Linda! Thank you for your language!!! I, like you, am a mother of two boys and wife and we just purchased a new home. My kids and husband appreciate my passions, but they don’t always understand them. Thank you for giving us all the language and example of living a garden inspired life. It’s more than just plants, flowers and candles. All of your listeners love you so much because you are constantly reminding us of how much the act of gardening, taking time to light candles, arranging flowers and searching for inspiration is for our soul. It gives us all such great joy and vibrancy! Thank you, thank you !!!
Yes! I change my bedroom duvets four times a year with the seasons. Winter is red, spring is white, summer is blue, fall is brown. It makes me happy to connect with the seasons.
I have a white bedspread that stays on the bed all year; however, over the years I have collected beautiful old and antique quilts, so I spread at the bottom half of the bed, the quilt that is in season. I have tulips, sailboats, Xmas wreaths, homestead design and more. I use to fold them and pile one on top of the other, but decided to display them on the bed. Makes me happy 😆
I change my bed coverings seasonally too I switch out pillows , the throws and shams , I also switch out pillows and on my sofas but only twice light hues for spring summer and navy blue for fall winter while adding only one or two festive ones for the holidays…it’s the little things like that which make me smile.
One of my goals for this year is to grow enough cut flowers in my garden to have a constant supply of beautiful bouquets in the house all summer long -Cara😄
I’m so glad you’re including ideas for home decor and inspiration in your videos these days. I also thoroughly enjoyed seeing your flower arrangements with tips and tricks…Martha Stewart has nothing on you, girl! Thanks for sharing!
Linda, I love your outfit! The colors are perfect for you. Sorry you had problems with your bath hot water, glad it is fixed. I also had a bathroom window similar to yours. You may want to consider placing a curtain in the curved top part of the window. Without one, trust me, when the light is on the neighbors across the street can see into your bath from their second story. I found a curtain designed to fit into the curved top and it was lovely. Keep up the great job! 😊
Linda, I love your old house but I think this precious cottage has been waiting on you to come home. It’s just “looks” like you in the best possible way 😊
Hi Linda! I put many of my tear sheets in a three ring binder that are in plastic sleeves. They are organized by the garden areas I have or hope to have. Others are in folders. Then of course I still have the “to go through” pile
That’s what I do also. Binders with plastic sleeves. Another tip is to use binders (I liked the Staples better binders) to corral all the manuals, warranties, part lists etc. for all the stuff you buy. You can get three ring pockets that zip close. In those you can put small booklets, receipt or even small parts.
I must admit: I became lazy and don't tear sheets from my magazines any more. I take pictures of my favorite pages, with my phone, and have a 'Home Decor Idea' file. I copy pics from the phone to a thumb drive, and also copy to my big desk computer, so I can see bigger versions. It is amazing how I know when I see an old picture, why I chose it in the first place. Best thing is that I have my ideas with me wherever I go, right on my phone pic file!
@mariacancer fyi..my next door neighbor just finished her treatment for the same. She was diagnosed over a year ago and is doing great. Treatment at M.D. Anderson. She lives alone and is an avid gardener also. You've got this!! Stay positive. She's done fabulous and is cancer free!!
What a sweet gesture - giving the remainder of your children's books to Matt for his son, Jacob. Books are always a great gift and it sounds like his son is enjoying them. Lots of great organizing and decorating suggestions in this video. However, after listening a couple times I couldn't catch whose photography will hang in your bathroom. Always looking forward to the next video.. thank you all, Linda, Stewart and Matt.
Yes I change my bed frequently. I get tired of the same thing! I decorate for all holidays in some way. (Depends on my mood) I enjoy variety. Love your bedding on the yellow side!
At first my heart was broken when you sold your home but now I am delighted and amazed of the blossoming of this home! One never knows what is ahead of us , until we enter the path!❤
I love everything you’re doing but I have one suggestion for your stackable washer and dryer- it might make laundry chores easier when you get older to raise them up at least a foot above floor level. You can have a drawer under them. We recently raised ours and it’s so much easier.
That might be too tall but it depends. I have had a stacked washer/ dryer in the past and if had been raised much it would have been inconvenient for getting clothes in and out of the dryer. I am 5’6” for reference.
Loving the kitchen. It’s really coming together. ❤ I like the cart in its current location a lot better than where it was previously. I understand it takes time though. I am still working on mine. Came back to say that I actually liked the color coordinated books in the office. Normally I hate when people do this. But it works here because all the books are the same subject-gardening.
It’s 4 am and we are having a storm with lightning and a downpour here in central New Jersey. Since I am awake I am catching up with you! Nice tips and inspiration.
