Found an identical 39 with a new engine and amazingly clean interior but needs new mast and rigging… for $8k. Is it bad that I’m still tempted? Pretty handy and REALLY enjoy working on stuff like this and this video and the rest on the channel have been awesome, thank you!
At $75,000 for this boat, someone, if they were smart, would purchase this boat now if the school was willing. They could be part of the rebuild and know the boat inside and out. That is an absolute steal for all the labor and effort put into its retrofit. With that new Yanmar in it...I mean come on now! The school is nonprofit but, it seems the word needs to get out to marine investors (brokers) that this is available soon. So, will you have it done next month?
David, just since making this video a month ago the costs keep adding up. I'm sure we're going to be beyond or original estimate, but confident it shouldn't go beyond $100K
@@SVCSkallywags That makes sense, even at $100,000 that seems like a steal. Rich Bertrum is working as a Broker, maybe he can evaluate the value according to current prices. Note: I understand a broker with fees is not desirable. All this is within the Skallywags family. I hope to get back to school soon, you guys have gone out of your way for me and I appreciate it.
I love this project. This is amazing. so many other schools are so much less focused on practical projects, skill building, and experiences. What an incredible way for students to learn and also for the school to show how differentiated it is and get the word out!
Already up to $70,000 February 2021.... Looking like we'll end up investing $90,000 - $100,00. Still not bad for so much new equipment!
I really do like our boat - maybe I’ll do some videos about a true Pacific Northwest all season cruiser, love the pilot house!

Thanks, we are enjoying it, and students are gaining lots of new skills!
