I was a senior in high school when the movie came out in theaters. Everyone in the Class of '85 went to see the movie. We chose "Don't You Forget About Me" as our class song. To me, it's amazing that many younger people relate to this movie, even almost 30 years after it was made.
It is so funny because one or the other of the girls made a comment online about that post 1985 birth kids talk to her about the fact that "their generation invented the movie you are watching clips about" and whichever said the comment was like LOL you are a 1990 baby the world exists before you.

The best high-school movie of all time, no question. The degree of realism is stunning, and no matter how many times you watch it, it still looks and sounds fresh. And, my God, how beautiful Ally is, it is unbelievable.
AMH was a nutcase in The Babysitter. reminds me of that friend I had in highschool who would call out girls in the middle of the night making hooting and shouting noises by their windows and wait for their father to get so flustered they'd come after us and then we'd drive off just at that Point of now return father fissure moment. it was a dangerous pastime if we ever got caught which we didn't. we always got ready to drive off when people came at us. I love giving those fucking fat fathers a brain angurism. so much bliss oh the good ole days.
What I love most about this movie is that you could make this movie for nothing. It proves that you don't need grandiose sets, expensive cars chase scenes, ridiculously expensive CGI. None of the bells and whistles. It proves that at the end of the day, films are about telling stories. All you really to make a great movie is talent.
That was totally a John Hughes thing. Some movies were more elaborate like Farris Bueller, a lot of locations, but still very basic and every bit as iconic.
What I feel really funny is that my parents were 13 when this film got out. I am 17 now and I found it a few weeks ago and now I can't get out of it. I love this film and I've watched it 7 times already and I never get bored. This film is amazing and I'm really happy I found it and that I can share my experience with my parents.

I just rewatched this movie last night for the first time in like 15 years and man is it still amazing. I didn't want it to end I never wanted them to go their separate ways after detention. I wanted to see what happened on Monday morning.
Monday morning everything was back to as it was before. Nothing changed. The reason why Breakfast Club was so great was because it gave us a glimpse of who people really are but never show in public
I was 15 when this movie came out. and it was life changing for me! it showed me I wasn't alone anymore. or rather there was no need for me to feel so isolated and "different" from everyone in the world anymore! it showed me, WE ARE ALL THE BREAKFAST CLUB OF LIFE! we are all special and unique, yet very much the same!!!! and that's so necessary to know! especially as a teenager. anyway, I am still 15 and I am 40! and my heart never died! don't anyone give up, or be anyone else than who you are!!! we are all made to be ourselves! and yet together with everyone else too!!! ~ Vincent

Do you still feel this way Elizabeth? I know a lot of people wish they were from earlier generations. I know I do in some ways. For me, the post WW2 (late40s/early 50s), even with Korea going on, would have been ideal for me. My parents graduated HS in 52&54, great time. That said, I'm a child of the 80s myself, my teen years were all in the 80s...and if I can't have the 50s, I'll take the 80s. I have zero regrets. I know America and Reagan weren't perfect, but sure was a great time to be a teen!
It's pretty interesting because when I was a kid in the 80s and teen in the 90s, I never wished that I grew up in any other generation but my own, and yes we did have many movies, books and TV series to show us what it was like in generations before mine. Kind of strange but, damn, is it really that bad to grow up now? The Internet / WWW is a great tool and it's probably the only thing I wish that I had as a kid or teen. Well, we did have WWW in the mid 1990s but not wifi, only dial up lol! And I'd go into AOL chat rooms a lot back then. :)

