    You are my hero! Your dim sum videos have made it much easier for me to go vegan. Without vegan Asian food, I would not be able to survive, especially dim sum! Thank you!! BTW, if you published a book on vegan dim sum series it would already be in my cart.

    Just made this!! Absolutely amazing!! Totally reminded me of the 'Vegan Duck' that you can get in upscale deli's in New York City ( stuffed with mushrooms in one large rolls/meatloaf in a mild delicious liquid) or what you get in Vegetarian restaurants like VP1 on Waverly Place (served with hoisin, cucumber strips, scallion & small flour tortillas)
    I'm eating half for dinner and the other half I froze it (just to see how it freezes)
    You're totally right on the oil though - use MINIMAL oil! I slightly overdid the oil in the pan to fry the rolls. Next time I'll literally measure out less than a tsp so I don't overpour.

      East Meets Kitchen I tried it because only the brave will earn a fortune,😋just kidding,it worked fine, it's important to use a rather dry filling in order to avoid that bubbles on the surface of the rice wrapper burst. love your recipes and your dedication 😍 keep going

    Do you think I can roll them the night before a party and fry them the morning of the party? Would it be too soggy? I am using 3 different kind of mushrooms with medium firm tofu. 🤔 The ingredients are cooked beforehand. By the way, I never thought of rolling them in triangles... always thought I had to cut them up. 👍

    You mentioned "5-Spice Tofu". That would be a great taste. Could I add (Chinese) 5 Spice to the vegetable/tofu mix or should I stir fry the tofu separately with 5 Spice before adding it to the vegetable mix? I add Vermicelli when I make something similar to this. Your Spring Rolls look delish!

    • @darrylpang306
      @darrylpang306 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No such thing as 5-Spice Tofu in Honolulu sadly. Lots of fresh, plain (soft or firm) Tofu available from 3 major local companies but no specialty flavored Tofu.

    I’m confused about the difference(s) between yuba, tofu skins & Qian zhang. At first I thought they were all the same. Now I’m thinking there is actually a thin tofu that isn’t yuba (soy milk skin). Please demystify the subtleties for me and anything in the area I may be missing. Are we commonly misusing these words/phrases? Thanks 🙂

    Pan-fried and dim sum really shouldn't be used in the same sentence. Maybe have some dim sum in Guangzhou first....

      @@EastMeetsKitchen i lived in Guangzhou for 11 years, and 12 years in Hong Kong. Moved to Singapore 3 years ago. In 23 years, i have never ever seen anything pan fried (except one kind of dumplings) for breakfast in any restaurant in Guangdong province or Hong Kong (dim sum restaurants obviously). But hey, you know better i guess. Point is, it's not dim sum, still looks good though. I don't do vegan but to each his own.

      @@nickschwaller3154 Just because you've never seen pan fried Dim Sum in the specific restaurants you went to, does not mean they aren't authentic and don't exist. She said herself that she has had them in China herself, and you even admit she probably knows better, yet proceed to still adamantly state that it is "not dim sum"?
      It is Dim Sum, she knows her own culture, and its not hard to find many recipes from other Chinese people doing the same thing and even pages talking about how pan frying has been a way to make dim sum for centuries now in China.
      If you prefer it not pan fried that's fine, but its still very much so, Dim Sum.
