I think Rharnys knew a one on one fight with Vhagar was unwinnable, but she had too much honor to run from a fight. Still, she nearly inflicted enough damage to make it out of their trap. Sadness.
Rhaenys was one of my favorite characters so that really hit me hard and if Laenor comes back it’s really gonna be sad that she didn’t get to know that he’s alive before she died.
The maid with the brows aka Larys' plant, is visible behind Rhaneyra and Darklyn as they are walking through Kings Landing toward the Sept, so Larys may very well know about the meeting.
It's all pyrrhic victory, a Queen who doesn't have a drop of Targaryen blood started its civil war. An ambitious family who always felt secondary and unloved by a King started this war.
Rhaenys knew Meleys was too injured to out speed Vhagar and retreat, so she knew they were dead either way. That prompted her to go out as a true Targaryen, in battle on the back of her dragon.
Thank you for bringing the dagger up Brandon! I knew you were my favorite for a reason! Lol! I think there's going to be a turncoat switcharoo, Aemond already saw the prophecy in the dagger and SURPRISE! he switches sides.. It was kind of dark but unless I am mistaken, Mayleis and Sunfyre were grappling and Aemond took out his brother via a quick blast of fire from Vhaegar? Or am I crazy?
Bro I thought I was the only one that noticed that I definitely think he has some sort of ulterior motive now because it didn’t seem to me that he was aiming for meleys
I feel like Rhaenys thinks she could take Vhaegar and Aemond with her. I don't think she had any delusion of beating them in a 1v1, but she hoped she could take them with her.
She definitely could have if they made Vhagar come to them instead. Such a big, slow target would be easily flanked. By flying blindly they gave up their only advantage and paid for it.

Kingmaker is a reference to the real Earl or Warwick, Richard Neville, during the War of the Roses. He orchestrated the York's victory getting Edward IV on the throne. He eventually fell out of favor, switched sides, and was executed. It's not a perfect comparison, but still
SPOILER SHIELD He’s so badly burned on the left half of his body that his armour is melted into his skin, and he spends most of the day sedated due to the pain. Sunfyre’s also alive but one of his wings is ripped off so he cant fly anymore
Sunfyres wing is badly damaged, I don’t think it’s ripped off because he eventually flies to dragon stone to meet Aegon there and kills moondancer..I really wish we would have gotten more screen time with Sunfyre and Aegon. He really is an incredibly beautiful dragon but it’s hard to connect with his defeat in battle because we have barely seen him 😞
Is Alys Rivers even real? Unless I missed something I don’t think she ‘s interacted with any other character and no one else has acknowledged her presence. What if Alys Rivers is a manifestation of a victim of the burning of Harrenhal?
Something that doesn't come up but could inform things, Jacaerys, Lucerys, and Joffrey DO have Velaryon blood, and Corlys also has Targaryen blood, which is where Adam and Alyn get the dragon blood from. Targaryens and Velaryons have been intermarrying since the Targaryens came to live on Dragonstone. Vaelaena Velaryon was mother to the three conquerors. More recently, King Jaehaerys and Queen Alysanne were both half Velaryon. Queen Alyssa Velaryon also mothered Boremund Baratheon, who is the current Lord of Storm's End's father, and Jocelyn Baratheon, Princess Rhaenys's mother. I know this isn't how genetics work, but Rhaenys is mathematically half Velaryon, which doesn't matter, but is interesting. Jaehaerys and Alysanne were both half Velaryon. Their children, Baelon, Alyssa, and Daela, were therefore also mathematically half Velaryon. Viserys was the son of Baelon and Alyssa, again making him half Velaryon. Aemma was Daela's daughter (also a grandchild of King Jaehaerys and Queen Alysanne.) So she would be a quarter Velaryon mathematically. So Rhaenyra would still be approx three eighths Velaryon. Point being, Rhaenyra's great-great grandmother was a Velaryon. Jace, Luke, and Joffrey have Velaryon blood, trueborn or not. In addition, by marrying Baela and Rhaena, their children would be direct descendants of Corlys and Rhaenys either way. Summary: Rhaenyra's children by Harwin Strong still have Velaryon blood, as Targaryen's and Velaryon's have been intermarrying for centuries.
49:11 DragonFire is more powerful than regular fire. Some Targaryans can withstand the heat of regular fire without injury, but DragonFire is on another level.