Meaning, it was the most exhilarating emotional experience of my life, and on the flip side the saddest most heartbreaking time of my life. I will never know highest joy and deepest loss as the 80's ever again...this is certain, it makes me smile with love and cry with regret. Never regret your timing. Remember there are always 2 sides of coin I see you as the lucky one, mesmerized by the illusion of 80's perfection, without the reality of its true colors.
the year was 1985, i was 20, and i had the world at my feet. every experience was fresh new and exciting. i was working as an aupair in amsterdam and this movie was a massive hit!! i loved it then and i still watch it now, from time time to time. st elmos fire also and about last night sixteen candles and pretty in pink. all are brilliant movies that spoke to a generation. xxxx long live the 80's!
I thank God for many things and one of them is for being a teenager in the 80's. What a decade! The music, the movies... ohhh the nostalgia! I can't help to feel bad for today's generation, not because of what they experience now, but because of what they missed. This movie and others capture the zeitgeist of that decade. Viva the 80's forever!
This is why movies like this one are a great way for younger generations to see what a different decade was like. TBC is 10 years older than me. It is a generational thing, I think. I grew up with Dragon Tales, Caillou, Arthur, Teletubbies, Sesame Street, SpongeBob, and so much more from the '90s and early 2000s. When TV began to really suck ass I was introduced to classic tv. I am almost 20 now and was introduced to shows of my parent's generation aka "Pettycoat Junction, Bewitched, I Love Lucy, I Dream of Jeannie," etc in my mid to late teens. I absolutely love these shows, but it doesn't help that I have an obsession with the 1950s and '60s. But I love pretty much every decade from the 20th century for different reasons.
My husband turned me onto this movie when it first came out. Even though he has since passed on when I watch this movie it reminds me of him and the love we shared. Great memory!!

I was around 13 or 14 when the movie came out and now I work in a jr. high. I look at this movie much differently, now. Things have changed so much, yet teens today still go through the same agonizing angst-filled years that we did back then.
I can imagine your thoughts well. Same for me here in germany as a teacher and father of a 16 year old boy now. I was 16 when the movie came out and it matched my thoughts back then, especially benders rebellion style. So different today i'm on the other side haha life is strange.

I graduated in 1985 and I credit two films with having the most impact on me: The Breakfast Club and Fast Times at Ridgemont High. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't quote one, if not both of them.
I was exposed to The Breakfast Club my senior year in HS in 2013. I have loved it ever since. Fast Times is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen next to animal house.
Roy Batty taste?! Say Anything is a corny chick-flick, The Color Purple was an overrated bore, and Rain Man was more Hollywood cheese. You're the one with zero taste. Geez.
Fun facts for those who don’t know much about the movie’s background. Ronald Reagan was the first choice to play Vernon, but a meeting with Mikhail Gorbachev conflicted with the shooting schedule and he could not accept the role. In Reagan’s autobiography, An American Life, he calls this “The biggest regret of my life.” Harvey Keitel was the next pick, but after reading the script he told John Hughes that he’d only play the role if he could dress in the same clothes he wore in “Taxi Driver.” So Paul Gleason, son of Jackie Gleason, won the role. During shooting he improvised the movie’s most famous line, “Yo Sal, how come there ain’t no brothers up on the wall?” The role Anthony Michael Hall played was originally written for a chimpanzee. Eric Stolz was originally cast as Bender, then halfway through filming John Hughes realized he wasn’t menacing enough and fired him. But you can still see glimpses of Stolz in the movie. That is his head between Molly Ringwald’s knees. And Hughes wanted Justine Bateman as the Claire character, but Gary David Goldberg would not give her the time off needed to film the movie. Filming was delayed for six months because of a typhoon. Emilio Estevez suffered a heart attack right before shooting began, also delaying the shooting schedule. The five students were originally supposed to serve their detention in the school cafeteria, locked into the walk-in refrigerator, but then producers were worried that children would try to copy the movie and lock themselves into their refrigerators at home, then suffocate. The exterior scenes were shot at a suburban high school right outside of Chicago, but the library scenes were filmed at the Princeton University library, which is mostly underground and that’s why you see no windows in the movie’s library. Harvard University refused permission to film the dance scene there, so it was done at Oxford in England. Judd Nelson went undercover as a high school student at a local high school because seven years after graduating from a high school in Maine he had no memory of what high school was like, and found he liked it so much that he stayed at that high school after filming and four years later graduated as their Valedictorian. No one at that school ever realized he was an actor and not a student, even though he had been in three movies before “The Breakfast Club.”

