To bad. As a "child of the 90s", I think the old Mcdonalds design was much better than the current green one. Modernization does not always have to mean something positive.
Joel Ogarrio it doesn’t have to be modern. As long as it works nothing has to change. The light fixtures in the dining area were very nice. The play area could still be the way it is if they remodeled the building instead of tearing it down. I’m glad when the remodeled my childhood McDonald’s the play area stayed the same. They could’ve done that here. The fact that they left the play area there for the bulldozers to demolish is just sick. McDonald’s tactics are stupid in a lot of places.
McDonald's corporate mandated that all franchise owners update their restaurant to the new prototype, that's been around about 20 years in it's basic form. Originally they exempted some locations in smaller, more remote areas but two years ago with the switch to digital menu boards they ended the exemption.
I lived in South Dakota as a child and we would travel to the cities to see family. We would always stop here and play. Later in life the family settled in Saint Peter. My first job was here as soon as I could legally get one. I cut my teeth in the job market and enjoyed my childhood just a little bit more because of this place. Thank you.
Wow, thinking about it me or my family has probably seen you over 20 times just coming to this McDonald’s. A lot of my family used to live in saint Peter. Just weird knowing that I have seen you in person before. I live in Texas know and very few of my family members still live in saint Peter
I have a 1970-71 McD’s in my hometown in New Jersey with original brick exterior. Wonder how that one was constructed? Disappointing to see that even 40+ years ago in 1980 this one was constructed with cheap materials.
This building was from the 1980s. Hardee's when they wanted to renovate all locations had this mindset: "Renovate, or restaurant is gone". And keep in mind that when the building are 41 years old, there is 41 years of grease somewhere in there. Also, its more cost effective to build a new building as it will have a lower operating cost then an older building thats high maintenance. Be glad that they are rebuilding and not packing up and getting the fuck out.
Dang, I had no idea they were doing this. I used to live in Le Sueur so we would stop here a lot. Anyone else remember playing that Elmo game in the playplace? Those controllers got so abused. 😆
They did something like this too in my nearest McDonald's in Pearl road with the PLAYPLACE Using The Classic Building Look. They Demolished It Weeks Ago. Oh Well.
When you don’t get your favorite happy meal toy and that was the last day they would sell it and your dad said we would go to McDonald’s again tomorrow
They removed the menu boards, and leftover food. Anything perishable was probably sent to the Waseca McDonalds as the same people own this McDonalds. McDonalds Corporation probably also doesnt want any of the outdated stuff like cash registers or decoration or tables to be reused. As new McDonalds do not have this type of booth seating anymore. The more expensive stuff like the appliances were also most likely removed because of what they cost.
I’m sure there are plenty of people that would have been grateful to receive the unwanted booths, tables, and seating. It seems today a lot of places try to sell the stuff off and if they can’t sell it, they would rather destroy it than give it away. It’s really very sad. If there’s any concern of a liability, have whoever’s removing it sign a waiver.
I understand why you'd tear an old McD's down, age of the actual structure etc. It's the absence of preserving some of the decorations and such for prosperity sake, from the inside of the restaurant before its reduced to splinters. That stores interior was quintessential 90s McDonalds. The larger travesty is the new buildings that's taken these old stores place. Depressing box like buildings, layered in muted, boring and uninspired colours.
Two things I don’t like : Why do they sometimes get rid of the Playplace in the McDonald’s and why the hell do they get rid of the retro buildings of McDonald’s ?! The shoebox designs are trash.

As a 2000's kid, that's the style of McDonald's I remember. Wish we would return to that type of architecture.
I had a lot of fun in that playplace growing up, it's cool to see a video showing it one last time. Thanks for sharing.

I used to play in the playplace in mcdonalds as well
@@TexasCarWashChannel626 they built new one on top
Why did they do this!? This was a great looking McDonald’s. Nice seating area and super big play area. No reason to tear it down.

That is a flimsy wood frame McDonald’s. All the old ones they tore down in Florida were made out of concrete block.