Corlys was born a few years before the parents of Rhaenys. So that is something to think about. He is also probably older than all of the dragons on Team Black.
Poor Rhaenys n Meleys man watching her fall was tough but in all honesty she seemed to know this was gunna happen when she volunteered for the fight. N was Aegon dead they didn't make that clear.
She knew that her martyrdom would let everyone else going forward know that Rhaenyra's side is willing to fight and die personally for them. Which is important when you're asking Crownlanders and Riverlanders to fight and die against Vhagar. And that's been kind of in doubt, right? Her willingness and ability to prosecute this war. That's also why it was important for Rhaenyra to volunteer to go herself in front of her council that has been doubting her. They will die for Rook's Rest. They will fight and die even for the small holds. It's propaganda. Of course, they can't spend a dragon on every small keep...which is why Aemond is about to do what he is about to do. The flip side is that every Riverlander who survives has a reason to fight the Greens...so it's kind of an "if I can't have it neither can you" strat.
Keep in mind, Meleys was first Alyssa Targaryen’s dragon and Vhagar was once the dragon of Baelon Targaryen (Viserys & Daemon’s parents). Meleys flew with Vhagar in war and in peace back in the day. The Red Queen knew what she was in for and knew they couldn’t win alone. 😢
Vermithor was King Jaeharys’ dragon..Queen Alicent’s dragon was named Silverwing and will be claimed by one of the dragon seeds named Ulf the White, and Vermithor will be claimed by Hugh Hammer
Am I the only one that took it as rhenys purposely sacrificing herself and taking one for the team? I feel like that’s why she locked herself in and went back. She knew the war was gonna get bad and felt bad after Aegon went down. She knew she didn’t want to see everything go down and possibly get worse. So instead she went back to injure Vhagar for her to be easier to take down in the future. That’s why she kept telling Melys to attack not just fire.
Did Aemond wait because he knew his rash brother would show up after the dressing down he gave him? And he was his actual target. Would he have killed him with his sword if what's his face didn't wake up?
Sir Christen. And probably. I would have taken them both out cuz I don't mind being a villain for the greater good. They're both so unbelievably annoying. Dracarys
Hmmm good point, in episode 3 daemon hesitated to drink even though they were being so open with him, then the creepy lady gives him some dramatic concoction and he’s like yeah sure, she up to something
I would say its a marginal win for the Greens. Rhaenys and Meleys were a far more powerful and experienced dragon and rider combination than Aegon and Sunfyre. She volunteered to go to Rooks Rest because she knew she was more expendable than Rhaenyra the Queen, Jace her heir or Baela who was bethored to the future king. While Aemond is also somewhat expendable on the Green's side, having Vhagar pretty much negates any threat bar you know who. Aegon had pretty much been sidelined at this stage anyway, with Aemond and Cole running the war. So having him out of the way for now gives the Greens a free hand to pursue the war they want too. Plus there's the fact they actually stormed Rooks Rest and slew one of Rhaenyra 's councillors is another small win for the Greens.
FYI I’m pretty sure cpr does exist or at least we know during the time of game of thrones it does. Robbs wife tells him a story about her brother who almost drown in the rhoyne. She pulls him out and thinks he is dead, but a slave pushes on his chest repeatedly and he coughs up a bunch of water
Funny how people be praising Cole and Aemond for their battle strategies, but they were all up in arms criticizing Daemon for his planning at the end of season 1. If people were listening to him, Rhaenyra would be already sitting on the throne now. And with not as many people dead either, or dragons. A lot of Daemons inner conflicts steam from people not listening to him. If Rhaenyra showed a bit more trust, we wouldn't be here wondering where his coin is landing.
Damn I really hoped that Laenor or Rhaenyra at least came to Rhaenys to talk about the fake death, so she could get some closure about her ONLY SON before the Dance of Dragons took off. Rhaenys didn't deserve to be lied to, cheated on, ignored constantly then used as canon fodder.
