      Why not put in some lighter oil along with fully synthetic oil? They could also put in some oil thinner additives like Lucas Oil in it too. It can't hurt. Cold starting a engine like that a few times won't hurt; but to do it years after years will kill the engine.

      Canada doesnt get as cold as there. A block heater wont unthaw frozen oil. They had to warm the whole car because the oil itself froze solid.

      The electrical cost of keeping that block heater running in such cold Temps would be pretty high, even with a blanket to prevent heat loss.
      Haha, however a piece of metal as a heat shield infront of the bumper wouldn't have cost to much.

      This is how I warm my backhoe when it below zero. The advantage is that the entire machine is warmed up. The differentials, transmission ect. even getting the tires warmed up is a big plus. At -40 the tires have flat spots where they make contact with the ground.

      @@timirdogolon да везде есть такие. Схватят инструмент, а как им работать не знают. Также и с техникой безопасности. У нас каждую зиму чистят крыши от снега и каждый год несколько трупов вот таких работников.

      @@hackn001 in norway -20 -30 is normal some places in the winter, and there are no problem with starting or using the car. O think you start having problems in -40 -50

    When the snow sounds like walking on styrofoam, it’s super cold. Use to live in far northern Maine and snow has much different sound when -40.

      А пушку эту надо было в землю направить под мотором сделав подкоп в снегу . Но пушка сильный жар даёт может провода оплавить . Лучше паялкой минут 30

      Короче эти придурки гофру металлическую на сопло не одели. Труба из фольги, которая для воздуховодов, вытяжек и т.д. Этот получившийся рукав направляется в поддон двигателя. Сам не раз так размораживал, проводка не плавиться. Ни фен, ни паяльник не помогут. Холод лютейший.

      Ну не знаю, в -54 машина на "кипятильнике" за 40 минут до рабочего режима, жаль запрещено нынче провода из окон на постоянку кидать. Проблема больше с ходовой частью. Колёса квадратные и ехать не хотят. Пока их "скругишь", амортизаторы убить можно. Хотя эта зима тёплая выдалась, да и прошлая всего неделька за -40 переваливала. Так что скоро только старожилы будут такие морозы вспоминать.

    I'm a native upstate new yorker. Left all that freakin cold (and moved to the warm south) when i was in my early 20's....and i'm now in my mid 60's. Hands down - the single BEST decision i ever made.

    Here in the northern part of Canada it gets down to around -40C.
    To get my old diesel truck running at this temp I use the block heater, an oil pan heater, a battery heater, a battery trickle charger and a small space heater mounted under the hood. Blanket over the hood too!

      I don't know how you guys live in the cold. I come from a tropical place, and cold is something that I can't do. I live in California now, where the weather suits me. For us out here, if it hits 50 degrees, that is too cold or even 60 without sunlight.

    Haha I find this awesome others can appreciate car blankets! I work in the heavy duty trucking industry, very common to see a huge sleeper tucked under a blanket with multiple heaters! These cold northern climates and diesel motors tend to fight often resulting if frozen air lines and brake lines and cold starts that often infact don’t start at all . Tractor Trailers can be a nightmare in these conditions, huge kudos to these guys for bearing these temperatures I know -50° Celsius personally and it is no joke.

      They are not proffesional. I live in the region neighboring Yakutia and we have common car heating services. Therefore, there is something to compare with, it is not necessary to cover the whole car, you need an aluminum sleeve that is carried out under the bottom of the engine and reduces the temperature of the heater. Well, if these morons got off only with a bumper, you can imagine how expensive it will be to restore the wiring if it is not closed and there will be something to restore. There were cases when cars were burned whole. But my car has no problems with starting at all and in -30 without heaters, just good condition of the engine normal gasoline and charged battery from home

    Senza riscaldare l'olio nel motore durerà gran poco un'auto in quelle condizioni. A quella temperatura l'olio é solido e non lubrifica nulla.
    Serve un riscaldatore di olio, é la prassi per questi ambienti difficili

      Sulle macchine vecchie potevi proprio accenderci un fuoco sotto (il nonno di un mio amico mi raccontò che lo faceva quando guidava il camion). Ora non si può più fare perché ci sono troppe parti in plastica. Al massimo puoi accendere il fuoco di fianco e poi mettere i tizzoni sotto la macchina.

