    Melissa's doing a fantastic job! As a 25+ years broadcast video editor, I can totally relate to the enormous task she's taken on. Don't watch the clock on what she's doing - just like your builds, it takes time to achieve quality - and it's quality that brings results. The turning point will be when you can let go and not feel the need to run through what she's uploading. Go for it, Melissa!

    Jerry, 90 percent of the cutting I do with a blade making card models is the #12 scalpel blade in an X-acto handle. I have the one with a cylindrical plastic guard with friction lock to the handle. Slide back to expose the blade, forward to keep safe in my caddy. Most often I slide the guard off, use the tool, then put back on and lock to put in my caddy with pencils, picks, etc. The guard allows me to reach for it without touching that scalpel blade! It is much easier to see the point than cutting with a straight blade. Enjoy the new tools and remember you can put the scalpel blades in an X-acto handle rather than clipping in the flat scalpel handle.

    Hi Jerry;
    The binding to me looks old, just not as old as the bottom. However, it looks real good. I do believe the customer will be happy. I know if it were my guitar and had been in the shape this one was when it came in, I would be very happy with the binding. I do hope all of your family is well and hunkered down in a safe place. Out here in Wisconsin, we are staying at home except to get food and supplies that are essential. This video came at a good time to lighten the mood of being home bound. Thanks and remember to thank your video assistant for the great editing work. May the lord be with you and your family.

    Awesome Archtop Jerry, I have a Gibson 1934 L5 reissue and love it. I also have an old 1930s Kay or Harmony that was my dads and had many splits, one right down the middle. I had a local gentleman restore it back in the 80's but unfortunately his repairs didn't hold up. Late one night I was awakened to the guitar twanging with no one playing it! It was a scary experience but easily explained, one crack let loose and as the gap widened the stringed buzzed. It is now tucked away in a closet in a case and if the ghosts want to play it let them have at it!

A lot of people do not realise just how much time and effort goes into producing youtube content...especially when you have hours of footage to go through. Mrs RSW did a fanatastic job on that front. The sound levels are nice n consistant to...props to me ladies...peace.

    Jerry nice job as always. On the video I can see the color shades are not a perfect match, your wife will most likely call you out on it. Looking good even with the binding not perfectly matching, This is hard to match even with good color vision. No telling how long a perfect match now will stay identical since that thing is about 80 years old. Great videos showing the repair challenges and one way of how to overcome them.

    Pardon my intrusion, but I was watching you putting in that piece of kerfing and I kept wondering about using a soundpost setter for that. Stab it on there, and then you have enough holding power to put it where you want it, and hold it there. Maybe it's too short, I'm not sure how far that distance was, but something like that might be a way to deal with such issues. Just a thought. can't wait to hear this puppy strung up. LOVE those arch tops.

    • @RosaStringWorks

    I would think that the piece of binding that goes to the inside of the curve is shorter than the binding on the outside of the curve. That might be why they separate when placed on a curved surface after being glued together flat.

    I see in gluing the chip into the hole you recognized straight lines draw the eye. One reason there are no straight lines on decent camouflage works on wood repairs. Curves and odd shapes blend better for me so they are not seen once tinted and finished.

    Probably need more memory or a multicore processor. In addition, a good quality video card can make a difference. All three really. New computer may be deductible. That assumes your editing program supports multicore processors and that one understands the difference between memory and storage. Both are solid state these days. My solid state "hard drive..." boots windows in 21 seconds consistently. Whew!

    • @RosaStringWorks
      @RosaStringWorks  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      My PC is custom built for that. I have roughly 20 gig of memory. I have a solid state hard drive for the video processing. I have mini mini mini terabytes of storage space. So I have all of the proper equipment. The problem is the old videos taken with the old camera somehow conflict with the program and caused a program to crash. The new video taken with the new camera never seems to cause a problem.

    I love the music in your videos. I think it might take a lot of time inserting overlaid comments that identify the tunes. Video editing works with an edit list based on timestamps. Instead of adding text overlays into the video, you could simply copy the name of the tune and the timestamp into the video description maybe? Might save some time. Great job on the video. If categories are real...I am an Epi-Dude. "Fender or Gibson" they asked and I said "well I like the Gibb neck however that Strat sculpt is sublime..." and I did not know the answer to that question. Four decades later I know what to say besides the smart-ass "I can play anything with strings" which is true however that is a bit "fringe" to most folk. "Brian Eno doesn't know how to play any instrument but the studio" would also be relevant. However: if you are into categories then I have just been reminded whilst I gaze at the beautiful archtop that I, indeed, am an Epi-Dude. Epi-SG. Epi-Wilshire. And the guitar above gives me a company identity, even after the Gibb buyout. Epiphone - lose the Gibb before they drag you to their little hell. Don't be intimidated, Gibson has exposed her colors and there is no Gibson that I remember. I had an LP Junior (100 dollars in '72) - a gorgeous little beast but I didn't like the single bridge P-90 sound, like the amp was buried in cardboard boxes. Fantastic neck which led me to my trade in - LP Junior for an - wait for it - Epiphone Wilshire, the finest solid-body on earth (early sixties) and Johnny Winter agrees. Epiphone, please fer crissakes lose the Gibb - cut that tumor free. The law is on your side. Guitars built by musicians. Simple and obviously beautiful. Thank you Jerry for my company affiliate choice. I'll be their artist representative if they don't mind a bit of Hank Williams reinterpretation. With Stones.

    I’ve bound 1 guitar in my time, and that was a les Paul, pretty straight forward, I’m not questioning your decision so don’t take it that way, why did you decide to do the black and white mix on the outer binding and not using acetone to glue together 2 pieces of white to get the thickness you needed. Was it just an artistic decision? I mean it looks great I’d just like to know so if I am confronted with that decision I’d hope to make the right call as well.
