    Sorry to bother you good sir, but I need help. I'm a new model railroader, so I've been buying my dcc engines while I was overseas working. Well once I returned back home I wanted to try the engines out, to make sure they work. Well i run a nce system, but my genesis, bachman, Kato run just fine. Walthers and atlas will turn on, whether its noise or just lights, but I can not control them. Have you gone thru this before with your engines. I haven't went thru the CV's yet. Right now I want to see if they work. If not can you point me in a direction. I've tried putting to factory cv code. But I don't know if I'm doing it right.

      That's really strange that some of your locos run, but some don't. You could try setting CV8 to a value of 8. That should reset the decoder.

      I was looking at one of your videos on hooking up a program track. I have an NCE POWER CAB. I'm not sure but will the power work with the programmer or is it only PRO Cab?

    Do these engine come with sound already in them? I'm having a hard time finding this type of engine

      This particular loco was an older release. Manufacturers are still producing the SW1500 I believe. Which anything recent should be available with sound.

    Good timing on posting this video; I have been stocking up on "DCC ready" locomotives that are going to need this operation - as soon as I get my layout built.

    One of your best videos. Excellent editing. I had a couple of failed attempts with adding dcc but it was to older non dcc ready locomotives. Your recent adding dcc videos to dcc ready locos has renewed my confidence that I might try the dcc ready route.

    Sweet sounding installation. How much were the parts for this application?

    • @DGModelworks
      @DGModelworks  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks George! The decoder and speaker costs around $95. That's it as long as you already have the glue and styrene. If not, factor in a few more dollars of course. Also this decoder will need the sound file programmed to it. Some retails will do that for you for free. In this case I did it myself since I have the programmer. Hope this helps.

      @@DGModelworks I have an Amtrak version of this and I'm looking at installing DCC & Sound Could you link me to the parts you picked: (I.e. Decoder, Speaker, etc just the basic essentials not including things like Tape, the Boards you used to hold the speaker.)

      @@awsomemanxl2bryce412 Just curious if you have the Lokprogrammer...The ESU decoder I bought comes without a sound file, and needs loaded onto it. If you don't have it, you will need to purchase from a place that does it for you.

    Great video. I noticed you are a loksound guy. I have a couple loksound 5 boards and decoders from my scaletrains locos, would you be interested in them. Two tier 4 gevo boards and decoders and one 21 pin decoder from a walthers tier 4.

    • @DGModelworks
      @DGModelworks  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Yes I am a Loksound guy. Are the ones from the Scaletrains from their Rivet Counter or Operator series locomotives? The factory ones from the Walthers locos are limited function decoders without the ability to change the sound file.

    • @CAT42481
      @CAT42481 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DGModelworks They are from rivet counter Norfolk Southern units . Will have four more when my preorders are filled from scaletrains. I like soundtraxx and used the decoder buddy to convert over from loksound. I also have one dash 9 NS board as well. Will have more of those soon too.
