The route could definitely do with more in scenario planner only one platform for departing and arriving passenger trains, Ambergate and Chinley could have two trains going between them if not more with trains from Buxton and the single 8F with 16 loaded hoppers is a Moot service (in scenario planner) to use as it can't go on any route

I picked this one up. Honestly it’s the only route out of the 25 I have now that had a scenario where you didn’t just pick/set cars along the main once, but eight separate times as well as a little yard switching along the way. That showed me the person who made that scenario knows how road local switchers do service more than one industry at a time, and whoever made it needs to go back and do that to every.single.US route. And add a scenario/timetable extension pack. This did a better job than SOS by far, I do wish they’d add a steam loco dlc to layer in. Overall like the route so far only thing missing is layering in some diesel or cab car commuters

I feel what they should have added was a jinty tank engine
I mean … we’re lacking a small tank engine . We have express engine , goods engine , small tender engine .
We’re lacking a tiny tank engine 0-6-0 of the same company what is the rest . All from the LMS railway that’s what we needed .
I mean think on it we don’t need the jubilee or 8F we needed maybe a 5mt tender engine for passengers and a jinty for the shunting
Then we still would have 3 engines in the game . AND all new ones at that .
Imagine if this is what we got for engine roster
    Fowler 4F
    Jinty 3F
    5MT tender engine
All 3 new engines together . And it would have meant we could have used the Fowler for other things like the occasional goods perhaps down the line
This is what we should have got . And all together for tsw3 it would have given us 5 LMS routed engines all together . 3 big and bulky with 2 small and adorable .
And by the time tsw4 came along with Scotsman it would have given us 6 engines .
But we didn’t get this . We just got the repeat of the 2 engines of last time .
Oh well . I can dream

Yea, with the timetable according to the forums, many services that would be run by the locomotives were left out. Local services were also left out due to not having a dmu, but I wouldn't have minded a green 101 even if it's just a repaint and not modified to match the era. Dtg did talk about potentially having the 4f run local services, but only an aspiration. I think they should make like a gameplay enhancement pack with the diesels in tsw to add in a timetable layer into peak forest. Or better even, release a loco dlc (class 104 i think) to fill the timetable. I'm not a fan of steam so haven't gotten this route. The route could be much better.

The Class 104 would be a welcome addition to this route. There's some pictures of those units in Buxton on Flickr. As for a green 101 reskin, that would be fine by me.

I bought this route because I already knew Spirit of Steam wasn't much good but I still fancied adding some steam power to my collection. I personally think its criminal for them to leave SoS as definitively worse with the same two engines as this one, only this one has the 4f too. I will likely never own SoS for this reason.
I honestly really enjoy Peak Forest. I agree the timetable is sparse but thats my only real complaint; (basically all TSW add-ons are overpriced. This is no exception). I have a lot of fun with the steam trains and they are an interesting challenge compared to everything else (even if they are slightly broken. I got the 8F up to 341kph on Cajon Pass Downhill).
The route itself is also a nice change of pace, being quiet and peacefully in the countryside, as opposed to the cross city routes or purely functional modern railways we often get. Its a small detail but I like the retro touches too like the classic cars on the roads.
Could it have been better? Absolutely. But I'm still glad I picked this one up.

On the subject of DTG doing primarily British BR routes. British BR routes are what sells simple as that. On the subject of buying this route. Scenery wise it’s looks interesting but it’s a no purchase from me until a BR Green Diesel pack add on is released for it if for no other reason that you can better see the scenery from the drivers seat rather than having to drive from the outside view when driving a steam engine. The option of both steam and diesel is essential for this route imho.

There is a Durango&Silverton route for TSC but it's very, very old, payware distributed through some old website, slightly lacking in detail and the included loco has no cab view. The money goes to the real route's preservation though, as far as I know.

    US steam route suggestions
Cass railroad - shays as the locomotives
White pass & Yukon Alaska railway
    The older alcos
And there steam loco I think is either 17 or 19,
Or a steam pack with UP 844, SP 4449, NW 611, atsf 3751

Not adding a green Class 45 is just insane, they ran main expresses between Chinley and Ambergate.

    • @DC4260Productions
      @DC4260Productions  ปีที่แล้ว +4

I forgot about the Class 45, but now that I think about it, considering that we already have a 45 model in TSW (part of that Manchester to Leeds route), DTG should've backdated it to her BR green condition and bundled it with this route.

I'm still on tsw2 and I use the steam engines the most. But I'm considering getting ts3 mainly just for this. But I'm still
considering. Or depending if tsw 4 is good, and this route is compatable with it. I might just do that

I'm got TSW2 with Spirit and it was alright but I think TSW4 + Spirit of Steam for free and then Peak Forest and West Cornwall Steam Railtour all for 70 quid isn't half bad even though it's still ridiculously expensive.

Honestly, I was and wasn't impressed with the route. I was disappointed with the lack of rolling stock and even the lack of other engines. The quarries are nice, but the addition of the Fowler 4F and the ICI Hopper aren't worth it. They just copied assets from Spirit of Steam.
If this had been added into the Spirit of Steam route with the Fowler 4F, ICI hopper and a few new wagons/Locos:
    Cattle Wagon
    Tank Wagon
    Bogie Bolster flat
    LMS Iron Ore Hopper
    various 1-9 plank wagons
    LMS Jinty
    LNWR 380
    Super D
    LMS Dock Tank
And if we were to add in other main line engines for fast trains, I'd prefer a Princess Royal, Duchess or even a Royal Scot. Hell, give us a Black five if you wanna be absolutely cheap.
All in all, I wanted to see the line expanded to Liverpool Lime Street, where the line connected. Also, some 4-6-0s did pull four coach trains. Mostly it'd be engines like the Claughtons or Black Fives, not Jubilees.
As for the Narrow Gauge at Miller's Dale. that served the deepest part of Miller's Dale quarry and the narrow gauge railway brought the stone down to interchange with the standard gauge railway.
    Also, here's a link to the D&S for TSC-www.drhs315.org/ds-train-sim/