My two teenagers adore all of the John Hughes movies, and they always laugh at Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles because they say that I look like Molly. Funny thing is that when I was a teen in the 80’s, everyone said I looked exactly like Molly. When I went to see Pretty in Pink in the theatre, someone in the audience shouted ‘look, it’s Molly’ when I walked in😂🤦♀️
1985 I was 17. Every morning during the summer I woke up to this movie and one of my best friends makeing me pancakes for breakfast then he and I would sit down and watch this. I think we wore out the VHS tape of it.Now shareing it with my15 yr. old daughter. Thank you John Grissom for all the movies that gave our parents some clue of what we where about, and let all of us know that "We are not alone"
80s was the last decade before the internet mobile phones and all social media ALL kids lived in the MOMENT , no fake insta TikTok videos REAL life! Best time of my life! How the world has changed ! 80s we miss you!

I have to admit, It was a great period in time. Music, Films and a President who was a true leader, God rest his soul. He was a great guy who would not back down to any one. The music still can stir a persons soul to get up and dance. The 80's were really awesome.

One of my absolute favorite movies of all time. I was a junior in High School when this came out. The absolute perfect cast, and IMHO, the best John Hughes film of all time.
I’m so blessed to say that I lived in the 80’s and went to high school from 85-89. Best time of my life. And you younger kids, what you see in John Hughes movies, it was exactly like that during that time. Be a fan of the 80’s and 90’s.👍
The best thing about that movie was the fact that they hated each other, but stuck together. They were from different backgrounds, different clicks, but they were all in there together and overcame their differences. IMHO, that's what made the movie great. I was 11 when Breakfast Club came out. My sister was 14. My parents took us to see it. I can still smell the theater and taste the Twizzlers. Theater of Pain came out soon after that. I'd love to go back in time.
I was 5 when this came out and kinda missed it while watching comedies, Eddie Murphy and Karate Kid. But watched it in my 30s lol. Now it's right up with Karate Kid, Coming to America, and Back to the Future.
Yeah I know the year 2000 was a good year after 2000 there was 2001 and we all know what happened during that year and after 2001-2107 everything sucks now! wasn't nothing to the interview. if you are going to do a 25 year anniversary on a movie at least make sure everyone could make it and do a better job interviewing the cast. get a host who connects with the 80's and loves the 80's would help not just another job to do/have.

I remember watching this as a 16 year old. Mind blowing date movie, lol - just awesome. Here we all are, decades later, as old fogeys, still trying to figure out life hahaha. Just some awesome lines and reflections/introspections to look back on.
This makes me "homesick" for the 80s. The best time to come of age. I had a blast, and if anyone invents a time machine, I volunteer to give it the first go...send me back! I'm willing to stay my age! I don't need to be a teen again. I just want all our amazing cool trends and gadgets because every one of them we have today was because of that decade.

