There's not a company or franchise less deserving of pre-release hype or expectation-building. They know just what to say in this phase of development to start the hype cycle amongst the fanbase, making the inevitable delivery and excuse-making all the more brutal. Battlefield 2/Project Reality was the peak, I don't understand why they can't add the commander in a proper way.
I totally remember playing commander but I sucked at it. I personally feel bf3 is the peak. Bf4 was just a more refined version of bf3. It wasn't brand new anymore and the jump from bfbc2 to bf3 was monumental. Bfbc2 and bf3 are my favorites though. Such good memories..

@@coolguyinc.1555 In The leaked footage they showed some of the weapons in the frostbite it looks like BF4 and the movement plays like BF1 they removed the tac sprint and the movement looks slower
I have no faith in this. Especially after Delta Force doing so many things right the first time.
DICE has bad taste. They will ruin BF6 by embracing the wrong mechanics. Expect empty maps to be the majority, expect limited weapon customization like no extended mags, expect bias toward vehicles, it's like this in every game.
64 player limit was not the problem it was the maps being too big for 64 player. The reason 128 players worked, was because maps that were designed for vehicles were not designed for infantry. By adding more Infantry, maps designed for vehicles felt more balanced. And adding more detail to the maps prevent sniper/vehicle dominance.

I'll take limited weapon customization if it means we'll get a solid BF3 / BF4 like game. Who cares if we don't get extended mags, interchangeable ammo types, Because after launch, 2/3 of the player base will ONLY use whatever is meta, so a variety of weapon customization won't change how fun the game is
The actual peak for me was Bf1. They put so much love into the game it was crazy. The immersion alone is unbeaten. It feels like every match is a movie, if you play operations.
The best part is the sound of the kill streaks tho.
People are still playing the game to this day. Goes to show how great that game really is. Still holds up very well
all of the weapons, and codecs and music and levels.... everything about that game just screamed passion.
Even the campaign was awesome...thats what "trying something new" should be all about...not copying other games' mechanics or ideas (specialists)

yeah but it wasn't a good "battlefield" game. that's kinda the point of this whole conversation. bf1 was a great success in terms of revenue and was a great ww1/fps game, but it was not a good battlefield game as that was when they started to deviate from what made battlefield, battlefield. there's a reason why vince zampella specifically mentioned bf3 and bf4 and omitted any other battlefield game when talking about the peak. it's because those games were battlefield (moreso bf3 for me, bf4 was a step down imo).
When they spout this stuff about it being bigger and better and having more of everything than ever before all I hear is "It's going to be harder to balance, harder to test, harder to optimise, and take longer to download and you can't blame us because we tried oh so hard."
Only time will tell , i don't believe not even one single word coming from DICE and/or EA

The Only good thing is that They aren't gonna compete with COD which is a good thing since that went horribly wrong with the last title. I hope this game returns to its own originality and basics. I hope the destruction feature returns in a more realistic way.
I mean to be fair, they were trying long before 2042. BF Hardline is when they were trying too hard, then they released BF1 to make up for it

Id say the few things i want them to take from cod is the realistic gun sounds and the very crisp gun animations and modeling. I enjoyed cods dmz and i think battlefield with destructive environments could work for dmz. Just leave BR modes out of it.
@@corbinkendall6330 battlefield was always known for the crisp gun sound effects and putting effort into making the sound quality superb. So I’m sure if they focus on actual effort and passion for the next BF game, then I’m sure they do it correctly
They rolled out the whole "going back to BF3/4 roots" when they were talking up 2042 too, and look how that turned out... I really hope they aren't talking shit this time because that is exactly what it will take to make me want to return to Battlefield.

Been playing Battlefield since Bad Company 2 back in the PS3 days. It's very refreshing to see EA finally want to turn around a once great series. 2042 wasn't even a sliver of what BF3 and BF4 were. Lets hope EA doesn't piss it away this time. I'm here for it, can't wait to see more on the game.

you lost after saying BF1 didn't hold a candle to 3 and 4. BF 3 and BF4 were great games, but BF1 is a actual masterpiece of a game.
MAN the immersion you get on the map you stop and just watch the Battlefield, scream, explosion, gun fire, whistle, everything it was a good game. the only complain i can make is that they didn't put the french and russian at the begining

"Fan of Battlefield" is a double edged sword, there is a reason why BF lost to COD. BF kept screwing up the core mechanics. There is no perfect BF game.... Dice always messes something up.

