Awesome video. A couple things worth knowing: 1. You have a keyring in your 5th weapon slot, which is how you see door labels and lock/unlock them. 2. You can use /looc to talk out of character, useful for asking questions. 3. You can hold alt to "walk", which is actually a little faster than default movement speed. I recommend setting up a bind to toggle that on and off if you're going to be playing on Synapse a lot.
oh and please take the advice, since f4 is how you switch cameras, its not uncommon for someone to press ALT f4 while speed walking, so be careful. Also if your interested in other aspects of the world, the medical clinic, often being ran by one Dr or Director Bolton is a more role play heavy and mobile kind of work with its unique stresses for its interns and doctors. if you wanna rebel, there's multiple ways to get out of the city, but beware that the civil protection and soldiers will patrol these sewers and you can get into a lot of trouble, however zombies are being removed for the next week or two so maybe this will become a golden opportunity to learn the sewers and the rebel life. (also this will cost you civic points which are hard to get back, so becareful to not get caught)

Your average livelihood lives off of the stat called "civic points". Have enough civic points and your standing as a citizen increases. From priority 3 to 1. Better priority, better rations, easier time living off of the daily ration intake and even more credits from rations. Basically, this allows you to spend more on things you want. After all, you're such a valuable citizen, right? Civic points also are part of other aspects of jobs. From the Engineer Core to the Infestation Control. I personally recommended Infestation Control at some point as it allows good experiences. Tips for loyalist - Get Supervisor for the Factory as fast as you can. This makes it really popular among players however and its common for players to camp out at the Workforce terminal for a matter of in-game HOURS to get a single full shift of Supervisor. 2. you don't have to kiss ass to the CP's to be a full loyalist. Avoid being near crimes and simply look the other way. All that matters is you aren't in the wrong place at the wrong time. 3. Alternatively, if you can become a Vortigaunt, although slightly more complex, Vortigaunt has the potential to be the best paying role long term. As they technically never flag down unlike Workforce, they get paid for future workshifts, even if they're not doing anything. The Rebel/Scavenger Want to make a living by your own two hands? CP's do sweeps, but when? Its best to know hiding spots, or just to know when to get the hell out of an area. 3. Arm yourself. It can be anything. A gun isn't needed and can be loud. A melee suffices. Its enough to fend off against a zombie! But ensure you have more then a weak shove to get people away. Be it other scavengers or the CP's. Although its better to avoid CP's if you don't have a gun. They're better armed then you and are usually not fighting to keep themselves fed. Meaning they can outrun you. The Combine Sell your empathy away to finally have the privilege to be more then a citizen. Do your part, risk your life, and enforce regulations. All for the benefit of a half decent meal at the end of the day. If there's one good thing though, it's that you'll never have to sleep on the job. The rations ensure it. 1. Read up on the manual and use the Overwiki. The quiz is largely on that. 2. This is a bit of a late game thing and is a bit more narrow in RP unlike citizens. You're meant to play a role after all. A cog in the machine. But it gives good benefits. The Vortigaunt Live the life of a true slave. Even lower status then the average citizen for little benefits but the biggest potential. You're an alien, one shackled but wielding the most powerful abilities. If you just wait long enough, you could be free one day. This doesn't mean the Combine could take away everything, though. Private communication, being able to speak Vortigese. Nobody but Vortigaunts understand. As a Vortigaunt you never have to sleep! (Because there isn't a sleep animation to use) 1. Aside from the test that's purely lore, Vortigaunt can be a complicated role. You have to play it accurately. Study up on what to say and ensure you can type under pressure. 2. You're going to be treated horribly. Both by citizens and Combine. You're a slave, and an alien. expect little sympathy. 3. Although, some pity you. You could ask for food and water and get it, even by Combine. They aren't wasteful. Having their Political Conscripts die on them is bad for resources. 4. Ask for work! Standing around in a cell isn't going to get you anywhere. Vortigaunts DO earn credits and Civic Points. You just can't see it.

Based on dialog in episode 1 *"Between you and me, I don't trust those vortigaunts."*, I'd imagine there would some xenophobia against vortigaunts. Some people can't even tolerate someone of different skin color, imagine how they would feel about an alien.
I wish I wasn't so introverted, these roleplay experiences look incredibly immersive and interesting to me. Would absolutely love to experience them myself if I could. Videos like these keep me invested in these, and I appreciate you sharing your own experience!
