That's actually really sad if you think about it, your character was not a real person from the surface, and the fact that you don't have a true family is sad, but in the end you gave those girls a chance to have a better life that you had. That was your one true purpose in life. And you succeeded
And like Atlas (Fontaine) said, he never really had a real family to begin with. He saved those girls, gave them a chance to live, and in return he got a found family of his own.
"I had you built! Sent you topside! I called you back, showed you what you was, what you was capable of! Even that life you thought you had, I dreamt up, and had it tattooed, inside your head! IF YOU CAN'T CALL THAT FAMILY, THEN I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS!!!" I don't know why, but I ADORE that quote XD
If you finish the game by saving all the Little Sisters it becomes so damn heartwarming and cathartic, because despite Jack finding out that his past and his family were both lies, and that he was used as a puppet whilst also being sent to his death at the bottom of the sea, he still chooses to do what’s right by freeing the Sisters and killing their shared puppet master. Whilst his may have no meaning, he crafts his own path forward.
Having read the novel, playing the game feels like picking up right where it all ended off. You can imagine how emotional I became the first time I came across Bill McDonough on the wall.
when you factor in Buriel at Sea from Infinite, you realize that Atlas is one hell of an actor. we know he's a unhinged lunatic, but he plays Jack for a fiddle. even without the "Would You Kindly" phrase, he probably would've tricked Jack just by his acting chops alone.
I give you all the credit in the world for even getting this game (remastered version) working and getting through it all. Some people had crashes that erased settings AND game saves.
Well yeah, except for the roaming psychopaths, genetically manipulated monsters, greedy capitalists, backstabbing opportunists, and like zero law enforcement. Besides all that, it's a good city.

Just out of curiosity, did you find the remaster worth it? I mean, a lot of reviews are saying that the original is better; not graphically for certain, that view has more to do with bugs and glitches...
I think I know why it's called Bioshock! You get shocked when it tells you that Jack is actually 4 years old and smoking! Oh right well uh I meant sold as a fetus and biogenically grown, is dat a word?
So, here are my thoughts.... Pros: -The graphics of the Remastered Version takes the intricate and well drawn design and makes it pop out at you, the scene looks like the technical marvel it is while not losing even a _bit_ of the 1960s utopia feel it still held. -The dialogue, while difficult to follow, is masterfully produced by the VA's and stays true to how people really talked back then. -The gameplay has aged really well. -Considering the lore gets expanded on later in the series, enough is explained to keep the experience interesting without to much exposition. -The characters, even with what little physical interaction you have with them, feel unique and very *_human_* in their dialogue and the role they play in making Rapture a hell on Earth. -Atlas is very supportive to a set limit that makes sense considering he's a stranger, but his friendliness doesn't feel earned for some reason... -Tenenbaum is very motherly and her accent helps set her apart from everyone else very well. -Andrew Ryan does feel like man out of his time, the way he lost his mind makes it easy to see how he never really had one, but his success, pocket, attire, speech, and way he talks about people makes him a noteworthy villain in all of gaming history. -Cohen is the tragic-artist troupe personified, and it works. -Fontaine really is the villain that came out of nowhere! He knows what he's doing and considers himself untouchable, even when he loses all his cards, and you really believe he's conned people for decades. -The enemies, from the one-shot Splicers to the Big Daddies make the travel through Rapture really feel like your walking through a _nightmare,_ the worst humanity has to offer. -Supporting members of Rapture's cast like Suchong and Langford brings the segments and roles they play to full circle, so you never have to guess or theorize about how this place your in came to be. -The plot structure and how Jack gets through it all is magically structured. Every back-slap and twist just works. Cons: -There is _way_ to much uncertainty in the second half to where Jack is going to go, it's just a mind-fuck all the way to the end. You don't know who to really trust because from what you know, everyone around you is a monster. -Combat is even more uncertain with no enemy health bars. -The only good person is the one your playing, Tenenbaum doesn't count, but at least she's a remorseful woman. -The ending was, I counted, ONE MINUTE and ONE SECOND long! Considering the game's depth (pun intended), and overall length building up to it, it doesn't even _TRY_ to cover up any lose ends at ALL! Doesn't add anything to the story besides a neat and tidy ending, which it could have done if it was trying to teach something, but the ending just ends your hard-ass journey through hell for the Little Sisters on a positive and humane note. Which is unsatisfying as fuck. -We never get to see Jack's face, not even once. Overall, this game is a masterpiece of his time and takes how most see games in a separate direction from just 'hit a button until something happens'. 8.5/10 for me!

Me: (coughs awkwardly)
Humph, at least the Big Daddys in B2 are a little easier to take down
1 second from 2 hours, now my inner OCD is mad.
So, here are my thoughts....
Pros:
-The graphics of the Remastered Version takes the intricate and well drawn design and makes it pop out at you, the scene looks like the technical marvel it is while not losing even a _bit_ of the 1960s utopia feel it still held.
Cons:
-There is _way_ to much uncertainty in the second half to where Jack is going to go, it's just a mind-fuck all the way to the end.