Like you, I’m always cutting out pages from magazines showing plants and flower arrangements that inspire me. I put mine in a big three-ring binder and enclose each page in a three-hole glassine divider. That way, the pages don’t tear and I can flip through them quickly to find what I’m looking for. I also use tabbed dividers that are labeled “Flowers”, “Floral Arrangements” “Planting Schemes”, etc. so I can go to the right section when I need to. Love your show!
This is exactly what I do! Three ring binders with page protectors. And I also put a solid color page in each page protector and then put whatever I’m keeping in. Then it keeps the front image separate from the next page! Makes it easier to turn the pages, being more sturdy and also allows you to focus on each individual page without seeing what’s on the next one! And yes labels are the key as well! This feeds my need for origination so much! I even have one for DIY’s, garden, clipped recipes, color palettes, home decor, travel, and so forth. And then those are sub categorized 😂.
I use 3-ring binders for decorating inspiration. I have a separate one for recipes. I've also made 3-ring binders for others when they have moved for garden inspiration. I customized it with a detailed landscape plan for their new property, names and information about each plant, resources where they can buy the plant and hardscape material, and even some estimates of costs with recommendations for installing the landscape in phases if they want to spread out the expense.
Yes Linda I do change out my duvet covers with the seasons. I love to do this!! Your house is lovely! Thanks for the daffodil heads up about the stems!! Lovely flowers, wish we had Trader Joe's up here in Canada!
Linda, I used to file them or put them in sleeves in notebooks. I have downsized- taken photos, saved in digital files and thrown pages away. Love your bulletin boards and recipe stands.
Honestly, I now have a huge Pinterest account with multiple boards. I do still love magazines and cook books, however, I love the simplicity of Pinterest.
I use Pinterest, too. I have categories for every room in a house, and I just recently started a "new house" one. I hope to begin building my own new home on family land in another year or so. I also have three categories that are very "me": Antiques Vintage favorites Gardening I still have magazines as inspiration...and I've started writing down ideas in a spiral notebook for the new house. By the time the house is being built, I hope to know exactly what I want, everywhere.
Thank you for normalizing keeping tear sheets from magazines, Linda. I have many old magazine pages dating back to the 1980s and 1990s (mostly fashion but some interior decorating/design). They're among my most prized possessions and they take me back in history when I look at them, putting me in touch with what I used to love and what I still do -- and how design and color has influenced me over the years. I'm decidedly low-tech -- I keep them in large yellow office envelopes. Not ideal for display but they keep everything corralled. By the way, it's remarkable what you've done with your new house in the time you've been there. It looks beautiful!
I think you are so organized!!! I tear pages out of magazines all the time and have them stacked and in folders I have stacks of magazines...I watch your videos for inspiration! I also love your hair!!!
I have been tearing magazine pages for 40+ years. Years ago I put them in binders, then moved to a file folder method. 4 years ago I scanned everything into my computer and organize by type of inspirations. It is so much easier to access the beautiful things I want to save. I can also pull them up on my phone when I am out shopping. Nowadays I get my magazines digitally so it it easy to save a picture to my files. If I see it in someone else’s book or magazine I just take a picture and move that to the file.
Been sulking around the house this morning after my feelings getting hurt pretty badly…. So i fired this up with my comfort food lunch (mashed potatoes and gravy) and this JUST LIFTED ME right out of my funk! I started repotting houseplants that will soon go out to the decks and porches. And I cut some Quince and magnolia from the garden to force inside. Thank you Linda for the community you bring to life here.❤ Can’t wait for the companion journal coming! 🎉QOTD: I decorate a simple composition notebook and paste my magazine tear sheets into them using a glue stick. I can index it in front, and I can make notes next to the tear sheets about what is speaking to me, or how and where I should consider this in my own home. It’s cheap, I can add a pocket by folding down a corner to stash things. I have one for indoors, one for outdoors, and one for food.
Tearsheets...oh yes from the last 25 years! I've organized them in clear plastic sheets and organized in notebooks. I love to peruse them periodically! Love your bookshelves Linda!!
Love the daffodils in the log vase. So beautiful! You look fabulous in that outfit today. I seeded some poppies, larkspur etc this winter on the snow. Yesterday, when planting some bareroots, I was wondering about some of the seedlings...is that a weed or a seedling I want? We will see. Great to see organization tips.
I change my bed look spring/summer - PB chambray stripe in cotton linen blend, fall/winter - Marimekko floral in dark colors from C&B, and holiday for Christmas (Nov/Dec) - cottage quilt style from QVC. Really love the daffodil arrangement - looks like you came upon it in the Wood! I bought that same console table in your bath and it's stunning for those of you thinking of getting it. So nice and at a good price, too. Very functional. I also have a writing desk on one side of my bed - love the look and I use it as my makeup table. Things looking so nice in your new home...