@@MrGermandeutsch I suffer with serious social anxiety and I use roleplay as my way to sort of interact with people, I completely understand, roleplay is a really good way to build social skills too, start out simple, find a little community within a server to slowly ease yourself into and eventually you won't even notice it, now I know that's a lot easier said than done but it's what made me personally get through the anxiety, I still do deal with it in game, and sometimes I tend to freeze up Around people I've never met before it's hard but I believe easing yourself into it slowly you might find yourself coming out your shell more, this server however I probably wouldn't recommend joining off the bat if social interaction and being spoken down to by CPs is something you feel would trigger something like that however I'd recommend trying text based roleplay communities and servers for games like project zomboid or even fallout online reloaded! :D
u can play it while being introverted, theres a system where when u type the letters will be above ur head and not many people try talking to u, a combine will be more likely to talk to u than a civ

@@Detheroc8 i have to brush up on my lore wise BUT im not complaining too much, the half life universe is a lot to digest but in the best way possible :D
Okay so I've been playing HL2RP for a long time, and i just want to say, that workshift looks so well layered, so whoever made the coding/scripting for that. is very experienced and i want to praise them.
It's nice to see a GMod HL2RP server actually trying. Old Clockwork HL2RP is always so boring. Citizen gameplay was always just sitting around jerking each other off waiting for the next ration queue, and if you do that for 200 hours and make an application on the forum then _maybe_ the staff will let you play a Rebel or Combine character.
Yeah never had a chance to play that server, I believe all classes should be earnable though gameplay rather than Application but I understand the process
Definitely looks great! I loved playing on lemonpunch, and now nebulous cloud. But an rp server where you talk too and its serious seems to work. All other servers where voice chat has been enabled seemed to me to be just trolling and silly people. Here it seems much more serious
I’d also love to see more of your time on the server if you play more. I’ve yet to see a well made «let’s play» type video series on hl2rp. Even if its just the best parts. This definitely by itself itched that spot!
Wow! This looks to be way more in depth than Taco n Banana was back in 2012.. I don't remember dedicated work shifts and shit like that. I was part of a gang in city 8 I think it was, then after they disbanded, I became part of resistance.
bro that server tells u nothing but man i love it, does anyone know how to be a vortigant or if theres other creatures and zombies do any of u know how to become it?
As a general rule of thumb the community wants to follow is minimal hand holding as you've noticed. Once the server starts up, ask around IC about how to find these things. Things such as "Where are the Vorts kept?"
I wanna play synapse but it just doesn't fit me. I'm too much of a spaz in these hl2rp's that the cops would arrest me on the spot. I was fine with servers like vanilla and then it got set on fire into nothing.
@@MistahCoco maybe give a slower pace a chance? I started out role-playing in garrys mod and I was the same, it's a lot of fun when you allow for some cool storytelling, the biggest thing is allowing yourself to lose, sometimes really cool stories happen when you allow your character to be arrested and or beaten
@@KairuExplores Yeah I guess but I'll miss the admins being ghosts and fucking with the players. I'm just used to a more mingebag approach to hl2rp rather than serious.
@@turfish even varican city has only 15% of it's population serve as policeofficers. And they import EVERYTHING. The half life cities can't really import anything, they need to be self sufficient AND their local civil protection garrisons the vital infrastructure surrounding the city. Having enough combine to do knightly searches of housing units is rather silly. Cooy paste the camera drones from HL-2 including their behavior, ad a POV from their camera and have said POV displayed on screens monitored by a combine. Then you can lower combine citizen ratio to 1:5 if not 1:10 with the combine still being AWARE of what happens in the city, but requiring a certain reactiontimebfor any enforcement action
voice chat is just never gonna do it for me lol. Calling it the "most realistic" might be a bit misleading consider its 45% memes and unseriousness lol
feel free to comment your suggestions for most realistic Half life 2 rp servers, I'm yet to find any server that compares in terms of realism and accuracy to this one and i'm open to look at others if you have any suggestions?
@KairuExplores i haven't played it so I won't comment on it other than that. Theres not a lot of servers around now but back in the day there were quite a few notable ones, with voicechat disabled. In my opinion RP should be be played out like a story cause voicechat is just also super goofy never serious. Theres some servers that are being developed but hl2rp is much much smaller than it used to be.
@@KairuExplores The only other one I know exists that borders on realism is one that wagers on just not being fun in the slightest. It's realistic, but it's just so intense it's suffocating.
@@trashyboiyeee9149 I guess its a certain niche of people that like this sorta thing, this level of RP is fun for me personally, makes the worlds feel real and the people and the stories in them more impactful and believable, slow paced yes BUT when things actually happen you never forget it. but i understand its not for everyone, im just glad some people enjoy watching this sorta thing rather than playing it lol!
