receipts, and actually did a great job to prove his case....too bad the internet didn't want to even listen...

Stories like this is why I'm convinced the online drama scene is a kind of blood sport for modern times. At the very least, it plays to out baser instincts of wanting to see people engage in a very public confrontation that will likely not end well for at least one of them, if not all of them.

The ProJared drama, to me, opened the eyes that 90% of drama is BS, and you basically should ask “But did you file a police report for that?” before even contemplating forming an opinion.
It's hardly limited to the internet. The internet just amplifies the noise and intensity of these kinds instincts toward cruelty humans can have. You see someone better off than you fall, some people get the urge to kick them while they're down, just because you've got an opening. It's definitely worse in the online space though. Here's the thing, that said, none of these online commentators are professional in any sense, they have no code of conduct to adhere to, no standard of behaviour. If punching down gets you those clicks and makes you money, they'll do it.

That situation was one of the most infuriating cancellations I've ever seen, really went to show what a cesspool Twitter is and how easily most TH-camrs will throw aside their morals if it means making a few extra bucks. I will never understand how people get so much joy out of dog piling on others and seeing their lives destroyed.
The thing is though, Jared created this situation as much as anyone. He had a nude blog where he didn't age verify ANYONE. He trusted the honor system. But if you look at his content, it'd be impossible to think he doesn't have a good chunk of children fans who are easily influenced. He was always going to end up getting or sending nudes to a minor because of how he operated. He got incredibly lucky that the minors he DID get nudes from, lied to him. But there is a key element here, he DID get nudes from minors. Showing just how bad his age verification was. And if he didn't think he could age verify, he probably should not have put himself into that position at all.
Jared is the reason everyone saw his cock, and Jared is the reason he was even in a position these accusations could be made against him. He isn't exactly innocent, he just isn't a predator. But his neglect is equally as dangerous, and I hope he learned a lesson from this. Because I can't bleach the sight of his cock from my brain.

I definitely think ProJared's story was a watershed moment in TH-cam drama. It was one of the first big examples of a TH-camr successfully recouping a significant amount of their credibility and social standing, as opposed to simply digging their own grave deeper. His online presence may be permanently diminished; and it's hard to say if that's due to regular burn out, or lingering stigma from the initial incident, or both; but I do feel like his tragic downfall was a major turning point that made people more critical, more skeptical, and more rational when it came to these kinds of controversies and accusations. Obviously, I wish it hadn't cost him so much, but there's a silver lining, and I think that's important.
And in a weird way, he was proven to be a decent guy. If he did actually abuse his fans or had explicit interactions with minors online, the victims would have had all the incentive and confidence to come out and expose him for it.

I had a friend who was a big fan of ProJared, I was unfamiliar with him myself. When all this went down I felt a little bad because I thought my friend might feel betrayed, but we lost contact for unrelated reasons. I hope he held out and remains a fan.
The incident taught me first how I should not trust even my eyes and alerted me that there are people who no matter how much you hang out with them, they will want your fall and will work to destroy you just for fame.
It was a learning point for me too. Although I knew to wait for his side of the story, I waited for so long that I took his silence as an admission of guilt. Lo and behold, it took just a bit longer for that to come out. Learned that things aren't always what it seemed and just to wait a bit before rendering judgment, a lesson that came in handy for a completely different situation later on.

The catfishers publically bragged about routinely catfishing and blackmailing men, and Charlie was a member of this group, all of whom, catfishers and Charlie, are cosplayers like Heidi. Charlie lives very near Jared and Heidi, is a cosplayer, and another friend of theirs, also a cosplayer, is posing with Heidi and calls Heidi her idol. All of this was set up by people who knew Heidi.

For a long time Jared fan watching all the drama unfold was painful. Seeing a channel get destroyed like that (a channel he worked really hard on nonetheless) was very upsetting. I was so glad when he came back. Maybe his channel will never recover for the aftermath of the drama but it's still nice to watch new videos he puts out. He works hard on them so he really deserves more success.

I used to follow him, until the drama in 2019. While I don't follow him anymore, mainly because of my own change in content interest. I do regret some of the things I was so quick to believe and said offline while speaking with others. I am just glad the truth is out and everyone has moved on from it.

