    Now in 40's I realise that you need specific trainers for specific training
    Running outdoors I needed to go to a specialist shop to get the right type of trainer for the foot
    Basic cardio in the gym and machine work, needed air cushion sole to make less impact on my knees
    With barbell exercises I needed more ankle support, flat sole , elevated heel

  • @theologic_us
    @theologic_us 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Have the 8s customized. Replacing 5s.
    First thing I thought “oh my, I have level 1 weightlifting shoe.” That heel is stiff.
    But after a month as my lifting / daily shoe, that heel doesn’t feel so rigid. And I walk heel toe.
    I love love love mine.

    I still use my metcon 6 for specific exercises. I prefer using metcons mainly for Olympic lifts, kettlebell, box jumps and barbell lifts. For dead lifting I prefer my flat skateboard shoes and separate shoes for running. I don't recommend conventional deadlifts or any running for metcons.

    • @davidsantos1576
      @davidsantos1576 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is correct. I use a zero drop for deadlifts and running sneakers for running. The 6 are great for everything else.

      Take out the inner sole, and you get deadlift slippers with paper thin soles but better upper build.

    Your review was good. The only thing I think was missing was a review or commentary on the insole. I bought the Metcon 8 as an upgrade to my Metcon 4. Granted there are major differences in the shoes. However, when i compared the 4 and 8 side by side, a BIG BIG difference was the insole. I wish you would add a review about the insole since our feet sit right on top of the insole. Other than that your reviews are good.

    I needed shoes to do P90x3. I just went to Sportcheck and tried various shoes and found that the only shoes I liked were the Metcon 8s . I tired size 10 but was a little big so I wanted to try 9.5 but Sportcheck didn't not have them. I walked out of the Sportcheck store and I saw a big Nike store ride beside, so I want there. At the Nike store I tried the Metcon 8s in 9.5 size and these were great and I also tried the Metcon 7. I was doing side to side jumping to see how the shoes feel. I have found that Metcon 8 shoes were much better at holding my foot and were much better for jumping than Metcon 7.So, I bought the Metcon 8 shoes. Suggest you just go the store and try a bunch of shoes to determine what you like. This was on December 9, 2022.

    I have the 7s and UA Tribase 4. The Metcons stay home unless it's a heavy leg day with front squats and oly lifts. The Tribase does everything the metcons can do, but better-especially if the WOD includes running.

    Big fan of Adidas here. Most recently though, my workouts have incorporated more weight lifting. When squatting, stability is a major problem. Not even my Hooka's could cut the job. So this video on the Metcon really grabbed my attention. I literally just returned from the store after viewing this review. I tried on a pair and LOVED THEM!!! The stability is something else. I also enjoyed the grade on the shoe, as I am convinced this was a huge factor trying to squat properly (this after about 2 months of circuit training and improving my stability). I agree the branding is overdone. They definitely don't feel like a running shoe. Overall, I'm looking forward to experience what these shoes have to offer. I'm glad I'm adding these to my gear. Thanks for the review! New sub.

    I do CrossFit and I bought the metcon 7 and I love them I mainly bought them to practice rope climbs. They are comfy I ran in them last week in a workout. They are a pretty good running shoe not as good as a real running shoe but it would be good. I was a Reebok Nano guy until the X1s. They sucked so bad I went to Nike Metcons. I have wide feet so when I bought true to size, they were tight. Now I go half size up on all Nikes. Something I should have known being that I have the Pegasus for running. I have 2 pairs of 7s so I can’t can’t justify getting the 8s when they’re so similar. Aesthetically, I don’t like the split in half design with the billboard sized METCON branding. The heel alone is worth it’s weight in gold when lifting. They do suck very much for any kind of running

    I'm looking for a pair of shoes for rowing. It seems to be between the Metcon 8 and the Nano X2... Any thoughts?

  • @apeekintime
    @apeekintime 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have both the Nano X2s and Metcon 8. The Nanos are far far more comfortable and I get compliments on them. They work inside the gym and outside BUT they are not as good for heavy squat or deadlift. My Metcons are just not that comfortable and not really a great shoe outside the gym. The Metcon 8s have become my deadlifting shoe because that's the only time I prefer them over my Nano X2s. The Nano X2 is a better running/athletic shoe and works fine for powerlifting (just not as optimal due to the softer sole).
    For most people I would NOT recommend Metcons. If you like having a closet full of shoes (like myself) then get them as a dedicated deadlifting shoe.

    The 8s have a slightly more gaudy look compared to the 7s IMO. The obnoxious METCON branding on the inner foot and the patterned swoosh just kill it for me. Also, the shoe offers no ability to run with that heel, which is unfortunate because as a dedicated lifting shoe, they don’t offer a crazy amount of stability either. Gonna be converting over to RAD’s training shoe for the next year or so, but I hope Nike comes strong with the 8s or even the next Turbo

      The short answer is because the pronunciation of Ancient Greek changed in the English speaking world along with the pronunciation of English. The Greek word Nike (pronounced /nike/ or 'nee-kay') became /naiki/ or 'nye-kee'.

    I hate Nike with a passion. I fully believe in barefoot shoes like what you find from xeroshoes, vivo barefoot or other similar brands. Mimicking no shoes at all is best in all aspects. Both for weightlifting, running and just general use. The marshmallow feet Nike and most other shoe companies who mimic them are responsible for the poor foot health of much of the modern world. Not to mention I hate how obsessed some people are on a fashion side of things. Boycott Nike because they’re a terrible company, and they were the originator of the modern shoe design in the 1960s with the Nike Cortez and the book jogging.

      (Also - tell us you’ve never worn this shoe without actually telling us you’ve not worn this shoe)