@@GabeMiller2SpoonsOfDoom I come from gta and red dead RP servers, so the voice chat is the common norm for me, if you make sure to pick out the rp communities that value good storytelling, good voices and good characters rather than your average darkrp or 100k or die gta gang server you can for sure really get into them. i completely get it tho, because all it takes is one person to completely ruin the whole experience, i feel redM is a good place, some of the serious RP whitelist servers on there you can find really good storylines and characters for me Love all aspects of the voice chat groups, i like a bit of goofy fun but i also really enjoy the serious sitouations where life and death/ good storytelling really kicks in, i feel this server will be a mix of both of these, but i noticed that no one broke character once on here, sure some people were sort of serious and some others were more laid back but i'm 100% excited to see where the stories here can lead! :D for text based servers, i am looking to get involved in some Project zomboid text based rp servers, they look super fun!
The server is an absolute mess. While there is no actual admin abuse, the admins have a tendency towards bullying. I would not recommend this server. Keep in mind, I am specifically referring to the Project Synapse discord server. For all I know, the actual roleplay could be great. If you had a different experience, I wish you the best, however this was my personal experience with Project Synapse.
The moderation team trolls from what I’ve seen. Only people with thin skins can’t tell the difference and think it’s bullying. In your case, they kept setting your name as “Not Female” cause you had a rather androgynous sounding voice and mentioned in the VC with everyone in it that you weren’t female despite having a female name. I assume it was a joke, but take it how you will.
Admin of synapse here... We did not bully you, we simply set your name in discord to NOT A FEMALE when you joined the VC and started telling everyone you in fact are not a female. WE do not care what your preferred pronouns are, what you are into, how you spend your free time, or what gender you identify as. We simply set your name because from the moment you joined the only thing you talked about is how you were not female (nobody really cares if you are or arent, its a game just enjoy the game).
This looks fun for the first hour or so, then it becomes tedius. Waiting in line like an idiot to do the most brain numbing work ever, get outta here. Get a real job and have the same experience and get paid for it.
it's tedious for a reason. we don't want new players getting their hands on police authority and messing everything up. plus, the work players do is not pointless; they supply ration distribution, medicine for doctors, resin for the police and more. plus you can't really become a cool futuristic soldier in a team of other cool futuristic soldiers who specialize in hunting rebels in a wasteland while avoiding alien threats, can you?

@@Detheroc8 i have to brush up on my lore wise BUT im not complaining too much, the half life universe is a lot to digest but in the best way possible :D
Such a cool server and idea but oh boy, RPing standing in queue had me laffin...
Yeah you got a solid point 😂
Oh hey, I was briefly in this video! I'm David Manfrid, you can hear me during a small clip of you collecting a box in the train station.
Okay so I've been playing HL2RP for a long time, and i just want to say, that workshift looks so well layered, so whoever made the coding/scripting for that. is very experienced and i want to praise them.
i don't typically watch gmod roleplays, but this was definitely an enjoyable thing that popped up in my recommended, hope to see more of henry!
much love man thanks for it!
glad you were at the workforce, it teaches you valuable lessons you could apply to life such as: work
It's nice to see a GMod HL2RP server actually trying.
Can't believe hl2 is still going hard 💪 😅
Definitely looks great! I loved playing on lemonpunch, and now nebulous cloud. But an rp server where you talk too and its serious seems to work. All other servers where voice chat has been enabled seemed to me to be just trolling and silly people. Here it seems much more serious
I’d also love to see more of your time on the server if you play more. I’ve yet to see a well made «let’s play» type video series on hl2rp. Even if its just the best parts. This definitely by itself itched that spot!
I don’t think the devs could’ve imagined what the Garry’s Mod and Half Life community would end up doing. This is pretty awesome.
hearing his role play voice has me crying 😂
this server should make an event about some random player join on gordon freeman body and his mission is help the resistance.
Takes place 4 years before the uprising.
bub games will have fun on this one
I literally found this server because of bub games and the fact no one broke character really blew my mind so I looked deeper into the server
he will if he finds a solution for his homeless problem he been posting the past days
Finally people who can actually run a good HL2 rp server and are passionate about it. Synapse might have prevented the community from dying.
Good video, kairu, if we were able to have 128players like you, the server would be legendary !!
Y'all are actually so lovely so wholesome
7:21 It's crazy how even a blue sky is beautiful to them now compared to what they live in in the city
More! I need more! I absolutely love this stuff 👍
Man, just imagine you're a metrocop in project synapse on patrol and accidentally found a rebel hideout, and it all went batshit crazy!
