- Started up my lawn tractor today and it wouldn't move. A look underneath and I found that the belt had slipped off of the idler pulley. Replaced the pulley and the belt. Belt is 1/2" X 82. I got the belt and the pulley from ebay. (Flat Idler Pulley 179114, 532179114)

PERFECT! It was EXACTLY what I needed to get my DYT4000 running right!
Happy to help. Thanks for watching!
Purchased this to replace a guide pulley th-cam.com/users/postUgkxO9seYZjlnuP5UvMkb7osQW3WxPVeSnPk on our John Deere x304 snowblower. As I stated in the title, it is just about perfect. The stock pulley has a spacer at the bottom. I used four washers to emulate said spacer, and it works perfectly now. Great product, and great price especially if compared to typical JD prices.
Thank you! I didn’t know that nut was hiding up there. I cranked on that bolt forever before I got desperate and found your video.
Thanks for watching! Hope you got everything working again!
Nicely presented! Had to adjust the belt- keeper on my 10HP Craftsman to keep the belt from separating from the pulley!
Thanks for watching!
I have the dlt 3000 with the els725 b&s vtwin, but gear drive. I cant find a OEM part number for the fuel filter and trying to decide if I need a screen or paper filter for it. Also trying to figure out why it jerks forward when releasing the clutch in gear, or a suitable bagger option for it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Nice fix. Many thanks for that video.
Thanks for watching!
I'm thinking mines the 5000 because it's got the 14 inch rear tires on it but the hood says 4000 and mine has the Kohler pro 27hp engine thinking the hood has been replaced
Thank you so much for the video! I could NOT figure out how to get that pulley off!! I will just add this repair to my "Real Women Skills" can-do list! 😉
Very happy to help! Thank you for watching! And keep adding to that list, as I keep adding to mine as well!
Great ! had the same problem and I could not find the top nut, hate it when that happens....Great video
Happy to help! Thanks for watching.
Thank you for the video, this helps alot
Thank you for watching!
What size belt does the drive take and where did you get those pullies
Belt is 1/2" X 82. I got the belt and the pulley from ebay. (Flat Idler Pulley 179114, 532179114) Thanks for watching.
You say this is an 82 inch belt but my 42 inch deck says replacement belt is 96 inches. Do you have a smaller deck on your mower?
The belt that I replaced is the DRIVE belt. You are looking at the DECK belt. Two different belts.
Is that belt keeper supposed to be deflecting the straight run of the belt on the return? Seems like unnecessary friction.
Looks like it rubs a bit. Probably could be bent out of the way.
Nice Vid!
Thanks!
When my husband removed the old belt, which was quite worn, it measured 94.5 inches. However, a new one of the same size was to small. I can't see how an 82 in could possibly fit! Are you sure it is an 1/2" X 82" belt.?
My model number called for an 82" belt. Look on the underside of the hood. There is often a decal with pertinent data for that tractor. Your tractor may have a different setup. For example, I own two DLT3000 tractors from the same year - however, they have different engines.
Have you had any problems with the transaxle locked up?
Not yet
How do you know the belt guiders are in the right position?
They have to be close enough to keep the belt in place, but not close enough to touch the pulley. It's not important to be exact. Thanks for watching.
Serious question from the looks of it the belt was never inside the belt keepers at the beginning of the video could that have just been the problem from the get-go asking because I have the same problem going on with my tractor now
The belt was correctly routed before and after. If you look at the gap between the pulley and the belt keeper in the beginning and then the end, you will see the difference. The pulley and belt were just worn out. Thanks for watching.
@@RealManSkills so the belt dose not og inside the u shape of the keeper's?
@@crea8ivjr I have since found out that you can bend the keeper to make the gap smaller. But no, the belt does not go into the U shaped part of the keeper.
@@RealManSkills thank you
Those belt keepers in the beginning were not bent. And from the looks of it the belt was never properly routed through the the belt keeper. Theme keepers is just there to be sitting on the outside and never even touching the belt. The keepers are to hold the slack belt up level with the pulley so it can be rewrapped around he pulley. At the end the belt still appeared not to be properly routed through the pulley. All my mowers have the belt threaded through the “U” shaped configurations.
That's pretty much the same as an lt1000. I'm so pissed that it has plastic pulleys. The bearing locked up and the belt ate through the plastic. I'm replacing both of the ideler pulleys with steel ones.
Good idea! Thanks for watching.
@@RealManSkills tractor supply has the same size pulleys only they're made of steel. You're welcome.
Good one⚡️🤠
Thank you
Please tell me what kind of jack that you used to raise the mower?
It's the Cub Cadet 550 from Tractor Supply. It's made by Mojack. Thanks for watching.
@@RealManSkills Thanks! SUBSRCIBED!
What kind of Mower lift is it ? Model # and Brand. Job well done. Thanks
The LIFT is a Cub Cadet HTL550. I bought it from my local Tractor Supply Co. Thanks for watching.
@@RealManSkills the video shows a dlt 3000 craftsmen....I'm confused
My bad it says lift...
@@dvwildlife2625 You got it.
Is the drive belt the same belt on the 5000 as this mower if any one knows
Find the model number under the seat. Use that number to identify any parts from www.partstree.com. Thanks for watching.
Wow!what a relief!this is the exact same problem my tractor has. I wonder if you could return message and include the part numbers for that keeper and spacer please, i would greatly appreciate it. Thnx beau. Btw...your video is excellent and you are really a great host!
Belt is 1/2" X 82. I got the belt and the pulley from ebay. (Flat Idler Pulley 179114, 532179114). I didn't replace the belt keeper but if you need it, it is "Lawn Tractor Belt Keeper 175556". Thanks for watching.
@@RealManSkills thnx very much for that info...im sure getting tired of crawling under that tractor to remount that damn belt (haha)
@@RealManSkills This video was so good I HAD to Subscribe! Thanks for your sharing your skills with us TH-camrs!

If you do a simple internet search, there are several places to buy them. They are made by Mojack. Thanks for watching.
Why don’t I have the same belt keeper ….
Is this a hydro or a manual
This one is hydrostatic. Thanks for watching.
Thanks, mine is the same, so same fix.
Thanks for watching!
@@RealManSkills only difference was the 1/2 bolt on top, on mine, did not need holding. So just spun the bottom nut off, and it all comes off. I did have to hand hold the top, till tight, when putting new pulley on, but no wrench needed.
@@sammoore9689 Good to go!
what is the belt number,
Belt is 1/2" X 82. I got the belt and the pulley from ebay. (Flat Idler Pulley 179114, 532179114) Thanks for watching.
Whoa! Hey, what is that wheel stand lift kit you're using to lift your mower off the ground?! That is exactly what I need! Lemeno, boss!

@@RealManSkills Outstanding! Thanks so much. Have a good Easter!
Thank you! @@thepirate5955
Where did you get that lift for your mower
I got that from Tractor Supply Co.
The old owner probably bent the belt keepers to put a belt on it!
That is a possibility. Thanks for watching!
WHY NOT REPLACE BOTH IDLERS
Go right ahead.