Ha ha, yea...4 channels with my dial t.v. and no remote. My town didn't get cable for a while because they wanted the wires underground and woldn't tear it up. Then my parents wouldn't get it so I had to spend every day at my friend's house after school to watch MTV. :) I'd be absolutely FINE without the internet. Did just fine then. Spent my time actually face to face with my friends, outside, riding horses. Good times!!!
The thing about the 80s is that things were new. Take vhs tape, its nothing compared to dvd or bluray or tv on demand but, it was new, we could watch a movie when we chose instead of when it was broadcast, that was new and amazing. Computers, nothing like the power of modern pc's or tablets but, we could play a video game at home, on our tv, not just at the arcade. Movies, I'm sure movies were better, no cgi but, better stories and actors. And Spielberg with his magic just made my childhood brilliant. yeah i miss them days too.
I agree, but it is definitely an adjustment when plopped into that "time warp" like situation. I went home to the small mid-west town where I grew up last weekend for four days for a funeral. The house I stayed at had NO internet, NO cable, 4 channels, NO signal on my cell AT ALL, no house phone because it is a vaca home, and I was at the mercy of those who had a car and would allow me to borrow their phone. The "back in time" feel of it was so obvious and really affected me, in a good way. We talked, we really spent time engaged with each other, we listened to TAPES... lol, and watched a few VHS tapes, it was as close to the eighties, the way I remember it, as possible. The fact that that little town DOES NOT CHANGE and the same people are there, made the "time warp" "back in time" feel even more real. Several of us mentioned it, and really appreciated the experience. I will say, hair styles... not missing or nostalgic about those "bangs" or "mulletts" at all. The clothes... yea, I am planning on digging into some of the boxes in my Mom's garage for anything I can find...
The Breakfast Club was also my cult classic but I carn't seem to move on in year's, I am now 41 so you can imagine how old that film is to me. But when I feel down I watch it and it takes me back to when times were better than they are now. Ihave tried to get get my kid's & partner to watch it, but they are not interested,what a shame !!!!
loved the movie, those young adults at the time didn't realize what they had created, they were instruments and they created a piece of time that is dear to us. The music, costumes, the iconic lines, do they realize they captured something wonderful? Except for Bueller's day off, there is no other movie that I can think of that matters from the 80's.

I personally think this made everyone in my high school treat each other a little better, you still had the clicks and a few dispute's. We had 3000 kids in my high school and we all stood up for each other. I think the Class of "88 was the best group of people ever. Not just my high school but other's, I remember kids from another High School won a concert from some band and used the money from the sales to help a fellow student with cancer pay their hospital bills.
You're in control over whether it does or not. I've seen a lot of comments about how it is true that your heart dies, but I am 43 (and of that generation which was in its late teens when the movie came out) and my heart hasn't died yet. I feel like the best is always yet to come.
Brilliant teenager movie. Great to see these guys still being friends over the years. I was 12 when BFC went out. The French version were for sure a little different but the spirit was right there. I saw the movie (countless times) but with its original sound track years after and I rediscovered it somehow and I enjoyed it even more. Very inspiring as a teen back then and awesome memories as a 40er ! And Simple Minds "Don't You Forget About Me"... In my fav' playlist even since.

An American classic that every generation of kids I have known watched. The message of this movie could be found in most schools anywhere in America. I had my daughter watch it. The part Alley Sheady played was my favorite character. The caterpillar becoming a butterfly. She was perfect, beautiful and still is.
The 80s were a blast, and the last truly private and innocent decade in human history. No internet yet, barely any cable TV, you couldn't be sexually explicit or graphically violent on network TV, no school shootings, no cellphones, no video surveillance, celebrities didn't automatically sell out and become advertising conglomerates, Michael Jackson wasn't a freak yet or dead yet, and pop songs didn't have to have a relentless dance beat and always be about sex. I was born in 1967 which means I was a senior in high school when "The Breakfast Club" came out, and it changed my life, still one of my favorite movies. I love my cellphone and my iPod and obviously I use the internet, but we did just fine in the Eighties without all that stuff. The world was bigger and more mysterious then because you couldn't just zip over to England on Google Earth and you could only put one tape at a time in your Walkman, and somehow that made life more interesting. I don't know how, it just did.
I promise all of my fellow 80's compatriots, if i ever invent a time machine I will transport every last one of us back to 80's when life seemed a hell of a lot better than today. And we would savor every single day of those presious by gone days..

Anthony Michael Hall had such a transformation. He played the pencil-neck geek back then, but after beefing up, he was able to play bully-type bad guys and jock.
I still can't believe he's the same person who played Winona Ryder's awful boyfriend in Edward Scissorhands. He looks completely different, I had no idea it was him.

