    Such a pretty jump. It's amazing that you can jump so slow for demonstration and still be floaty

    I love that skatie breaks down the skill progression you need to learn a trick. It makes things like this look so much more approachable if we have the baby steps to do it

    • @Skatie
      @Skatie  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you.xx It’s how I learn a new skill too. If I break it down into bite size chunks it stops me from getting overwhelmed. That way I can build on each part of the skill until I can add the next bit. It really works because when I film a video I always improve the skill too, just because I’m practicing it in the small pieces. Haha perfect! 🤩

    I literally have been trying to do these for the last week 🥰 I've been able to do it a few times but am still looking like a newborn giraffe when doing it 😅
    Now I have a break down of how to do it!
    Thank you Skatie Katie for your tutorials!

      That’s fantastic to hear that it has helped. Take your time with learning this and have fun.

    Thanks for breaking down the components. Now it all makes sense. I realize that it doesn't just happen, there is a series of smaller movements that make the turns "Look" like it is just one swift move.
    Thank you

      There’s always so much going on inside the boot that impossible to see. Hope the video has helped you unlock this skill xx

    Thank you! Thank you for explaining where my balance and weight are supposed to be, plus, a slow motion display of the feet during landing!! Love this!!!

    • @Skatie
      @Skatie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. My husband (camera man, editor etc he does everything but the skating !) insists on lots of slow mos. They seem to really help show the motion better than I can explain it.

    I just love watching your videos! I'm just getting back on rollerskates after 36 years...I used to be fairly good back in the day but getting older has made me more cautious 😃

      Kudos to you. I'm trying quads for the first time. I'm in my 70's. I switching from ice. I love quads because you can adjust trucks, toe stops, wheels, etc for your needs. The huge plus is I can practice in my house. (Hardwood floors) Only the cats and my pooch can laugh at me. Best of luck.

    Great timing with this one as I've just started trying this out 🤩 I didn't know how to do it so I was getting myself used to the landing by jumping from 2 feet onto one. Going to try from one to the other soon 🙈

    Hi Katie. Thank you for the tutorial. Do you have any tips/drills for the landing? It's a challenge for me to keep that foot out in front (I can do it dry but on wheels I feel like I'm going to fall backwards). Love your videos especially these more intermediate ones xx

    • @Skatie
      @Skatie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you x. You can definitely land it on two feet at first to build up. Also make sure you’re really comfortable backwards on one foot. A good drill is to skate backwards on one leg and do a little hop. That helps to practice the feel of the landing.

    • @lucycapy1992
      @lucycapy1992 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Skatie thanks so much xx yes I am currently doing a 2-foot land (I can land on one foot but the form is so terrible haha I decided to concentrate on arm and free leg positioning going into it first). I'll try a wee hop. Quite terrifying

  • @skatiesadiemator5948

    Will you do a video on skating over different terrain outside. Also how do you handle the random rock type thing just waiting to take you out?

    • @Skatie
      @Skatie  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We have a skating outside video. Have you watched that one? Those stones!! Definitely a skaters nemesis! I think having a bit of speed helps when skating forwards but sometimes it’s inevitable that the stone is going to win. Wearing your safety gear outside at least offers some protection when it does happen

    Nice video😍 I just have a quick question because I am from figure skating. Where do you take off? Normally I would use my toe pick at the front of the blade. So do I use the toe stopper on the roller blades as well to take off? 🤔

    • @Skatie
      @Skatie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea. The toe stop at the front replaces the pick.

    • @3rdOneOut
      @3rdOneOut ปีที่แล้ว

      But you don’t have to use the toe stops to take off/land right? I feel like they’d trip you on takeoff… I don’t have toe stops on my skates so I’ve been learning this jump sans pick/stop. It’s working pretty well.

    Is this similar to a euler?

    • @Skatie
      @Skatie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi. No, a Euler is what I’d call a half-loop. It’s considered a linking jump most commonly used to change leg during a combination jump sequence.