So glad you brought up the tear-out sheets Linda. I have been doing that for years. I had them collected in an obsolete college binder within clear sheet protectors. It was a good way to repurpose those school items I no longer needed too. I also have a cork board to put my most recent projects to keep them fresh in my mind and to remember to keep at it. I also put all my post cards, greeting cards and mementos in a scrap book for safe keeping. BTW Linda! I love the idea of a Friday Flower Foray! It would be a treat to see you do a segment on fresh flower shopping or foraging with Trips to Trader Joe's. 🌦🌦🌱🌱🌿🌿🪴
Hi Linda Can't wait to see the laundry room finished. The flower arranging tips were very useful, thank you. I'm sure your 5 year garden diary will be a sell out🌸💞
Hi Linda and Stewart. I really enjoy your videos. As for inspiration and tear sheets, I have a large basket under an end table with old Country Living Gardener magazines. Tear sheets are in sheet protectors and stored in a three ring binder.
I don't do tear sheets, I can't bear to ruin a magazine, so I keep the whole magazines, keep hundreds on hand at any time. I once put 300 out to trash last day of moving and couldn't stand it later, so I went to yard sales and bought a lot of them back. They are my addiction.
I have so many too! I somehow lost or misplaced 14 random issues of “Cottage Living” I bought them all back on eBay and at thrift stores. I couldn’t stand to not have the entire set.
I love to change out my look to my bedroom For the seasons I have 4 different comforters and Same pillows but they seem to be able to work for all. It just gives everything a new look.
I love collecting pictures out of magazines for inspiration. I have purchased decorative 3-ring binders from Walmart and put my pictures in clear sleeves and put it my binders. I have separate binders for decorating, gardening, health, recipes, aging, etc. I enjoy looking through them when needing an idea.
Yes! I always change our bedding out for the seasons. I have spring/summer duvet and sheets and I have a heavier winter duvet and fleece sheets to keep cozy all winter.
So many great ideas, from flower arranging to organizing to lifestyle tips. Glad you got your hot water situation corrected. Plumbers are worth their weight in gold!
Tearsheets. Yes, I too collect for several years now and I keep them in cardboard boxes. Recently started file folders to file them by category and I also have notebooks with mylar covers for tearsheets. I refer to them regularly and surprisingly, I don't get rid of many from years past, so I guess my tastes haven't changed that much. But, I continue to be inspired. Thanks, Linda.
Linda consider and plan for extra space in case you ever have to replace the washer and dryer. We ran into that when we custom built our cabinets to fit our appliances only to have to buy new ones and they would not fit into the space. Just a thought
Hill Cottage is looking so lived in and loved. Can't wait to see the new sofa and dining area, not to mention the front garden progress. I'm in Australia so don't need extra covers, but I did just update my bedroom doona cover and pillows. It's spring all year round 😁👍🏼❤️❤️
I love the new birch bark planters that you are exhibiting. So nice to have fresh flowers in your house every week. Yes, I change out my bedding seasonally. Creamy white for late spring and summer. A beautiful Pottery Barn duvet cover with pillow shams made of fall colors like rust, browns a moss green, and a splash of an yellow, gold color. This set is reversible. For winter, a white bass nonreversible duvet print with mistletoe, various types of evergreens leaves and pinecones.
I use the soft plastic three ring binders with sheet protectors and dividers. Of course there is a section for patios, porches, boundary beds and floating beds in the yard. A section for storage ideas for outside. Anything that speaks to me or inspires goes in a fantasy section. I even have a binder for kitchen recipes, etc. And a home decor binder.
I slide my tear sheets in plastic page protectors and store them in a 3 ring binder. I have magazine articles/pictures that I collected 20 years back, and I still enjoy looking at them. I have binders with garden ideas and for recipes. I will retire in 1 year, and I plan to cook or bake those that I haven't done yet to decide which are keepers.
Speaking of inspiration, I got some and am making a floral arrangement in a tree stump for a table on a bridal shower. I’m a big magazine tare person and keep mine in folders and placed in a living room basket. Love how you Cottage on the hill is coming along❤️
I still really love magazines too and tear out pictures of landscapes or garden ideas. I organize my pictures in a binder with dividers (labeled containers gardening, formal gardens, cottage gardens, perennials, etc. I store the pictures in sheet protectors. I can discard easily too when I change my mind about something! Binder is kept I also LOVE watching you do a flower arrangement each week- I don't miss any of your videos- so inspiring Linda!
