i recently got into repairing flutes and piccolos. i’m just a high school student with limited tools, so it is by no means anything professional or life-changing for the instrument-but seeing this video makes me feel really proud that i managed to figure out how to do this on my own, and i hope to reach the level of the fcny technicians someday. thank you for taking care of our beloved instruments!
🤩Thank you so much for this look into the process. Truly informative. I have look at my flute and thought to myself that they cant possibly take all of these apart... turns out you do. This made me excited about getting a COA as soon as I can. Had a COA done years ago by another person and never felt 100% sure that what he did was right or good 🤔 but after years of neglect, it was better than nothing to regain the ability to play. BUT THIS...🥰 again thank you for the look into that portion of my flutes "medical" needs.
I tried repairing some flutes on my own (as a learning project. Never on my good flutes). If you are thinking about repairing your own flute, don't. Take it in. I read lots of books, watched lots of videos, and tried repairing several flutes, & so far, every flute I attempted ended up worse than the condition it was in. Most definitely a lot harder than it looks. I'm taking some classes this coming summer.
Excellent video. How would someone learn how to become a skilled technician like this? Not taught in schools? I’m guessing only by becoming an apprentice to an experienced technician.

Really excellent video!
Why does the master sign the head plug, does it have a warranty?
It’s strange that your master takes out two games between E and D, when it’s easier to take out one under F sharp.