I just rewatched this movie last night for the first time in like 15 years and man is it still amazing. I didn't want it to end I never wanted them to go their separate ways after detention. I wanted to see what happened on Monday morning.
Monday morning everything was back to as it was before. Nothing changed. The reason why Breakfast Club was so great was because it gave us a glimpse of who people really are but never show in public
I was 15 when this movie came out. and it was life changing for me! it showed me I wasn't alone anymore. or rather there was no need for me to feel so isolated and "different" from everyone in the world anymore! it showed me, WE ARE ALL THE BREAKFAST CLUB OF LIFE! we are all special and unique, yet very much the same!!!! and that's so necessary to know! especially as a teenager. anyway, I am still 15 and I am 40! and my heart never died! don't anyone give up, or be anyone else than who you are!!! we are all made to be ourselves! and yet together with everyone else too!!! ~ Vincent

Do you still feel this way Elizabeth? I know a lot of people wish they were from earlier generations. I know I do in some ways. For me, the post WW2 (late40s/early 50s), even with Korea going on, would have been ideal for me. My parents graduated HS in 52&54, great time. That said, I'm a child of the 80s myself, my teen years were all in the 80s...and if I can't have the 50s, I'll take the 80s. I have zero regrets. I know America and Reagan weren't perfect, but sure was a great time to be a teen!
It's pretty interesting because when I was a kid in the 80s and teen in the 90s, I never wished that I grew up in any other generation but my own, and yes we did have many movies, books and TV series to show us what it was like in generations before mine. Kind of strange but, damn, is it really that bad to grow up now? The Internet / WWW is a great tool and it's probably the only thing I wish that I had as a kid or teen. Well, we did have WWW in the mid 1990s but not wifi, only dial up lol! And I'd go into AOL chat rooms a lot back then. :)

Meaning, it was the most exhilarating emotional experience of my life, and on the flip side the saddest most heartbreaking time of my life. I will never know highest joy and deepest loss as the 80's ever again...this is certain, it makes me smile with love and cry with regret. Never regret your timing. Remember there are always 2 sides of coin I see you as the lucky one, mesmerized by the illusion of 80's perfection, without the reality of its true colors.

the year was 1985, i was 20, and i had the world at my feet. every experience was fresh new and exciting. i was working as an aupair in amsterdam and this movie was a massive hit!! i loved it then and i still watch it now, from time time to time. st elmos fire also and about last night sixteen candles and pretty in pink. all are brilliant movies that spoke to a generation. xxxx long live the 80's!

I thank God for many things and one of them is for being a teenager in the 80's. What a decade! The music, the movies... ohhh the nostalgia! I can't help to feel bad for today's generation, not because of what they experience now, but because of what they missed. This movie and others capture the zeitgeist of that decade. Viva the 80's forever!
This is why movies like this one are a great way for younger generations to see what a different decade was like. TBC is 10 years older than me. It is a generational thing, I think. I grew up with Dragon Tales, Caillou, Arthur, Teletubbies, Sesame Street, SpongeBob, and so much more from the '90s and early 2000s. When TV began to really suck ass I was introduced to classic tv. I am almost 20 now and was introduced to shows of my parent's generation aka "Pettycoat Junction, Bewitched, I Love Lucy, I Dream of Jeannie," etc in my mid to late teens. I absolutely love these shows, but it doesn't help that I have an obsession with the 1950s and '60s. But I love pretty much every decade from the 20th century for different reasons.

I was around 13 or 14 when the movie came out and now I work in a jr. high. I look at this movie much differently, now. Things have changed so much, yet teens today still go through the same agonizing angst-filled years that we did back then.
I can imagine your thoughts well. Same for me here in germany as a teacher and father of a 16 year old boy now. I was 16 when the movie came out and it matched my thoughts back then, especially benders rebellion style. So different today i'm on the other side haha life is strange.

I graduated in 1985 and I credit two films with having the most impact on me: The Breakfast Club and Fast Times at Ridgemont High. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't quote one, if not both of them.