They are planning to launch a community test program *early* next year. So it’s possible that we could be playing a very early version the game soon instead of a week before launch.

@@BigfryTV but it’s still huge for a franchise this big, the feedback they’ll get is something they can actually incorporate and not have us guessing whether or not a week is enough for them to figure things out.
I think that’s actually huge for battlefield, the CTE is what made Battlefield 4 what it is today, without it, it would have been a broken mess.

I’m always going to be an optimistic person and I’m always going to be rooting for Dice to deliver on a good game. That doesn’t mean I’m not smart enough to keep our previous titles in mind. I’ll hope for the best and look forward to seeing more comprehensive formation!
Bf4 was my all time favorite I’ve played it since lunch. But bf1 was an extremely great bf and we haven’t seen a thing close to it since.
battlefield 1 is probably my favorite bf game tbh, and ive put similar amounts of hours into 3 and 4, if they can capture how cinematic bf1 was, and mix that with levolution events and destruction atleast similar to bf3/4 then we would have a fucking fire ass game. But I really have zero faith in dice or anyone in putting out a good bf game lol, I will NOT be letting myself get hyped from words or trailers.

This new Battlefield game should just be called: Battlefield. If EA wants a digital store to sell cosmetics, charms, emotes etc with weekly rotational updates, thats fine but no battle passes. Bring back Battlefield Premium, the core fans of Battlefield are willing to pay for Premium if it means no battle passes and very large content drops every 6 months.
BF doesn't need a new game, they need to update the old ones with remastered editions and continue supporting those games with new content. Don't fix what's not broken, just boost them.

I get being cautious about the next game but god damn some of these people take the pessimism way too far.
Have literally no expectations. Don't even think about the game until the marketing starts, and even then don't expect anything good or bad from it until we can physically play it.
It's crazy that you're showing footage from battlefield 4's campaign. Which even back then was shocking.
They should add the customization of soliders to the game like how the game world war 3 did for the pc two years ago
I can't help but get hype cause "Battlefield" but my expectations are somewhat low. My only concern is that regardless of 2042's specialists, the game was still a terrible Live Service that lacked content. I think the gunplay felt bad, too. If they can fix these 2 issues, then I think they can deliver us a solid Battlefield title
They said that Dice is focused purely on MP, Criteon is focused on single player, Motive is a support studio to help with MP, Ripple Effect is focused on the new mode (Battle royale) thats what the modes should've been from the get go. not portal or hazard zone.

By the way, I agree. Battlefield 1 didn't do much for me. And I'm a 20-year player. To me Bad Company 2 was far more influential than Battlefield 1 I dream is to someday see a Bad Company 3. Please Dice. But, I totally agree that Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4 are what BF people get the most excited about. And destruction, squads, classes, vehicles and great weapons are key using the frostbite engine. Go Battlefield 2025,!!

Everything sounds good (so far), but all players should refrain from pre-ordering just to hold that pressure onto the devs. Also, I’d actually like to see the movement from BFV return, as it actually was one of the great parts about it.
I don't wanna see them call the characters 'nopats' and then the match starts and it says RU US on the spawns 😂 they didn't know how to change the spawn point names 🤣 I hope they have some new devs

Learned my lesson from 2042- as a Battlefield fan from BFBC2 onwards- don't pre-order. The interview is promising, though. I'm keeping my salt pinched.

BF just needs to go back to basics but mix what worked in their last games and maybe add a few subtle new features in. They need to add BF1 & BFVs mechanics with the crouch sprinting and 360 prone and resupplying at stations but in a modern day era. Go back to defibs instead of stims; it would be awesome if they could implement a more complex healing system similar to Tarkovs with the animations and which limb or body part is more injured. Being able to drag down teammates and revive them in a more safe spot. I think they should also have the in game change of attachments, but it shouldn't be like 2042 with the floating UI and it changing on a whim. Your guy should have to open a backpack and the inventory pops up and should have an animation of them changing the attachment to make it more immersive and somewhat realistic, it would also balance the spam.
It looks like they are going to add maps with more CQC areas and urban environments which is nice, hopefully on conquest or rush the map will have areas of large open areas and you have to invade into these urban towns or cities, that would be amazing.
In my day we just waited at GameStop for games. Complete games.

