I found the single batch this morning at Total Wine, for $39 (It was limit 1 bottle per customer/day, and by the time I got there, there were only 2 bottle left). I've noticed the pattern of Total Wine (at least near me, in suburban Denver) puts out their allocated bourbons on Saturday mornings. Honestly, I find they usually don't live up to the hype (especially the Weller line), but I just tasted the EH Taylor small batch, and I'm super impressed. Well worth the money and even worthy of the hype. Delicious - and there is indeed a butterscotch aftertaste. I wasn't able to place it until you mentioned it.
Picked this up unexpectedly 2 weeks ago at a grocery store for $90 out the door. I have only seen it at astronomical prices in the secondary market. I Looking forward to cracking it. I like the small batch a lot and I can consistently find it for $45. I can’t find the single barrel for less than $100 so I haven’t pulled the trigger. Although I didn’t know it could be up to 12 years. Thanks for the great review!!
Great to see someone able to get the Col EH Taylor Jr. Barrel Proof or even the Single Barrel. These don't appear in my area at all. Thanks for the helpful review on them all. I can't believe that the SB can be had in other areas for an MSRP of $60. By me the 1 store that has the Col Taylor SB sells it for $190 now.

What I've found is the small stores in my area that get the Col EH Taylor SB or Aramanth of the Gods have to take lots of other liquors to get the allocated items. So they pass on the cost to us. That and the insane demand. One guy actually bought the SB at $190 so the store owner said ok I'll price it at $190 and if it sits for months I'll drop it down. Wish it was different with Buffalo Trace.
@@TheReal_DeanD Yeah..the distributors tend to control "some" of the price markups because they force they stores to buy so much inventory before they can get an allocated bottle. At the same time I still dont think its an excuse for the stores to mark it up so high after msrp. They are still getting it at cost and to try and recoup some profit margin off of one or 2 bottles is unfair.

In ohio, OHLQ releases the SiB and BP about twice a yr at most, the SmB(most common in ohio) cycles into stores about every 6 weeks(in exact tandem with eagle rare)...
Yea, i was lucky to score the SiB back in june(with a michters BSR '18 to boot) and the barrel proof early last month i believe iirc...i try to get atleast one small batch every cycle...i use to work and live in columbus but moved up towards akron/canton early last yr...

Whenever I have gotten a sub par bottle of the single barrel, the flavor was much more bitter on the finish. Probably something with the oak or how it aged. Still sweet but a bitter finish. The Small batch Ive never had that issue. Always sweet and delicious.

No.....because different barrels for different bourbons. Meaning EH Taylor uses the mash bill for that brand with barrels for that brand. The exception would be single barrel though it would still have the mash bill.
This is a bit sweeter than the 1920. The 1920 is more cherry and chocolate and pepper. This is more vanilla, pecan and rich caramel. Both are great. The 1910 is very different from both.
Love the Small Batch. But....never in the mid/upper $30s to $40. Seem to always find it at just under $50. Very much worth the price....even near $50. Indiana, Louisville, and Wisconsin.
I dont like it when they label something single barrel and don’t disclose the barrel info. Especially in EHT case being the SinB and Small Batch proofs are the same, how am I suppose to trust they not the same products, just different price? Just something I think about.
Wow. Let it open up a bit. It should get sweeter. Totally understandable though. Some pick up oak very easily. For me I usually get oak on whiskeys that are older.
I haven't seen Barrel Proof on the shelf in years and the other 2 are starting to become unicorn's in my area. It's a damn shame, these are great bourbon for the price but everybody is grabbing them for profits and to hoard.
Tastes like if you baked an apple pie on a Wednesday and let it sit till Monday and your like idk if this is still good but I'm super hungry and I havent gotten to go shopping yet because my paycheck was less than I thought. I hate my job. And my boss is horrible. Mixed with a little cherry.
Great review, no luck getting the BP yet but love the others and buy every chance I get. Sadly here in NC all the highly allocated stuff goes to store employees or local law enforcement. Met the son of local Sheriff the other day and he amazingly had this, 3 pappy 23s , 20 year & 15s along with Weller full proof and all the OWA 107 you could ask for. Wish there was someway BT could track it and make sure stores do a lottery to give everyone a fair shot. Otherwise it goes to aftermarket sellers and I guess the family of law enforcement👎🏻
While I can appreciate law enforcement getting some allocated bottles it does seem unfair that the regular customers don't get any shots at some of it.
40 dollars ha ha I work at a liquor store I would pay around that just above cost most pay more like 90 or 100 at least if you find one i never see Taylor I see Blanton Weller and eagle rare on rare occasions never see Taylor or Handy
You're fooling yourself if you think anyone is out here getting CEHT Small Batch for $30 a bottle. Some flipper went through all my neighborhood shops this week and bought every damn one of them priced from $60-$70. And don't even think about getting anything better than that. One shop - ONE - got in a bottle of Single Barrel and they jacked it up to a price no reasonable person could touch. I frequent at least 20 stores regularly and not one of them can touch anything about Small Batch, But hey - you make your living selling a fantasy to your viewers that they can have this stuff, so carry on.
We just opened a EH Small Batch bottle last night - easily one of the top three bourbons I have ever tasted.
I had a bottle of Small Batch a couple of years ago and it was one of the best bourbons in my memory...

I saw the single barrel 3 times this year. Barrel proof twice as you mentioned. Small Batch is definitely more often.

How did the 2019 EHTBP compare to 2018?
I liked the 2018 a little more. The 2019 is delicious but the 18 had a bit more of that apple cinnamon note I love.