Fun facts for those who don’t know much about the movie’s background. Ronald Reagan was the first choice to play Vernon, but a meeting with Mikhail Gorbachev conflicted with the shooting schedule and he could not accept the role. In Reagan’s autobiography, An American Life, he calls this “The biggest regret of my life.” Harvey Keitel was the next pick, but after reading the script he told John Hughes that he’d only play the role if he could dress in the same clothes he wore in “Taxi Driver.” So Paul Gleason, son of Jackie Gleason, won the role. During shooting he improvised the movie’s most famous line, “Yo Sal, how come there ain’t no brothers up on the wall?” The role Anthony Michael Hall played was originally written for a chimpanzee. Eric Stolz was originally cast as Bender, then halfway through filming John Hughes realized he wasn’t menacing enough and fired him. But you can still see glimpses of Stolz in the movie. That is his head between Molly Ringwald’s knees. And Hughes wanted Justine Bateman as the Claire character, but Gary David Goldberg would not give her the time off needed to film the movie. Filming was delayed for six months because of a typhoon. Emilio Estevez suffered a heart attack right before shooting began, also delaying the shooting schedule. The five students were originally supposed to serve their detention in the school cafeteria, locked into the walk-in refrigerator, but then producers were worried that children would try to copy the movie and lock themselves into their refrigerators at home, then suffocate. The exterior scenes were shot at a suburban high school right outside of Chicago, but the library scenes were filmed at the Princeton University library, which is mostly underground and that’s why you see no windows in the movie’s library. Harvard University refused permission to film the dance scene there, so it was done at Oxford in England. Judd Nelson went undercover as a high school student at a local high school because seven years after graduating from a high school in Maine he had no memory of what high school was like, and found he liked it so much that he stayed at that high school after filming and four years later graduated as their Valedictorian. No one at that school ever realized he was an actor and not a student, even though he had been in three movies before “The Breakfast Club.”

I was so lucky to have seen it in theaters and on TV with those 2 or 3 deleted scenes. The commenting money for soda scene, the scene where Allison walks right up behind the principal in the hall while he was at the water fountain and they're was another one I can't remember

My two teenagers adore all of the John Hughes movies, and they always laugh at Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles because they say that I look like Molly. Funny thing is that when I was a teen in the 80’s, everyone said I looked exactly like Molly. When I went to see Pretty in Pink in the theatre, someone in the audience shouted ‘look, it’s Molly’ when I walked in😂🤦♀️

1985 I was 17. Every morning during the summer I woke up to this movie and one of my best friends makeing me pancakes for breakfast then he and I would sit down and watch this. I think we wore out the VHS tape of it.Now shareing it with my15 yr. old daughter. Thank you John Grissom for all the movies that gave our parents some clue of what we where about, and let all of us know that "We are not alone"

I have to admit, It was a great period in time. Music, Films and a President who was a true leader, God rest his soul. He was a great guy who would not back down to any one. The music still can stir a persons soul to get up and dance. The 80's were really awesome.

The best thing about that movie was the fact that they hated each other, but stuck together. They were from different backgrounds, different clicks, but they were all in there together and overcame their differences. IMHO, that's what made the movie great. I was 11 when Breakfast Club came out. My sister was 14. My parents took us to see it. I can still smell the theater and taste the Twizzlers. Theater of Pain came out soon after that. I'd love to go back in time.

wasn't nothing to the interview. if you are going to do a 25 year anniversary on a movie at least make sure everyone could make it and do a better job interviewing the cast. get a host who connects with the 80's and loves the 80's would help not just another job to do/have.

I remember watching this as a 16 year old. Mind blowing date movie, lol - just awesome. Here we all are, decades later, as old fogeys, still trying to figure out life hahaha. Just some awesome lines and reflections/introspections to look back on.
This makes me "homesick" for the 80s. The best time to come of age. I had a blast, and if anyone invents a time machine, I volunteer to give it the first go...send me back! I'm willing to stay my age! I don't need to be a teen again. I just want all our amazing cool trends and gadgets because every one of them we have today was because of that decade.