I actually met Jared about 10 years ago at SGC 2013, and he was really such a nice guy and was more than happy to take both a photo with me, but also entertain the idea of being the “jerk” on camera while I was recording with a camcorder (this was a long time ago, kids lol).
He was one of those creators for me that when this news broke out, I was hoping for a happier resolution, and I was happy to see that he truly was the lovable dork I had met all those years ago after all.

I don't know when or if Jared's channel will return to its former glory, but he's done really well putting this whole thing behind him.

What I regret the most, is I joined in on the cancel culture when it had happened. He was my top favorite TH-camr to watch, but my own colors showed as soon as something happened. However the outage of the accusations, I was definitely shocked by and I think that's what really made me join the cancel culture.

Thank you Joon for giving this story attention, a lot of TH-cam commentators made videos about him when he was down but never when he had the receipts.
This is a relatively minor point, but the May 2019 debacle also effectively ended one of my favorite series: Dice Camera Action. Holly and Jared worked on that series with Chris Perkins, Anna Prosser, and Natewantstobattle for years and it was still going strong after over 130 episodes. After all this happened, the series ended immediately. Holly, Anna, and Nate have all been able to appear in other professional D&D series since then, but I really miss that show.
Yeah, I felt so bad for Chris, Anna, Nate, Jared, and Holly when that horrible situation canceled that show. Heidi successfully took down that important part of Jared and Holly’s careers, and that’s just despicable and disgusting. That’s one of the reasons why I’ll never forgive Heidi, she’s a very spiteful woman who will take anyone she hates down to get what she wants. I’ve been around people like Heidi before in toxic friendships/relationships in the past, that’s how I knew Heidi was bad news.

This whole situation is a perfect example of people just showcasing their own rotten cores. Everybody just got real 3rd grader-y with it and started insulting these people's looks. As if every one of them was sittin there at their computer looking like George Clooney. All those people calling them names were rotten on the inside and in my book, that's way worse than looking like an average human being on the outside. They wanted to shame people for cheating and lying (without evidence) as if they were on the right side morally but then also just shit all over them for their looks. Yeah, sounds great. Sounds like you're all just really upright, upstanding citizens.
I couldn't agree more. It was perfect encapsulation of what these people find important - appearances. It was all shallow and transparent; the internet equivalent of trash TV. And like you said, for all the body-shaming, it was a whole lot of people who probably shouldn't be throwing stones themselves (by their own standards). And don't get me started on that same community's silence on those who shared his nudes without permission.
I wasn't super tuned into this situation when it happened but this breakdown is really enlightening. Drama videos can be entertaining but it's important to remember that these are people and just because you hear something on the internet doesn't make it true.
These are the same people who cry wolf and call others racists and sexists for not agreeing with them.
The internet really magnifies peoples' psychological issues and puts them on full display. It's like parts of the human subconscious turned inside out. You can really tell a lot about someone when they get emotionally inflamed about something that has little to no personal relevance to their actual lives, as in, their firsthand experience of existing outside of technological augmentation via the internet.
Thats a lot of words to skip over and whitewash the part where he was still sourcing his fan communities for people to do little roleplay picture trading bullshit with lol

I've been guilty of joining in the mob mentality a few times before. This was the first time I had to stop and look at myself and what I was doing.
I acted like I was above it all but still immediately took the allegations as fact. It's honestly quite scary how I genuinely considered turning on one of my favourite content creators just because the mob told me to.
Granted I didn't get that involved outside of a few remarks (Not at his appearance though. I don't recall going that far.) but it's the way I was swayed so easily that gets to me to this day.
I still slip sometimes but I'm trying to be better now.
Assumptions can tell you a *lot* about human psychology, especially the individual who is expressing or operating based on assumption. Assumptions are the root of so much interpersonal strife and conflict that could be prevented by being a bit more open-minded and not so quick to jump to conclusions. Honestly, seeing through assumption can be a blessing and a curse. The blessing part is obvious from what I already said here, but it can be a curse because assumption is such a common phenomenon that if you try to pick each one apart as they come up and address them immediately, it can drive you "crazy" (metaphorically). I speak from experience here. At some point you have to just let them slide and work around them despite knowing the deeper roots of them, because the person making the assumptions won't take very kindly to your perspective, otherwise they wouldn't be so attached to said assumptions in the first place.
I think this was an important lesson for a lot of people. I've always (as in throughout my late teenage and adult life) enjoyed thinking about the internet at its current stage as being in its "teenage hormonal" phase, as a lot of people are taking lessons from public events (such as this or the Depp vs Heard trial) to continue maturing bit by bit. I'd love to see the internet in its "wisened old sage" stage of maturity haha.
Man this could almost be a modern Milgram experiment. Doing always as the mob says, relieving oneself of all responsibility and just accepting "orders" or in their case evidence as universal truths without thinking for oneself for even a second.
I want to say it's pathetic but maybe it's just human nature. I mean how many times do we need to cancel a new victim only for the angry mob to later realise "theres two sides to every story, oops-". I'm not exempt from it although I haven't publicly defamed a person ever. This cancel -> forgive process is so exhausting and shameful.
We only hope to be better than our past selves.

