When i was little, i remember playing under my Grandma's table while the grown-up ladies canned up all kinds of fruit and vegetables. My Mom was not a very good cook at all. So, i loved going to Grandma's. Now i am learning it by myself. None of my daughter in laws are not interested in learning the craft, but they sure like when i share my creations!!

My husband & I did a meat haul and a regular grocery haul the last two days. Yesterday I ground up some bacon, got 3 gal size bags of bacon crumbles and a gallon bag of bacon slices. For the 10 lb of ground beef, I made 12 burger patties, 2 lbs of beef in a bag, for the rest I added seasonings and made 24 meatballs and leftover for a meatloaf. This morning, I took the 10 lb pork loin, I trimmed as much fat I could get off, put a chunk of loin in a freezer bag, made 6 slices of pork flashed freeze and now in a bag and I ground the rest of the pork up and made homemade sausage and divided it up into 3 quart size freezer bags. Now we are set for the winter.

I admire your energy. Being a stay at home mam consumes a lot of it. I was a stay at home mom for 18 years and I lived for it. But life decided to change it to a working outside the home mom, grandma. I grow my own veggies, canning, freezing them. Only 4 more years to go of working outside the home and then I'm back to being what I live for. Being a homemaker. Love watching your videos. They inspire me a whole lot. Thank you for that 💐💐💐

I do remember life before fast food and everything we eat being processed and out of a box. So now I'm learning everything I can so I can teach my grown kids, and my grandchildren. My oldest daughters have been great about cooking from scratch since they became moms. I have bought my daughters canning supplies. It's a slow process in reteaching people but well worth it. So very happy I found you. And my single grown sons do send me photos of the healthy meals they've made. My oldest son wants to buy a house this year. I'm getting him an apple tree as a house warming gift when he does, and planning on helping build a garden. I want my sons just as knowledgeable and self sufficient too. To pass on the knowledge to their children.

Chelsea, I am extremely thankful for all of your gardening, preserving, and cooking videos. These skills were not taught to me. I am 40 years old and have been trying to learn them. I am also trying to teach my three daughters (as I learn). I love watching you and Jessica ( from Three Rivers..)
Please keep the videos coming, you are the teacher I never had!

I was wondering the same thing about the jar that the lid came off of. I've had a jar break during canning once, what a mess. But never a lid just come off. I bet your right you probably turned away for a second and forgot..I mean your triple tasking while filming! 😂 I'm glad the jar didn't break.

Everything you said about food is categorically correct, and you can see it reflected in the health of the people who live almost exclusively on processed foods. This video really showcases where you’re at with your kitchen remodel, in my humble opinion, absolutely the best iteration of colors and finishes to date, all the elements just work with each other 👏🏻.

I just had half a cow broken down by an older gentleman. He is retired and just wants to do this part time. But he is so busy because the young butchers don't know how to break down a carcass. Working in the stores now they just receive parts to work on. So sad, another lost art. Going to make those cough drops. Thank you for what you do!!

I grew up poor in a country in europe in the 90s. We didn't have much but what we always had was food from our garden, fruits from our trees and meat and eggs. My parents always cooked from scratch. The majority of people did. And the majority of people in the country side had gardens, fruit trees and animals. My parents are in their 60s and they still have a garden, they have more than a 100 fruit trees, and chickens. I learned to cook from scratch and I do it in my own family as well.

I added orange and orange zest to my canned cranberry sauce, and it was wonderful 😊. I used my immersion blender to slightly break it up.
I also treat my wooden handles and utensils with food grade mineral oil to keep the wood in good shape. And cutting boards. Just rub it in with a clean rag, and it soaks right in.

My grandmothers and my mom all cooked from scratch and canned as well, and I have always done the same. Actually more so than they did, mostly due to the pressure canner I purchased a long time ago. It's worth its weight in gold to me! My children are all grown now and my husband and I are now empty nesters, but we still raise or hunt and fish most of our meat and grow a garden and have a small orchard as well. When our family of seven were all home we needed to raise our own meat for financial reasons and we believed it was good for our children to know where there food came from and what was involved in harvesting it. We continue to do it now because we enjoy it and we still believe it's a better choice financially as well as healthier. Loved your video as usual. Love the smell of cranberries cooking! There should be a sniff button on here! 😜♥️

Chelsea, thank you for providing an education with food preservation, gardening tips, and the culinary arts! You are correct about the expenses of today's preprepared foods in stores. I would further argue that you can control the ingredients for your family, when it is homemade as opposed to subjecting everyone to possible chemicals and recall issues. That's important. I have been fighting off a cold that OTC cough meds aren't touching. I plan on trying your honey cough drops, once I locate my candy thermometer! I have loved using my spurtle for YEARS! I use it as a spatula and to bake with. There isnt much that it cannot do!

Another thought for helping the cough is onion honey…. Just chop up a fresh onion in raw honey and, unlike the garlic honey, which takes months to ferment, the onion honey is usually ready in a few days. It get to a liquid/syrup quickly.
Happy New Year to you and your family.🌞🙌💗
