@@Aegxs oh really? Huh... Which direction did you usually hit from, front to back? I tested it multiple ways but I could never 1 shot chargers with the strafing run 😞
@@twiltzofficialgaming the first time I noticed doing it was hitting it in its side i.e. the charger moving perpendicular to you. A separate time a charger behemoth at diff 3 (I was super cred farming at the time) got caught on a rock and it went down in one strafe, which convinced me that the strafe was capable of it consistently. I believe I did as you demonstrated, hit most of the beginning burst on target to maximize damage. Armor pen wasn’t as high at the time, leading me to think that the AOE hit the underside for the kill.
@@twiltzofficialgaming for more context in those scenarios, the one killed by striking its side was done in an open dune, on a lower elevation than we were. A squad mate was surprised to see that it went down BEFORE his quasar fired. On the second instance I was solo, and the charger was caught on the terrain that lets you know a bug nest was nearby, I think with a dune behind the charger acting as a wall to keep the splash damage on target. @@twiltzofficialgaming just confirmed what I thought the case was, it IS possible to take down a charger in one strafe run. It is possible by allowing the strafe to strike the rear legs and the durable thorax. Hitting the rear half of the charger with things like auto cannons or HMGs is also a clean way of taking one out.
After the buff a lot of people have been doing videos on this but so far no one is mentioning that it has a bit of auto-aim just like Eagle 110 rocket does, its in a smaller area but I am almost 100% sure that in return for the smaller area around the thrown beacon, the aim is active all along the line. Unless you are aware of this fact and take it into consideration it can ofc result in the Eagle Strafe feeling "random" or performing weirdly, throw it straight at a Titan but instead of blasting it in the face and all along its centre spine one or two little Scav bugs that were running at you a little to the side but almost under the Titan "closer to the call in", gets absolutely obliterated and half the initial burst miss before the Eagle Strafe zig-zag to the Titan as the "next" target along the line. I think I am the only one(obviously not THE only one, you get what I mean.) that has noticed this with the Eagle Strafe because afaik there is not a single guide or video featuring this stratagem that mentions it even though it should be fairly important info. Edit just to make it clear: The auto-aim only has a small area to work with, think maybe half the width of the Strafe itself as an additional area around itself that it can aim for. It wont go wildly off its course but it is able to zig-zag a little along/outside the expected line of where you throw it.
@@TheHuffur hmm 🤔 I never noticed this, thanks for sharing! After testing it I was confident it was just a straight line shot from point a to point b, Im happy you brought this up, as this could make a lot of sense as to how sometimes the eagle strike seems to clear out enemies not directly in the line of fire (slightly off centered) I thought it was due to splash damage but you may be onto something here TheHuffur.. thanks again for sharing this hidden tip! When I get back from vacation I'll have to test it out again.
@@twiltzofficialgaming Its a fairly small aim assist but if you go into a low difficulty mission with stun grenades its easy to test by if you throw the beacon maybe 3m to the left or right of the stunned target(like a basic bot infantry), the Strafe will dunk the initial burst right on the bot rather than on the beacon and then follow the 'line' as expected. Harder to test with targets further away since its the beacon placement that makes it easy to see that it aims for the enemy rather than the actual beacon.
I have seen this as well sometimes it shifts side to side like the pilot is aiming but sometimes it dont so no idea whats going on there or how it works.
@@Exania88 Yeah I have also seen varying degrees of effect, on some maps its really 'snappy' and swings left/right very obviously while on others its barely noticeable. No clue if it has something to do with visibility modifiers or as I have seen some people discuss about other stratagems behaving oddly, the map/terrain itself being placed too high or low so the distance the shots are flying is too different... or if its just some other random thing going on with it but its definitely a thing 🤔

@@DMFTexTex I believe the direction of the strafe is determined by which path the stratagem "ball" last came from.. For example: if you throw it northwards, the strafing run with go south to north... If you throw it westwards, the strafing run will go East to West... Now the tricky part is.. If the stratagem ball BOUNCES off surfaces like a wall, the stratagem will take that as the direction input.. Example. 2: You throw the stratagem north ⬆️ and it bounces back off the wall towards you (Now it's going opposite direction ⬇️ (south)) The NEW trajectory will be North to South (opposite the way you threw it) since it bounced off the wall 🧱 redirecting the strafing run... Confusing but I hope you understand from this! Lmk if I need to clarify anything!
a strait line away from u to the ball and the strafe goes from the ball and continues the same line away from u. thats how u aim it. the bouncing dont change directions always away from the original point of throw. if it bounces to the side it will still go away from u just shifted and if it bounces back at u it will still go away from u, just start at a different range then u intended. I have yet to see a bounce make it change direction of the strafe. 303 hours of playtime. maybe if u stand close to a wall and bounce it so the ball lands behind u, I have not done that yet so I dont know what would happen. I would guess it will kill u sense u threw it one direction the bounce just made so it start behind u and go towards u but still the same direction as u threw it.

I’m not sure what conditions I had performed, but I could consistently get charger kills in one run of the strafe run before the change. I haven’t really tested post buff, but I do know that I still adore the strafing run for eagle kits
To my knowledge both chargers were fresh spawns, as one was part of a patrol and the other was an eliminate objective. Let me know if there’s any other information you’d like for me to recall.
@@Aegxs oh wow thank you so much for the detail in regards to environment, difficulty, and location of impact.. Thank you so much Aegxs for taking the time to detail about this, I really appreciate it.
Edit: I am still struggling to replicate this 1 shot.. lmk if you end up doing it again. I'll keep trying.
@@TheHuffur oh thanks for the detailed methods, I'll definitely try it myself when I get back home! Really good find TheHuffur!

How does it determine the direction of the strafe?
@@Exania88 interesting, I could have sworn when I threw the stratagem ball and it bounced weird it changed the trajectory of the strafing run but I could definitely be wrong... Would test it but I'm out of country for a week 😞 when I get back I'll lyk.
@@twiltzofficialgaming I dont know how it works for real under the hood. im just giving my observations so I can also be wrong.

Generally good video, but I gotta say your switching of terminology makes it hard to track the data being provided. You seem to switch between shots, hits, and stafes independently. That alone makes it bad.
@@luk6054 sadly the only armored class enemies that the strafing run can effectively take down are the hulks, and both tank variants, otherwise it's not great at killing tanks by itself you are right 👍. Though I don't know if it's "bad" as it clears objectives like shrieker nests, spore blooms, mortar emplacements and so on so forth, as well as able to destroy turrets such as those on top of factory striders etc etc... idk if judging a stratagem purely on its tank killing capabilities is truly a fair assessment especially now that the spawns have been changed to favor more "mobs".. thanks for commenting though luk6054 I'd love to hear more of you opinion on this matter to see if we can find some common ground! Initially it couldn't damage armored enemies at all. But now, it can destroy plenty of buildings, can destroy bug nests, can clear chaff in a straight line, has 5 call ins (When upgraded), and can damage heavily armored enemies enough to finish them off with other means. Also, it has a low cool down, especially after all the ship modules that decrease the cool down.
