    I’m by no means an expert but I had my first child 2 years ago and I progressed very quickly. Active labor was less than 3 hours. I didn’t take any classes but my instincts told me to hum during contractions as well as be in a squat position. One tip I always tell my pregnant friends is to let go while in the process of dilating. The way I always describe it is to let your body relax so much that you might actually let out urine. Lol. Everyone always thought that tip was weird but I swear it helped me dilate really fast to just allow my pelvic floor to relax completely. It was instinctual so it was interesting to hear your bit on how having a full bladder disrupts the process. Thanks for the tips. I’m 25 weeks with my second!

    If I ever have another baby, I'm going to wear an adult diaper during the laboring at home stage, especially at night. The extra sleep and "free to pee anytime" is totally worth the loss in dignity.

    I'm pregnant with my 3rd baby and I absolutely agree that laying down is not in your best interest while in labour. Wow! Thanks for this video. 3 things you mentioned are kind of against the hospital policy when I delivered my 2 babies. They do not let you out of the bed once you are 6/7 cm dilated. Why? Idk. They tell you if you have to empty your bladder they give you a bed pan. This made me bladder shy. On top of that I couldn’t move much because they had me hooked up to those monitors the entire time. My legs were falling asleep from laying in that bed. I asked like 10 times to get up. Then they kept wondering why I was taking so long to progress. Well… makes sense now.

    • @thetreasureinthefield
      @thetreasureinthefield ปีที่แล้ว

      The reason is they don’t want you to progress to a vaginal birth. They do what they can so they can label you FTP (failure to progress) and send you off to a C-section because they make more money. Disgusting business.

    Honestly I been 2 cm and 80 percent for the past 2 week and I'm now 39 week, try everything almost 😓 I did yoga ball, walking and exercises to help dilate and nothing changed, I think honestly maybe I'm just very stress and I will try the breathing tech which did help me relax when I try it now, I will also try to see what sorten food to eat to help because I been having a lot of heart burn. Thank for the advice and the videos I'll try this and hopefully I can dilated more 🙃

    • @HypnobirthingWithAnja
      @HypnobirthingWithAnja  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Valery, yes, please try to stay calm and relaxed. Stress releases adrenaline into your body and it tells your body that you are not ready for labour or that it's not safe for labour to start. Also you are 39 weeks and most labour don't start until 40/41 weeks. The good news is that you are already partially dilated which means your body is doing the right things. Try to do relaxing things in the final days of your pregnancy. Being relaxed and calm helps your body to release hormones which tell your body that you are ready for labour. Do things that make you feel nurtured and loved. Good luck and I'm sure it won't be long before you meet your baby ❤️

The thing I'm finding most difficult at the moment is letting go of my fears around birth. I totally understand Cat! Meditation definitely helps and it sounds like you are educating yourself by doing an antenatal class so well done! It helped me by writing down my fears then replacing each fear with a wish/positive and alternative scenario instead. I'm sure you will be fantastic during labour! Self-belief can be a game changer. @HypnobirthingWithAnja  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi honey, if you go for a wee every hour you don't have to worry about peeing. It's important to empty your bladder often so that there is plenty of space in your pelvis for your baby to move down. I would definitely wear an adult diaper after birth as it can be very useful to absorb the postpartum bleeding which can be very heavy initially ❤️

My waters will break, but I never dialate over 1cm until after hours of labor and then I finally give in to being medically induced with pitocin, because no dialation. Thanks for your question. Have you got gestational diabetes? If you do, there is a chance that your baby could be bigger than average. If you don't have gestational diabetes, there is NO reason to think that your baby is larger than normal and your doctor is making you worry unnecessarily. Growth scans and measurements are not 100% accurate. There is a 25% error margin. This affirmation helped me "my baby is the perfect size for my body". Are you in labour? Have you been told you have gestational diabetes?

      Hi Iqra, I'm not a doctor so I can't give you any medical advice about sugar in your blood. Sorry! Doctors know about sugar in the blood and gestational diabetes. I am not in the position to give you advice about this. I know some women who have had vaginal births with gestational diabetes but I have also known some women who have had a Cesarean. I think it really depends on the size of the baby and how much sugar is in your blood. It can be reduced with medication and diet but usually this is done much earlier in pregnancy.

      It's probably well past your labor and delivery at this point, and I hope you got to find out what you were asking! I also hope you had a safe delivery and a healthy little one.
      I can only speak from my experience. The birth center I had my babies at has tubs for laboring in. Everyone is different but getting in the bath for me causes me to dilate quickly. I sit in the warm bath (just water, I don't use any bubbles or Epsom salts) and do pelvic bowl movements. That's a position where you sit with the soles of your feet together and you can rock side to side, lean forward Etc. I went from five to ten with my first very quickly, within five or six minutes. I had been at five cm dilated for hours before getting in the bath. My second took a little longer because I was induced with pictocin, and she was positioned less optimally than her older brother.
      Editing to mention that birth center doesn't do birthing in the bath, only labor.

    • @HypnobirthingWithAnja
      @HypnobirthingWithAnja  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your question. It's usually that your baby's head blocks the nerve signals to your brain telling you that you need to pee. But it's so important to empty your bladder regularly during labour to create space for your baby's journey down the birth canal. Also, a full bladder makes contractions feel more intense and challenging so it's good to reduce this as much as possible for your own comfort levels 💞

    I'd like to know, since a twin pregnancy is just by nature considered high risk, would I be in my right to insist on not having constant fetal monitoring when I arrive at the hospital? I believe they will insist in doing so.

    • @HypnobirthingWithAnja
      @HypnobirthingWithAnja  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Danielle, if I'm being honest I don't feel 100% confident in answering your question. This is what I know: With multiple pregnancies, there can be more risks but twin births can also be very straightforward as well. Because there are 2 heart beats to be monitored, they may advise that it is safer for you babies to be constantly monitored. However, you could ask your care team what the benefits and risks are to you and baby if you are monitored constantly or not monitored constantly. Also, ask if WIRELESS monitoring is an option for you as this will mean you have room to move about and don't feel restricted to a hospital bed. Hope that helps 💕

I couldn't stay relax

      Thanks for your message Erika. I don't understand why the doctor told you to go against, and ignore, what your body was telling you to do. You say you were 6cm dilated at the time. That surprises me as women usually feel an urge to push when fully dilated and baby is starting to descend the birth canal. I'm just wondering if you went to fully dilated very quickly or your cervical diameter was a bit narrower (10 cm being fully dilated is just a guide because we all have different bodies and some women's cervixes can naturally open wider across). When did you give birth and in what country? Or are you pregnant again at the moment? 💕

    • @HypnobirthingWithAnja
      @HypnobirthingWithAnja  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi honey, there are advantages and disadvantages to both birth scenarios but in general, vaginal birth is easier to recover from. Stress is never a good thing in labour so it's very important to relax your body for a more comfortable birth experience. Many women recover quickly from a C-section and many women recover quickly from a vaginal birth because they get plenty of rest, eat well, stay hydrated etc.
      You can prevent tearing during a vaginal birth through doing perineal massage and learning how to push/birth your baby smoothly.
      Also, to lower any fears/anxieties, listening to hypnobirthing meditations can be really useful.
      They really really helped me and it's the reason I teach hypnobirthing today. I was terrified of giving birth before I did a hypnobirthing course but I had a calm home birth and I healed quickly after giving birth because of all the education and techniques I knew about to support myself.
