My mother use to play this every Sunday when we had to clean up the house and my father use to come out the bedroom and start to sing and dance with my mother R.I.P. MAMA AND POP'S
"Misty Blue" was Dorothy Moore's biggest hit in 1976. She had some other ballad songs that became hits such as "Funny How Time Slips Away" & "I Believe You".
I'm 72 - this was my first time hearing Dorothy Moore too. She's fabulous! The great female bluesy singers seem to hide in the shadows. Dorothy, Etta James, Nina Simone, Barbara Lynn, Barbara Lewis, etc. I like the 6/8 beat on this song - it's such a famous rock motif. When did it disappear?
I've been listening to this song for many many years, it's on a weekly playlist of mine with Etta James and a few other extremely talented female blues singers
Dorothy's voice is incredible. Sadly she never got the props she deserved. She should be up there with Aretha. This was a massive hit when I was a teenager and I can remember who I was dancing with when it first played at our local dance hall. Very sad but so romantic!!!
This has been my most favorite song of all time. Thank you for listening to Dorothy Moore. She's amazing. Don't rely on 'likes'. That's just one person's TH-cam page.
I was a kid when this song came out, and I couldn't really understand the sentiments she was expressing. But my uncle LOVED this song. Seeing his emotional reaction to the song made me love it-- and I do to this day, for more reasons than one!
This is on an old late-70's compilation album I have, called 'Midnight love affair'. I've been playing it regularly since the early-80's, & it's still the best album I own.........bar none!!
Love this song . All of these oldies you are getting into were so good , and hearing them makes me realize how much the music impacted all of us - our moods and wishes for a better world even so many years ago! Thank you !!!!
This song always holds a special place in my heart ! There have been so many different versions of this song and are all beautiful. You guys should listen to this other versions by Monica &Mary jblige sang a duet and definitely listen to Etta James version
This is another of those songs that, just reading the title of your video, I could already hear her singing in my mind! It's so crazy good what music does to us.
Thank you for showing this great music,It is becoming forgotten and that would be a real shame! And Mel you have really beautiful voice I wish you would sing us a song sometimes!
I have always loved this song. 💘 It takes me back to my Navy days, or actually immediately after my Navy days. You can feel every word she sings way down deep inside. 💘💘💘💘
I was 12 years old in 1976 when I first heard this song! Been in love 🥰 with it ever since! I listen to it practically everyday! So, I’m crying 😭 my eyes out right now while watching you guys react to it! You guys are fast becoming my favorite! Thanks 🙏 for the early Christmas present 💝 p.s. I just knew that you two would love the song just as much as I do! I was like, wait for it! wait for it! lol 😂😘
When this song came out in 1976, I was 15 and this kind of music wasn't my cup of tea. However, having gotten some years on me now, I totally appreciate the soulfulness of her voice, her impeccable delivery and the gorgeous production. To use a worn out phrase, they don't make 'em like this anymore.
Now you should try another great Soul singer; Linda Jones, singing “For your precious love” you will get the chills hearing her vocals! Sadly she past away at a very young age!
This song is a Masterpiece I loved it and her voice since I first heard her when I was 5 I'm 32 now And her voice and songs makes me feel and cry to so much Pain And Hurt And Anger Omg,but this song with her voice just breaks me every time
a lot of people born in the late 80's and up, miss the whole point of true music, they want to be entertained with special effects, and stage acting, that they miss the music and words, 50's 60's & 70's brought in fans by the sounds of good music and their voices, no special effects on stage, just them and the band. we need that back, but until then, i;ll keep watching all who have a channel like this, so i can see it in your eyes and your movements, then i know it hit you, have a great day everyone.
This trackkkk!! I sing my heart out to this with my sister when we have a few beerzies🍻 mind you I’m 21 😂 I’m not ashamed to say that I was brought up with this music and this is all I listen to, we’ll majority of the time. Love from New Zealand 🇳🇿❤️ I’m here for all the old tracks!
I went to a show one time when she was one of the acts. She song this song while they had a blue spotlight on her. Everyone in the building was rocking to this song. Much love. You need to check out Benny Lattimore singing Around the world.
One of my favorite songs of all time! One song that was one of the biggest R&B hits of the 70’s, brings back so many memories . And still a radio staple on classic soul radio everywhere!
Dorothy Moore did a good job with this song, but also Wilma Burgess(1966) Written by Bob Montgomery (1966)it was recorded by Eddy Arnold (1967) top five Country Hits, Moore (1975) this flip side of "Here It Is " and recorded by Billie Jo Spears (1976) on the country charts.
This song was played at my senior prom. Wow, this brings back so many happy memories of my senior year. Now I'm happily married for 40 years, 5 grandkids, 4 grown beautiful children. Just reflecting back, how fast the years have gone. Thank you for the beautiful memories.
I didn’t forget about her but I haven’t heard this in so long… The lyrics and the singing in the deep down meaning, it’s a song to goes to your core when you care for someone. That’s with the music of the 70s did from these groups and these focus very profound and what they did
This song is so beautiful it brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. Also, a sad note, years ago when Twitch was on So You Think You Can Dance, he danced to this song. That dance was fantastic; I will watch it over and over. When I heard of his death, I cried all week. RIP Twitch you will always be a part of my heart.
One of the best songs of 1976. Such an incredible R&B voice. Dorothy had several hits, but with a voice like that she should have been much bigger.
Beautiful song but 76 brought quite a few great songs by different artists
@@johnness2457 I said "one of".

Man, I love this song. Even though it was released in 1976, it's really a throwback to the beautiful 12/8 soul ballads of the 1960's.
I was a kid when this song came out, and I couldn't really understand the sentiments she was expressing. But my uncle LOVED this song. Seeing his emotional reaction to the song made me love it-- and I do to this day, for more reasons than one!
OMG, loved this song when it came out in 1976. I loved this so much I wore out the vinyl record album to white. You could relate to the words. ❤❤❤

Thank you so much for this !!
Dorothy Moore the Queen of Jackson Mississippi Soul, saw her perform this song in Tunica Mississippi back in the 90s
love lost never to be found again that is a heartbreak hotel song
You should React to Natalie Cole “Our Love”… It’s so fitting to YOUR LOVE!
Oh yes! That's another fantastic song I've loved since I was little
Now you should try another great Soul singer; Linda Jones, singing “For your precious love” you will get the chills hearing her vocals! Sadly she past away at a very young age!
You better know what to suggest!!!! Yes! 😍🥰😍🥰
You should check out "Woman to Woman" by Shirley Brown, she is a person that is oft overlooked much like Dorothy Moore.
Also Elkie Brooks 👍
Mannn… that is an anthem in the black community, lol 😂 ‘Hello Barbara, this is Shirley.’ Several of us know that opening line, alone, all too well. 🤣🤣
I was thinking the same thing
Wow!! I can’t believe I’ve never heard this song. What a beautiful song and her voice is amazing. You can feel her love.
This song is a Masterpiece

We had the best music, this came out when I was 12 and had my first boyfriend. It wasn't a sad song to me, it was just romantic sounding.
I was once a restaurant manager in Jackson, Mississippi and Dorothy came in for lunch and I was mighty glad to comp her ticket. Pretty lady.
Thank you. I haven't heard that song in decades.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