Ha ha, yea...4 channels with my dial t.v. and no remote. My town didn't get cable for a while because they wanted the wires underground and woldn't tear it up. Then my parents wouldn't get it so I had to spend every day at my friend's house after school to watch MTV. :) I'd be absolutely FINE without the internet. Did just fine then. Spent my time actually face to face with my friends, outside, riding horses. Good times!!!

The thing about the 80s is that things were new. Take vhs tape, its nothing compared to dvd or bluray or tv on demand but, it was new, we could watch a movie when we chose instead of when it was broadcast, that was new and amazing. Computers, nothing like the power of modern pc's or tablets but, we could play a video game at home, on our tv, not just at the arcade. Movies, I'm sure movies were better, no cgi but, better stories and actors. And Spielberg with his magic just made my childhood brilliant. yeah i miss them days too.
I agree, but it is definitely an adjustment when plopped into that "time warp" like situation. I went home to the small mid-west town where I grew up last weekend for four days for a funeral. The house I stayed at had NO internet, NO cable, 4 channels, NO signal on my cell AT ALL, no house phone because it is a vaca home, and I was at the mercy of those who had a car and would allow me to borrow their phone. The "back in time" feel of it was so obvious and really affected me, in a good way. We talked, we really spent time engaged with each other, we listened to TAPES... lol, and watched a few VHS tapes, it was as close to the eighties, the way I remember it, as possible. The fact that that little town DOES NOT CHANGE and the same people are there, made the "time warp" "back in time" feel even more real. Several of us mentioned it, and really appreciated the experience. I will say, hair styles... not missing or nostalgic about those "bangs" or "mulletts" at all. The clothes... yea, I am planning on digging into some of the boxes in my Mom's garage for anything I can find...
The Breakfast Club was also my cult classic but I carn't seem to move on in year's, I am now 41 so you can imagine how old that film is to me. But when I feel down I watch it and it takes me back to when times were better than they are now. Ihave tried to get get my kid's & partner to watch it, but they are not interested,what a shame !!!!
loved the movie, those young adults at the time didn't realize what they had created, they were instruments and they created a piece of time that is dear to us. The music, costumes, the iconic lines, do they realize they captured something wonderful? Except for Bueller's day off, there is no other movie that I can think of that matters from the 80's.

I was a year old when this movie came out, I believe I first watched it in High School in psychology class and fell in love with the movie.
I personally think this made everyone in my high school treat each other a little better, you still had the clicks and a few dispute's. We had 3000 kids in my high school and we all stood up for each other. I think the Class of "88 was the best group of people ever. Not just my high school but other's, I remember kids from another High School won a concert from some band and used the money from the sales to help a fellow student with cancer pay their hospital bills.

I was 12 when BFC went out. The French version were for sure a little different but the spirit was right there.
I saw the movie (countless times) but with its original sound track years after and I rediscovered it somehow and I enjoyed it even more.

The part Alley Sheady played was my favorite character. The caterpillar becoming a butterfly. She was perfect, beautiful and still is.

No internet yet, barely any cable TV, you couldn't be sexually explicit or graphically violent on network TV, no school shootings, no cellphones, no video surveillance, celebrities didn't automatically sell out and become advertising conglomerates, Michael Jackson wasn't a freak yet or dead yet, and pop songs didn't have to have a relentless dance beat and always be about sex. I was born in 1967 which means I was a senior in high school when "The Breakfast Club" came out, and it changed my life, still one of my favorite movies. I love my cellphone and my iPod and obviously I use the internet, but we did just fine in the Eighties without all that stuff. The world was bigger and more mysterious then because you couldn't just zip over to England on Google Earth and you could only put one tape at a time in your Walkman, and somehow that made life more interesting. I don't know how, it just did.

Anthony Michael Hall had such a transformation. He played the pencil-neck geek back then, but after beefing up, he was able to play bully-type bad guys and jock.
