  • So today started out like any other Sunday except for we got a weather forecast going now wanted to try that see what people thought love the feedback moving past that we went onto a normal day of work as usual and Mammoth ended up helping a bus that lost control and hit a snowbank got stuck had to pull it out with the loader take a look see how the day went ended up with actually quite a bit of snow on the ground by the end of the day.

    owen is right about the hydraulic fluid when the arms are raised the fluid will show low because the cylinders are full. your supposed to check it with the bucket on the ground

      My nickname in High school was "Budget" because I got all "A's" in Recordkeeping so I'm pretty good at minding my P's & Q's.
      With soaring inflation and natural (or unatural) disasters the cost of building materials is Skyrocketing to new heights and is halfway there (to the sky) the way they left it.

    Just flip the cabin and check that mainboom valve is stuck! There might be small amount water in the valve and now it's frozen. Hot air gun might help out, but don't plow too much for wires melt down 🤔

    My bet is either the up solenoid is receiving a power signal all the time for some odd reason or the hydraulic part of the up solenoid is stuck open. A schematic sure would help. And even if it doesn't, it'll make other people think you know what you're doing.

    Be VERY careful checking for hydraulic leaks. Even small hose leaks can throw a lot of fluid and the high pressure leaks are dangerous. Do not use your hands to find the leaks. Use a piece of cardboard etc. My first test for the loader would be the control valve.

    • @goldielocks2621
      @goldielocks2621 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      100%.
      My good friend almost lost his arm when a hose ruptured while he was working with it, the jet of pressurised fluid hit his wrist piercing the skin pumping fluid up through the inside of his arm to the elbow all happening in a flash, he didn't realise this at the time. He didn't seek medical attention right away but continued to work for the rest of the day with his wound constantly weeping a mixture of fluid and blood.
      That day he went home as usual but 24 hrs later it was a different story, he became very ill and was rushed by ambulance to hospital where he immediately was taken to theatre for life saving surgery, spending several days in intensive care. He now has a scar from wrist to elbow and has a much weakened arm but most importantly he is still alive, the force of the fluid coming from the the pin hole size rupture entered his arm poisoning his blood and almost killed him. I wasn't with him that day but on another occasion was with a work mate when a hose ruptured at a joint while the hose still under pressure, was being wrapped back onto the reel on the rear of the lorry when it blew out. The jet of fluid was so fine I couldn't see it but shut everything down only to discover the fine jet of fluid had hit my work mate in one of his eyes and ripped open seven inches of his flesh from the eye to the top of his head, unfortunately he lost his eye. So everyone, listen to the message and take heed, always wear protection when working around hydraulic hoses especially a hose that is under pressure, respect the danger you are facing, it could one day save your life.

    It was still daylight, you gotta figure out that leak. Don't be afraid, if you wait for real mechanics to fix it you're just an operator. Also,on your skid steer, to get an actual fluid level all elements should be retracted.
    If you plan on a future in snow removal in the Sierra, get rid of those skids steers and buy more loaders. I've lived in Truckee since 1985, I wouldn't lie to you.

    That's electrical, foe it to energize the valve body to raise the boom. It's probably a loose wire as for the loader check to see if the hose loosened up. If you can see if it's a pipe fitting or a jic (cone shape, only tighten to snug and turn one flat or you'll crush the cone and leak). But it may be a o ring face seal and you can replace the oring to seal it.

    • @GT-mn3bx
      @GT-mn3bx ปีที่แล้ว

      These newer ones it is 90% electrical. Some are even fly by wire now. Way back it was mostly valves and stuff. Lot simpler.

  • @CCWrestler22
    @CCWrestler22 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    you want to read the hydraulic level with the boom down and bucket rolled back or essentially all cylinders fully contracted. are you sure that machine doesn't have a return to dig feature? Which would automatically make the boom raise.

  • @fitzsfixes
    @fitzsfixes ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Not sure why the boom is going up, but when checking fluid level, definitely have loader arm down and bucket flat on the ground. If you fill it while arm us all the way up, it'll blow out the vent when they come back down.

    I'm no expert, but the signal for 'up' is being called - either a stuck switch or relay, shorted line (unlikely). You should be able to get a logic diagram for the loader and switches to trace the problem. Good luck.