Hi linda. Loving how the cottage is progressing. Firstly I screenshot photos that inspire me and secondly I just changed out my linens-- comforter , shams, and lighter blanket/throw. Looking forward to southern living plants!!!
Hi Linda! Everything is looking great and your home really has a cozy and comfortable vibe. Can you tell me where you found those battery operated little lamps that you tapped the top of? Thank you. Looking forward to more garden updates and reveals! 😃👋🇨🇦
I had a career as an Interior Designer and had so many pages, magazines and books. I now also take photos and put them in a file on my computer. Keep the old pages in a box (just in case). Everything is looking wonderful. Congrats.
Your log flower vase is perfect. Several years ago I went through all my old Garden Magazines and removed the pages that inspired me. Then I purchased clear notebook sleeves and placed the pages in a binder. Several times a year I revisit the binder and find projects for the next season.
Years ago, I took all my magazines, and I'm talking a lot, and I tore out every idea that I loved, then I put them in those plastic sleeves and into a loose leaf binder! It was my Bible for decorating for years!!
I always like to see what you’re doing on the inside of your home. I also have those lamps you have in different parts of your home that are chargeable and love them. Mine are in my master bath. Hope you have a great day and sending hugs, prayers, and kindness.❤❤❤
I listened twice to you explaining the art gallery on the wall in your bathroom and never did catch the name of the artist. Did I miss the name? My daffodils are just beginning to bloom here in Kansas, I love the way your new cottage is coming along-both indoors and outdoors.
Yes, I have changed my navy and white top quilt to a solid white one. And the navy and white one is at the foot of my bed. Small change but freshens the room. Would love to see more of the painting above your dresser! It looks gorgeous with your colors in your room.
I have them in folders. But threw everything out just recently as I was overwhelmed by the amount. Now I will only have one folder 😎 Your flower arrangement is way nicer and insperational than the photo! That’s why I loove looking at your videos Linda! You take a photo as insperation and make it a 100 times better 😘
I bought a 5 year journal after I saw you using yours. Today hubs and I had a discussion about when the Martins (migratory birds) arrived last year. I was able to answer our question because I noted it in my journal last year.
Hi Linda I did not know daffodils had toxins that kill other cut flowers. 😧I love the wood vase. You look terrific. I do still cut things out and keep them in folders near my computer. But sometimes I keep Magazine or newspaper cuttings in cabinets that are relevant. So in my dining room I keep magazine cuttings of favorite flower arrangements which I bring to my florist if I want a certain look. So glad you can enjoy your free standing tub. It’s a beautiful tub. Sydney was talking about your tulips today! ❤️🤗🥰7 a New York
I put my tear sheets in clear sheet protectors inside a 3 ring binder. You can then use 3-hole tabbed dividers to organize sheets by category, etc., if you want to organize further
I change bedroom bedding and curtains with winter/summer. Have thought about putting slipcovers on living room furniture for lighter look for summer, but haven’t pulled the trigger on that one yet.
I put my tear sheets in a protective sheet and then I file it in a large binder. In the binder these sheets are then filed in their respective tab ie: Easter, backyard ideas etc.
I love your idea of a gallery wall in the bathroom. Who is the “her” whose photos you are talking about? Did I miss the name of the photographer you were speaking of?
Hi Linda and thanks for the video. Not sure you will read a comment from a few days ago but one questions: did I miss the link for how to make a hollow log? You stated you would show the link are the end of the video. Thanks!
I love your office...so inspirational. I too would like to know how everyone organizes their tear offs, I've tried different ideas but they never seem to work.
Hi Linda! It's time for me to start remodeling; I'm wondering what are the dimensions of your bathroom? It is similar to what I'm invisioning for my own. Thanks in advance!
The cottage is looking wonderful. I love your bedding! I would like to know where you got the battery lamps. It looks great in your kitchen as well. I like to change the curtains in my living room with a lighter weight for summer. I appreciate your approach to design inside and outside of the cottage.
Linda! Thank you for your language!!! I, like you, am a mother of two boys and wife and we just purchased a new home. I listened for the name of the photographer for the addition to the bathroom. I don’t think it was mentioned.
I also listened a few times and only heard “her gorgeous photographs”…maybe a daughter-in-law, sister or friend?
So glad you're looking so happy Linda. Loved everything in this video.
Have a great birthday Stewart. I know you deserve the best. Happy Birthday and many many more !

Love the olive green and tans looks great on you and in your house! Gorgeous as always!!! 🌸🌺🤍🖤💚🪴🌿🌳🍀🍀🍀
Totally agree -- tan and olive green (and Linda's gold jewelry) look beautiful on her!
