A FLORIDA-BASED artist has discovered a powerful form of self-expression by using his own face as a canvas. Elle, a 22-year-old who identifies as non-binary, has gained a massive following on social media through sharing his striking, avant-garde makeup looks. Elle told Truly: “My expression makes me feel comfortable - it makes me feel free and understood.” Elle hopes that by sharing his unique and bold looks on platforms such as Instagram, he’ll inspire others to explore their own creative journey.

All of these people may be sweet and very unique, but they also are using the makeup, clothing and pronouns to change themselves into something other than what they really are. The makeup is what I would consider to be a part of artistic expression, however this person's discomfort in their female body and willingness to change their feminine appearance through this art is what puts me off. You also don't have to use male pronouns to make yourself more masculine as if there's someting wrong with femininity. You can be a masculine woman and exude this to others without having to label it, make others label you, or change your appearance. It's all just very uncanny to me tbh.

There's plenty of trans women and men who can't afford surgery but can legally have their genders changed on their IDs depending on their state they do not have to have gender reassignment surgery. In Connecticut for example you don't have to have any medical documentation to change genders legally.

I don't follow this person. I'm assuming since they mentioned they were non binary that's why the boyfriend called them he and people in the comments are referring to them as both he and she. I thought the new polite thing to address people who were non binary or indetified as being gender fluid was to use they and them pronouns. Am I wrong? I'm old but very open minded. I don't want to inadvertently insult anyone or appear to be stupid or say the wrong thing, I'm bringing this up for that reason nothing more, nothing less.
I was wondering the same, luckily it states it in the description of the video, they go by “he/him”.
I was just having this conversation with my son last week…you're not always going to know the correct pronouns for everyone, especially with the movement these days, I think as long as each person is respectful, like you're being, that is what matters.
I heard a non binary person say it in a way that I found really intriguing… it's ok if someone isn't sure if they are he/she/they, that means they are seeing the person, the human first & not hung up on the gender and the stereotypes that come along with that.
A lot of non-binary people do go by they/them pronouns. However, some may prefer she/her or he/him, any combination, or have no preference. The best thing to do is to offer your pronouns and kindly ask for theirs. If you don't know someone's pronouns you can use they/them until you figure it out.

Because Elle identifies as nonbinary and therefore may be comfortable with other pronouns than the ones assigned to them at birth. Elle was glowing from the attention and validation from their partner so obviously they are okay with it.

They can't afford to transition right now and makeup helps them/him feel more himself and comfortable. But at the end they continuously said 'he/him' pronouns so that's how he'd like to be referred to. Just because someone has female parts doesn't mean they identify that way. These are odd and confusing times I know but we need to respect peoples identities, especially a trans POC.

Coming from a wealth of personal experience, comments like yours actively worsen the gender dysphoria and mental health of ppl they’re directed towards. It’s such a shame people type before thinking.

I used to believe the things you did but have since opened my mind to the complexities of identity. gender diverse people have existed since the dawn of humanity, well at least since we developed an understanding of gender. No one is denying biology, that’s a misunderstanding that you have. And actually wide social acceptance and minimisation of gender dysphoria (like using certain surgeries) have been proven to be the most successful treatments for trans people to live happy, healthy and fulfilling lives. That's really brave of her. Most women wouldn't want to look so needy of attention putting so much time and energy into making sure people look at her 24/7 but she instead embraced it and made it her whole personality as an individual, that's very cool. She reduced herself to her physical appearance, very inspirational, more women should prioritize how the look as their main source of identy.

@Life with pets That's cool. I have 2 adopted cats. One cat had been very feral, she was 2 to 5 years when captured deep in the woods by a rescue. She was so wild and so aggressive that they said she couldn't even be in their barn cat program. They were going to euthanize her. A volunteer at the rescue knew I was looking for a brown tabby because the one I had been approved to adopt wound up staying in her foster home after the man fostering her cried when I went to get her. He'd bottle raises her from a kitten, I couldn't take her if he wanted her, he adopted her and her sister. The rescue was angry about the failed foster but 2 cats got a great home. I wasn't upset,, that outcome seemed great for that cat.. Anyway the volunteer called because this mean feral wild cat was a brown tabby and she thought I might adopt her. That woman was very nice to want to save the life of a cat.. I knew the cat was not habituated to people at all,, probably so aggressive because it was really fearful.. I went to see the cat, she walked across my lap on our first meeting, didn'thiss at me, I knew we'd be OK. She's a wild, bossy, fiesty cat. She hisses at me daily now, lol, but she's my best friend I love her dearly. She's always right with me, my shadow, she sleeps on me, cuddles me. Purrs when I pet her. I can still only touch her on her face, head and down her back along her spine or she will hiss and strike at me. When I first got her in 2012 her skin would literally roll in this wave like motion if I touched her anywhere but the top of her head. Anyway animals are great. I read a lot about animal behavior. I studied how to act around my cats in order not to be rude to them before I got them. I learned to read their often subtle physical forms of communkcation. I try to treat them like cats not people. I think we get along really well. Thank you for being a vet and for having so many animals.