"There's life wherever you walk"
Kinda ironic and funny
@@lautystrike1 lmao 😂
I watch you do a whole series of these videos
Thanks for showing us!
loved that vortigaunt
same he was great! cant wait to see more of him
My mind feels blown from seeing this
Great video man hope to see u around
Wow! This looks to be way more in depth than Taco n Banana was back in 2012.. I don't remember dedicated work shifts and shit like that. I was part of a gang in city 8 I think it was, then after they disbanded, I became part of resistance.
Guess I can give HL2 roleplaying a go again. I just hope it wont crush my hopes and dreams like the others.
Well this looks awesome
walking slow = realistic
This video is awesome!
We need more
will return this weekend 👀
The children yearn for the happy camps and factory floors.
Fire, thank you for playing
14:48 I cannot believe that a CP got struck by lightening if you loo kin the chat
So cool!
think if I played this my characters story line would end in starving to death because I'm too lazy to work
be aware with skyrionn, he is not 100% canon, is like adding some fan fiction to the lore
I'm sure the server has a little bit of that.
@@dankomancer I know but I am talking about Half-Life in general not the server
Been waiting in the queue for this server for 2 days, only moved up once...
Isn’t that the server bub games made a video on a recently, before the “situation”?
yes
what situation? I saw the video tho
Hop on aneurism IV
nice video
No way, guys make ClockWorkRP again...
but without the overly serious vibe
bro that server tells u nothing but man i love it, does anyone know how to be a vortigant or if theres other creatures and zombies do any of u know how to become it?
As a general rule of thumb the community wants to follow is minimal hand holding as you've noticed. Once the server starts up, ask around IC about how to find these things. Things such as "Where are the Vorts kept?"
damn I wish i could play this ngl
servers up right now! just search it up in gmod browser
3:06 "Start moving up the ladder"? Sounds like the wrong roleplay for that 😅
holy fuck, time to reinstall gmod :D
Marcus is shifty
Really small map on Synapse. Could be larger
Grindnapse
how to join it
there's a link to their discord in the description
Is the amount of addons acceptable? I do not want to install 800 million yottabytes worth of addons
I always thought their maps were really interesting, unfortunately Bub Games has utterly ruined my perception of Gmod RP.
I'm just used to a more mingebag approach to hl2rp rather than serious.
great containment gamemode for losers
that's okay we'll have fun in our little containment you miserable sod
@@KairuExplores thanks, loser
Is this server dead? :_( The IP isn't working and I can't find it
no it only runs from thursday night to sunday morning in beta
A bit too high combine/citizen ratio
It's a 1 : 3 ratio, so every 3 citizens there's one slot for combine
@@GabeMiller2SpoonsOfDoom I come from gta and red dead RP servers, so the voice chat is the common norm for me, if you make sure to pick out the rp communities that value good storytelling, good voices and good characters rather than your average darkrp or 100k or die gta gang server you can for sure really get into them. i completely get it tho, because all it takes is one person to completely ruin the whole experience, i feel redM is a good place, some of the serious RP whitelist servers on there you can find really good storylines and characters
for me Love all aspects of the voice chat groups, i like a bit of goofy fun but i also really enjoy the serious sitouations where life and death/ good storytelling really kicks in, i feel this server will be a mix of both of these, but i noticed that no one broke character once on here, sure some people were sort of serious and some others were more laid back but i'm 100% excited to see where the stories here can lead! :D
for text based servers, i am looking to get involved in some Project zomboid text based rp servers, they look super fun!
no trolling? this is NOT the roleplay content i want to see
This is a serious rp, in case you're dyslexic.
Ive always wanted to live in a boring dystopia with admins who rule with an iron fist at the slightest hint anyone is having fun
That's a stereotype, P:S is nothing like that. Did you even watch the video?
You're describing the other trash rps that killed the community. This is Synapse.
I like it but it's too grindy
This is incredibly cringy
@@penguinscrumbles1402 thanks
looks like loser central
true...
Sounds like you're just against having fun
Because it is. There's roleplay and then there's just being an asshole.
It would be loser central if people like you were there.
The server is an absolute mess. While there is no actual admin abuse, a metrocop RDMed me for killing his colleague and admins refused to ban him.
Bait used to be believable.
Sounds like Half-Life 2 to me. You killed a metrocop, of course he’d shoot you back lmao
“Guys i killed someone and then got killed… this is unacceptable!”
you've gotta be joking
@@CryoxR3AP3RX I never did that. Please don't lie.
"I've never played in this server, but I would not recommend it" Thanks for the valuable insight.
Hey I didn't expect to be in your video! I am the supervisor at 8:28, you were in good hands that day I assure you
This looks fun for the first hour or so, then it becomes tedius.