Hell some of the mainstream makes a living off it with their god awful celebrity magazines. And with popular internet users it's the same story. Agreed. Used to be heavy into ScrewAttack when I first started settling into TH-cam content but Craig has always come off like a conman/shyster type, just the way he talks and carries himself I suppose. That kind of double standard comment isn’t surprising.

It's so disgusting what people can do. How they jump on bandwagons just because it's popular. How hatefully people can be even though they don't know you. I know that Jared isn't a saint, none of us are. But it was just crazy to me the amount of hate the internet conjured, reaped the benefits, and left unapologetically when Jared finally defended himself. Very few internet personalities have endured what he has and for him to still be around and thriving is amazing.
gotta say, his recent final fantasy series has been excellent. his ff6 review is actually a really interesting, emotional analysis of his relationship with the game. cool dude. sucks that people ran with drama and fucked him over.

As much as I hate to bring it up, Vinesauce had a sort of cancelation attempt made against him a couple years ago. In the wake of the whole ProJared debacle, it was really crazy to see the entire community back up Vinny. It's heartening that sometimes we do learn from our mistakes.
the issue I have with that drama is howguys like Mandalore got away scottfree. Was the first who tweeted about it , made a followup to reaffirm his believe in the legitemacy of the document, only to walk back on it after fanbacklash grew more than support. No half-hearted appology will make me support Mandalore ever again. Because fact is: he wouldnt have apologized if vinny's fans werent so vocal in their support. He is a snake and his youtube career is bigger than ever, whereas Vinesauce sometimes still has that lingering smell, where he says something related to the situation but out of context and people bring it up in the comments.

@@rayvenkman2087 in a nutshell, someone collected a few reports of vinny's sex life and most of it seemed super fake, and the parts that seemed like they could be real were honestly just very human regardless. was probably geepm who was just trying to get vinny canceled but ended up canceling himself over the whole incident and retired from streaming.
Oh God... That debacle emotionally DESTROYED Vinny. It was so bad he actually broke down a bit in one of his update videos.

This is why you do not condemn someone the moment an accusation is thrown at them. I know on the other end it’s painful for a victim to step forward and not be heard, but the sad truth is sometimes people do lie. There are two sides to every story. The internet is far far too quick to judge and call for execution without a full picture.

When the accusations came out I posted something on Twitter like, "let's wait and see the evidence first before we get the pitchforks out." Boy was that a mistake... was instantly flooded with a mob sending me nudes of Jared. It is what made me finally quit Twitter. Total cesspool.
Never seen such an interesting flip, from "ugh, yet another big TH-camr cheating" to "holy shit this guy took his time to get ALL the evidence lined up instead of fall prey to internet drama"

Honestly I've never really understood all the harassment about his appearance. He certainly isnt the most attractive person to have ever lived. But he looks like a perfectly normal person.
because people are hypocrites, they use image as an excuse to harass somebody but when it so happens to come out that he is not as bad as the stories wanted to paint him to be, when people only wanted to cancel him, then people start saying he is good looking, or average at best. Its so staby and I really can't respect it. I was one of the few youtubers that made a video defending the dude, got 70% dislikes 30% likes and people disagree with my reasons just to little later on come out to be true all along. Amd then all of a sudden everybody talking bad about his character or his image turn 180, its so weak how people just change minds depending on where the hype train is going, like have little to no personality of their own to think critically at all. Some people should live with themselves longer and face hardships, perhaps that will make them good capable friends one day.
The ugliness of human nature seems to be on full display when people are anonymous. So many studies have been done about it. Internet is essentially Pandora's box for all the positivity and negativity that's possible in the world.
