It did get blocked right away but I freed it up for a bit. They don't make replacement belts like they used to. I would have to replace the belt on my snowblower every 2-3 years since the factory belt went after 8 years or so. I replaced it last year, 2016, and then it went again in the middle of the biggest storm this year. What a coincidence! I had to take mine to a repair shop. The drive might be toast. It's a Honda, though, and the engine is out of this world. Almost as good as Troy's consistently excellent playing. His Heart of the Sunrise, for example, is fantastic. Check it out if you haven't already. Cheers.
Very nice, Troy! Like a couple other people mentioned, my favorite part is the improv bit that you play. More of that kinda stuff would be cool with me :)
Great job! Thanks for the visual and it's a lot harder than I thought it would be. Then again, I don't hear all the notes on the recording so the visual is sometimes completely different than I imagine it to be. I haven't found a bass cover of "Gypsy" anywhere so if you could do that one it'd be awesome. Thanks.
interesting. Everyone else seems to cover using open strings playing around the second and third fret. I thought your approach would be harder, but once I caught on, I think it may be a little easier. Thanks for doing this.
As I remember it, I think I played it in this position because it sounded a little bit deeper, rounder, and meatier as opposed to playing it lower, on the thinner strings which sounded a bit more focused and clarified. Thanks for the insightful comment.
Like usual, it's really entertaining to see and hear front and center the bass in a song I've heard many times that's otherwise buried in the mix. You should see if you can tackle the extremely complicated riff from Everyday People....it's literally G all the way through. That should make it a great song to improvise to, though.

I'm sorry, but I don't. I play by ear and memory and don't transcribe anything. Though, the last couple of Kansas covers I've done have links beneath them that will take you to accurate notation and tabs that I had a hand in putting together.
Excellent Troy. I've always loved FM. You mention that this may be taken off by YT, but how does that work exactly? Tight performance. Kudos. Seen a lot of players play this at the bottom of the neck. As a guitar player who on rare occasion fills in on bass, just curious why one way vs. another. In the end if it sounds good it really doesn't matter, I realize. Just curiosity.
What's funny to me is looking around TH-cam pretty much everyone else plays this at the bottom of the neck. I guess that's easier when you're relatively new to the fretboard. But I agree with you on the tone and also if you look at live shows you'll see McVie playing at 5th fret.

Hey Troy! Howyadoin? Working through this ok, but man some tabs would be helpful. I'm assuming you don't prescribe to that eh? Brilliant work as usual my good man. Shaun.
Hi Shaun! I wish I could help, but TABS and transcriptions are really Greek to me. The Kansas/Leftoverture project I'm doing with Tim Fletcher and NoTreble feature some super accurate TABS of those songs if you have any interest that.
@@TJH3113 Gooday Troy, thanks for your reply (you never fail too). I will look into that and thanks for pointing it out. It's ok learning without the tabs and l do ok without them. The straight on view you have on your clips makes it pretty easy to pick up fretting positions. I guess I'm just being a bit lazy😏
@@shaunboast3867 No problem. I'll try to respond to as many comments as I can for as long as I can. The Kansas thing is top-notch and I'm proud to be a part of it. Being self-taught and playing by ear and memory for as long as I've been doing it has made it difficult to foray into the world of TABS. I just don't see the fretboard in that way, so it's extremely tedious to even go through what Tim has TAB'd, let alone TAB it myself. Hopefully, he and I can do some other targeted songs in the future. You know, when my wife asked our young friend, Ellie Kim, what she liked most about my channel it was exactly as you stated... the straight on view of both hands. Who to knew?
@@TJH3113 It would be great to have that skill of playing by ear, and in a way I suppose I'm gaining ground there in my journey. The Tabs are good as a starting point if you are learning a song, but as I mentioned not essential if you have a visual cue such as your clips. I'm discovering that playing along with a song I've learned is fun and OK, but after gaining an understanding of blues scales, arpeggios, and scale types I finding I'm enjoying more the improvisation of using a backing track to play along with such as a cord progression or blues or rock backing track. The biggest hurdle I had to get over was technique, was getting hung up on what's supposed to be right or wrong. What I've learned is your technique tends to be fairly individually based and the result that counts. Always good touching base with you Troy. BTW, I just love your mask collection and your passion that goes with it.

TJ, have you covered The Chain?
No, I haven't done that one.
Hey Troy!
This helped me, but I found playing the open A and the rest up on the neck, my fingering was much tighter and easier for me personally.
Awesome. I think I played it in this position because it sounded a little fuller and warmer, being a bit easier was a happy coincidence.
@@TJH3113 cool, I'm 66, started mid 50's, in 2 bands, blessed with good ear...need help from time to time.
Life is good 👍
A year later and still blocked. Thanks I'm going to cover this.
Expect a bit of trouble if you try to upload it. Fleetwood Mac is tough with regard to copyright protection.
Effortless technique, fantastic pocket, move through sections seamlessly.
Who the hell ARE you???
Thank you for the very kind words.
I am Keyser Soze.
@@TJH3113 Gonna call my next band the Usual Suspects then because you are KILLIN us LOL
I grew up with constant jokes about Fleetwood Mac basslines being very basic, but in isolation they are quite tasteful.
Me too. Agreed.
Quite a few ghost notes in that
Maybe more staccato than ghosted, but I get what you're saying.
Rhianna was born in may in 1979. I fact checked it.