My 3 FAVES. 🥇🥇🥇 Um, you touched on it briefly regarding the dagger but not entirely, aemond was the one that injured Aegon. His full intention was to kill him because he’s become a liability & obviously Aemond would be a better war king. Rhenys was more than qualified to take Aegon out on her own but Aemond did it. I think the dagger will come up in conversation between Alicent & Aemond because unlike Aegon Aemond is perceptive & very studious. Idk how but some kind of way I think it’ll come out if not through aemomd than haelena.. it changes nothing but it only heightens the condemnation alicent feels, her part in all this. I think the loss the blacks took was only to balance the scales. Blood for blood. Nobody wins in this war. It’s a tragedy. A good episode & it doesn’t even feel like we’re only on ep4 so much has been covered. All the actors are doing so well, really happy for them.
I can’t help but draw parallels between characters of this series and characters of the original. For example, there’s similarities in Daemon & Jaime’s personalities (although their arcs will be very different); Otto and Tywin are stoic patriarchs who controlled their children, and the realm for a time, in often compassionless ways; Mysaria and Varys are lowborn who have risen to have a modicum of influence on their rulers and with regard for the common people. There are plenty of others for which those who discuss these things have mentioned. But during Criston Cole’s execution of the lord of Duskendale in last night’s episode, it suddenly reminded me of Jon’s execution of Janos Slynt in GoT (as well as Ned executing the deserter in the pilot and the Starks’/Jon’s overall creed of pass sentence/swing sword). Sure, you could also draw some parallels between Jaime & Criston, especially both being morally ambiguous (at best) Lord Commanders of the Kingsguard. But Cole now feels to me like a twisted version of Jon Snow. Both value duty and honor above almost all else, although Cole more often doesn’t carry it through in practice. They both carry a lot of guilt for their actions, but Jon tended to learn and grow from that, while Cole just keeps digging himself deeper and deeper into depravity and dishonor.
To add, I hate Cole more than any character in HotD. I’m rooting for his downfall above any other. Meanwhile, Jon Snow, while not necessarily my *favorite* character in GoT (that would be Tyrion), was the character I felt the most loyalty to and *rooted* for the most. After thinking about these parallels last night, I came to the conclusion that this is *why* I feel the way I do about each character. They’re similar in a lot of ways and yet polar opposites in the decisions they make and the reasons they make them.
Personally i think Rhaenys knew she couldnt beat vhagar. god im probably butchering these names. but my inkiling is that she needs to injure vhagar enough so that the other dragons the blacks have, now have a shot, or B, injured enough to have to be resting when the Greens need him. Its like a chess move, even though she knew that she would die as a pawn/rook however the saying would go.
I also, think that Alyn does know he is the bastard son of Corlys. He is so dejected by being someone of nobility, that i think he definitely knows that he is probably the son of him. idk
I think Rheanya had to die (and she died like a champ! her and Mayles) to set up for the BIG SHOWDOWN BETWEEN AEMOND AND DAEMOND. Vaygar is huge but she is battleworn and old and there will be more dragons to take her down. it's gonna be on and poppin next episode.
THIS IS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!! FAVE EPISODE THIS SEASON🎉👀🍿 RHAENYS IS BETTER THAN ME-I WOULDN'T HAVE GONE SOLO!!😮 THEY'RE JUMPING OVER THERE & DUDE LEGIT TRIED TO KILL HIS OWN BROTHER 🤯
Quite easy, thinking how Daenerys had 3 dragons and a huge army to conquer Westeros. Bad advice, bad decisions ultimately led to her loosing...having the biggest dragon and winning some territory doesn't mean u win by default
@rutherford5025 I am very much team black, but I have issues with both sides on how they prepared for Viserys's death. With how brilliantly Otto planned the usurpation, he really dropped the bar with Aegon. He really thought he'll be around forever??? To rule through him like he did with Viserys and his grandpa before him? Aegon should have been schooled in politics and war, for the event Otto will not be around. He's supposed to be his legacy, but that's where the human hubris comes to play I guess. Same with Rhaenyra and the blacks. She asked Daemon to marry her and help her to fight the greens in season 1, but it seems now she suffers from amnesia, and it's only him planning his war. After Driftmark, she seemed to know she would be challenged, but it's like 6 years of bliss on Dragonstone made her forget all about her stepfamily. Ugh, so frustrating!