      @@alessandronobile7843 si accendeva il fuoco sotti i camion per scaldare i tubi del gasolio, la paraffina si solidifica col freddo e blocca il flusso del gasolio. Oggi non serve hanno risolto il problema con un additivo nel carburante.

    A small town in Northern Finland got down to -52⁰C and the town had two large cars running all day and night transporting people to their places of work, etc. People just called the cars and they came to get them.
    My record of car driving is +41. Imagine the suspension and the ride at that temperature.

      Mi e bastato vedere lo scorso anno a santa Caterina valfurva, a 2000 mt...con il benzina partita tranquillamente, con una vecchia diesel del 2005 , altro che far scaldare candelette..a lungo andare butti via la macchina in posti freddi come livigno l, Sestriere, Courmayeur e altri posti freddi, dove d inverno scende tranquillamente a -25

    You can just tell how cold it is by the sound the snow makes as you step on it. It's more of a squeak than a crunch. We don't get colder than -40 here in western canada. Couldn't imagine -60! I think we would shut down. Do some people just pay for the gas and keep their car running 24/7 when its that cold? Seems like that would be easier.

      @@fredsasse9973 exactly. We cover the cars with those blankets and set them to start automatically every time it gets to -15\10\5C under the hood. Mine starts about 2-3 times a night when its -50.

      Di solito in climi così gelidi 1: isolante, tanto isolante intorno ai tubi e 2: teleriscaldamento. Cosa usano come combustibile e a quale prezzo va chiesto a chi sta là ma tenendo conto che la Russia è uno dei maggiori produttori mondiali di gas e petrolio non credo abbiano dei così così proibitivi.

      ti dico solo che molti appartamenti in Russia hanno una quota fissa di 5 euro al mese per il riscaldamento che lì significa 25 gradi 24 ore su 24 e spesso con le finestre socchiuse perché fa troppo caldo ma non è possibile regolare il riscaldamento centralizzato per tutto il quartiere. in un video Lorenzo è dentro a un supermercato dove ci sono 23 gradi!!!.

    This is life in interior Alaska too at times. Glad I had a garage. After my first month of snow there I said nope. Lol. Got a house with a garage and bought a specific type of windshield cover so if it snowed while I was at work all I had to do was lift the side and bam, no more snow. So nice.

    Ottimo report, "mettere in moto" fino a -15 può essere difficoltoso ma un auto in forma la spunta , ma a quei livelli tutta la chimica/fisica del motore/auto entra in uno stato troppo distante dalla norma. Temo il gelo ma non nascondo una sorta di curiosità /attrazione nel verificare almeno una volta cosa significhi "vivere" a quelle temperature

      @@natypopel2729 A -45 non posso dirlo, ma a -30 la mia Opel è partita senza grossi problemi. Sicuramente l'Olio deve essere rinnovato prima dell'inverno, meglio se cambiato prima di partire per certi lidi, poi vanno cambiati i filtri (Benzina o diesel; Olio), va integrato liquido per radiatore adatto, e il gasolio deve essere artico, o altrimenti vanno aggiunti additivi (il diesel si addensa a +2). Comunque SE non vedo male nel video mostrano una macchina completamente congelata, SENZA BATTERIA, che hanno smontato, come del resto fanno molti di quelli che, a certe temperature, devono lasciare le macchine fuori. Soprattutto se per più giorni.

      @@alessandrocavallari2016 guarda, se gestita come si deve nn fa niente, parafuel concentrato, olio buono, e possibilmente usare auto a benzina, sotto certe temperature si divide la parafina dal resto del carburante nel diesel, il resto nn cambia, vedo questi che coprono il mezzo, o lo scaldano... Nn capisco il perché, prima di arrivare a scaldare liquidi lo devo lasciar acceso almeno 5 ore quel bruciatorino, l olio nella coppa nn l ha sentito nemmeno quel tiepidore😂..

    I started my vehicle at -46 deg in Canada's Northern territory which was parking for two weeks in open field. I failed, then got a booster in reception of the camp, started my Ford Explorer - it was squalling, coughing, yelling. But, finally, in half an hour I could drive home.