Linda , I don’t think you mentioned the photographer name that you want to hang photos of in your bathroom. Or am just not hearing it?
Love love your beautiful style. Thanks 👍🥰🙏
So impressed with Linda's ability to plan and implement her ideas so effectively!
Good stories Linda. Good night all😊

Hi Linda
Can't wait to see the laundry room finished. The flower arranging tips were very useful, thank you. I'm sure your 5 year garden diary will be a sell out🌸💞
I too love the "jooshing" part of decorating, it's just not complete without it.❤ Everything is Lovely 🌹
Absolutely beautiful Linda. Loving how everything is coming together inside the cottage. 😊🇨🇦
Stewart: “So Meta”!! 🤣🤣🤣
That bathroom screams relax and restore. Beautifully done.
I love to change out my look to my bedroom For the seasons I have 4 different comforters and Same pillows but they seem to be able to work for all. It just gives everything a new look.
Great plumbing tip! Always good to know these things.
The way you explain what you do helps so much. Thank you for sharing your talent.
So many great ideas, from flower arranging to organizing to lifestyle tips. Glad you got your hot water situation corrected. Plumbers are worth their weight in gold!
Beautiful, IKEA has some bookcases with glass doors, I’m not the best duster❤ love both;)
Yes Linda! I change out my bed linens with each of the 4 seasons. I find it to be a real pick me up enjoyment❤️
Linda consider and plan for extra space in case you ever have to replace the washer and dryer. We ran into that when we custom built our cabinets to fit our appliances only to have to buy new ones and they would not fit into the space. Just a thought
Absolutely love the way you arranged your bookcase... the little floral surprises and bird nest! The floral design ala natural... the moss ❣😊
I put all my magazine tear ours in 3 ring binders with each page it’s own plastic sleeve. Organized by topic.. garden, kitchen, etc
Love all the updates. I too need a chair for my bathroom.
I change some curtains, most throw pillows, and most recently livingroom slipcovers
I put my tear sheets in a binder. Keeps all of them neat and tidy and i know where they are when i want to look at them.
Oh how I look forward to your TH-cam’s.
I’m using so many of your ideas. I even purchased a Billy bookcase. Keep the wonderful information coming.
I slide my tear sheets in plastic page protectors and store them in a 3 ring binder. I have magazine articles/pictures that I collected 20 years back, and I still enjoy looking at them. I have binders with garden ideas
and for recipes. I will retire in 1 year, and I plan to cook or bake those that I haven't done yet to decide which are keepers.
I have a binder with tear sheets, all white and blue decor/style ❤❤and gardening sections; I always go back to it❤
Can you drop a link for how to hollow the tree stump?
Yay! Glad you’re getting to relax a bit in that gorgeous tub!
Thank you Linda. Enjoyed seeing how your new cottage is becoming your new home!
Congrats.
Your home is wonderful. Now everyone knows all about the bl inside
Your log flower vase is perfect. Several years ago I went through all my old Garden Magazines and removed the pages that inspired me. Then I purchased clear notebook sleeves and placed the pages in a binder. Several times a year I revisit the binder and find projects for the next season.
Oh Linda! I can’t wait to buy your Garden Journal! Where can we find it? Love, Mary ❤️🤗❤️
Years ago, I took all my magazines, and I'm talking a lot, and I tore out every idea that I loved, then I put them in those plastic sleeves and into a loose leaf binder! It was my Bible for decorating for years!!
It's all coming together nicely. Enjoyed the tour and ideas.
I played that part twice also, no name.
Me too! Who is SHE?!
Ditto! Would love to know " her" name.
Just lovely, Linda! I love the flower arrangements in the stumps so creative and beautiful. ❤
Yes, I have changed my navy and white top quilt to a solid white one. And the navy and white one is at the foot of my bed. Small change but freshens the room. Would love to see more of the painting above your dresser! It looks gorgeous with your colors in your room.
I never change the bedroom covers, nor much of any other decor except the kitchen/dining table cloths. I have favorites for summertime.
Yes, I do change out most of my textiles. Ie: cushion covers, curtains, bedding etc. 🤗
Hi Linda
I did not know daffodils had toxins that kill other cut flowers. 😧I love the wood vase. You look terrific. I do still cut things out and keep them in folders near my computer. But sometimes I keep
Magazine or newspaper cuttings in cabinets that are relevant.
Love love the flower arrangements
Thanks!
Love your outfit today (including your unique earrings) - you & your hubs need to go out tonight ! :)
Linda i love your channel and have noticed, you are the only creative you tuber, that doesn't have a pet (dog).