Why 1 dragon? They coulda sent 4 dragons… and then finish the job quick, avoid aemond and vhagar, and just put Cole out of his misery. And probably get Aegon
Can we stop the woah as me I'm Alicent and nobody is on my side. Like cry me a river. Also Im thinking Larys might turn on Alicent if she becomes a liability. 🤞

Everyone needs an Axel impersonation in their life!!!😅
"This meeting could've been a raven" should be a shirt
I’m pretty sure rynera was also still in the same sempra dress from the last episode. The head covering was just removed
Vhagar is a female, this is really bothering me so much lol I'm so sick of people saying he like no SHE is a bad ass dragon !!
I did not read the books, but I thought both Alan and Adam are Corliss's sons and they know it.
They do know it. In episode 3 Adam commented to Alan "He owes us BOTH." when speaking of the Sea Snake.
I feel like Rhaenyra will make Corlys hand as an apology for Rhaenys
33:02 i wouldn't say NONE of these characters make it. I'm pretty sure that's Melisandre
This Meeting could'a been a raven !..... HAHAHAHHAHAAAA
Allan and his brother both know who their father is, you've probably forgot that they said so.
I have never hated a cgi character so much as I literally hate Vhagar - I don't know what is sadder
Definitely best episode of the series for far. The first real time seeing dragons fight was great.
The fact Aemond wasn’t even wearing armor!!
My 3 FAVES. 🥇🥇🥇
Um, you touched on it briefly regarding the dagger but not entirely, aemond was the one that injured Aegon.
And when you come to think of it, the real winners were the friends we made along the way…
Sun Tzu or Vhagar perhaps
This doesn't go live right?
Vermithor was Jaharys dragon Silver wing was the good queen Allisayne’s dragon.
If you say gwayne in a high pitch, it sounds like an arc reactor
RIP , Rhaenys , The Queen who should have been, also Vhagar is turning out to be a lil pus-dragon, all major moves are back stabbing, not head on !
It's war! Lmao ain't no rules or backstabbing... Vhagar is just smart and the most battle tested, took out Luke the same way a well
@@Ezra_303 only daemon can shut both you and vhagar up
How do you think she lived so long? Durrr! 🤣
@@fett713akamandodragon5it's funny how people out themselves as so naive and brash. In every war, there's fodder, I suppose..
He is so dejected by being someone of nobility, that i think he definitely knows that he is probably the son of him. idk
38:03
You ok Jess?😢
lol Zach, that stray hair curl is killing me..
This meeting could have been a raven. Should be on a t shirt
If the red witch showed up in this show i would not be surprised shes out there somewhere. Also no way aegon is dead.
How is Adum if hull going to be a dragonrider if he is corlys son. I would understand if they were leanors
Dude, R. totally rode the bomb, Strangelove style.
THIS IS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!! FAVE EPISODE THIS SEASON🎉👀🍿
RHAENYS IS BETTER THAN ME-I WOULDN'T HAVE GONE SOLO!!😮 THEY'RE JUMPING OVER THERE & DUDE LEGIT TRIED TO KILL HIS OWN BROTHER 🤯
It’s called “Blackwood Blackout”
As someone who hasn't read the books, I just don't see how Team Black could possibly win (this is coming from a Team Black supporter)
Quite easy, thinking how Daenerys had 3 dragons and a huge army to conquer Westeros. Bad advice, bad decisions ultimately led to her loosing...having the biggest dragon and winning some territory doesn't mean u win by default
@@VioletaElena19 Very fair lmao. Good thing I love an underdog and the blacks are definitely underdogs!
Aemond. That's the answer.
Why 1 dragon? They coulda sent 4 dragons… and then finish the job quick, avoid aemond and vhagar, and just put Cole out of his misery. And probably get Aegon
That was a hard episode to watch. Def made me tear up.
HOUSE OF THE DRAGON WAS PHENOMENAL 🔥🩸⚔️💪🏼 THE BATTLE WAS HEARTBREAKING AND EPIC!!! IM SHOCKED BRAVO HBO 👏 The Queen who never was 🥂 #HouseOfTheDragon
THAT WAS CORLYS BASTARD?! DUDE I DIDNT EVEN REALIZE OMG
WMD = Willy Massive Dragon
YESSS CHAPPELL ROAN REFS EVERYWHERE
Daemon's 2nd wife
Can we stop the woah as me I'm Alicent and nobody is on my side. Like cry me a river.
Also Im thinking Larys might turn on Alicent if she becomes a liability. 🤞