Battlefield 1, even though it was gorgeous, was just a WW1 reskin of BF4, together with the automatic weapon skin roster. I saw no reason to play it as it was the same game to me, plus it felt more chaotic.

Balanced vehicles, the vehicles have been too strong, and the engineer kit wasn’t strong enough to deal with them.

It all sounds good until we see some evidence of it.
Personally I got into Battlefield playing Bad Company 2. Less vehicles and total destruction. Despite Levolution I still miss being able to blow holes in any buildings. Blow a hole in the roof and snipe from it or fire a grenade launcher at the wall of a camper's building to flush them out etc.
I loved BF3 and BF4 and I'm glad you said it that those were indeed the pinnacle of BF. The modern/current era is where it should be imo.
Many people say BF1 was better but it 100% wasn't. Really dull colours and maps, the whole gas grenade fiasco on launch, the juggernaut... I felt it was trying to appeal more to Call of Duty players and leaving the BF players behind a bit. Same with BFV.
I think it's a simple recipe for them. Make a new BF3/4 game. Modern era/realistic, decent destruction of some kind, more focus on infantry and teamwork. Have plenty of maps, with new maps releasing at intervals to keep it fresh (even if they all have to be smaller 64 player ones because of this).
Have a lot of weapon options and crucially, for me, unlocks to work towards. BF used to make you earn new weapons, scopes, grips etc by playing the game, playing the objective. This is what made you experiment with new guns etc. That has to be a feature.
I'm keeping an eye on this as Delta Force is already on the right track and BF may have to compete with it.
Sounding good? BF Battle Royal just got confirmed. They will never learn.

You see they're definitely saying the right things. The real question is how much we can trust their intent.
All I can say is that with what's being promised, if this game ends up another flop like 2042, I will be forever turned off the Battlefield franchise.

if its gonna be good, I'd like to see it named Battlefield 5 as a proper sequel to Battlefield 4. Forget Battlefield 'V'.
Adding a Battle Royale mode has nothing new to offer , having an additional extraction looter mode would be a better experience and can compete with Delta Force.
Hmm dont think its enough with Battlefield moments. If DICE cant reinvent the original teamplay oriented gameplay loop, people will just play the game a few times, and then dump it, and go back to playing Squad or Hell Let Loose, that does the team oriented gameplay loop so much better.
You want to make it fun, exclude PC players from cross play they get faster FPS than consoles players do.
If one of the devs says that the next BF is "ahead of schedule",that's not a good sign..

This would quite frankly have to be GOTY on launch before I even look at it. EA has burned so many bridges that their products aren't even really worth anything. I don't think I'd play a game from them unless they paid me or they make some extreme changes.
I’m not gonna lie I feel like if they do a battle royal or some shit that the base game won’t turn out good I think they need to just put everything they got on delivering us a good campaign and multiplayer experience
One thing we can say for sure is the next Battlefield will have OP jets unless it doesn't feature them like BC2 and Hardline. Not sure why they are the only thing that just has itself as a hard counter. The AA vehicles should be called anti chopper instead because only terrible jet pilots get downed by them.
they still need the 128 player matches, but need to create unique gameplay around that many players beyond just TDM & Conquest
no 128 is dumb for a Battlefield game it creat so much problem for the engine the good old 64 is good we don't want to have does Always bigger 16x everything, that the corpo stuff who say that to catch the eye of investor who think bigger = good
I think with Delta Force on the horizons for early access it's forced EA's hands to get some traction on a new battlefield. Just get it in the ether. I truly hope it hits cos I love battlefield.
I'd not be against a BR in battlefield OR an open world kind game mode that's like an FPS version of Ghost Recon Breakpoint in a battlefield setting OR an FPS version of The Division 1 Survival.
