Great video. I bought the CAP version of these dumbbells and I think that was the right move. They were on sale for $120 each so $240 for the set. They go from 10 to 50lbs in 5lbs increments so there’s more adjustment than the Flybirds. I’m really happy with them so far.
In 2021, I bought a pair of fly bird that goes up to 25 lbs. 2 years later it still works. Never had issues. I love the quick change of weight.
I also bought their bench. It’s a great option for affordable home gym. I’ve now upgraded to Bowflex dumbbells and barbells, but I’ve kept the Flybird.

Got the Core Fitness early on and they are working great. I like the 5lb increments, that they go down to the handles for shoulder warmup, and that they shrink with less weight and sit flat on my legs.
Followed up with Powerblock chinese expanded to 70lb and will jump to 90lb as I do heavier bumbbell workouts at home.
I take care of both, no dropping or etc, and they are working out fantastic. Still prefer Core for working shoulders outside of pressing.
The flybird is absolutely amazing. Especially for the price. Had mine for a year now and I still have no broken toes from falling plates.

Bought a set of Merax adjustable dumbbells a couple of years ago, they were Bowflex 552 knockoffs but were listed in metric and went up to 32.5 kgs (71.65 lbs) each. Came with a rolling stand, still using, they work great!
I am in Canada, even in our smaller market I see tons of knock off Blow Flex for real cheap - even less than these dumbbells. I think these ones purely made it big on the Covid shortages as it doesn't compete well as designed

Best budget dumbbells are the blue nordictracks (55 lb) at $200 when they run sales. The newer versions are the orange ones (55 lbs) and still budget friendly at around $300 for the set. 2.5/5lb increments with semi knurled metal handle, flat sides like the nuobells, and fairly quick change speeds. I will admit, the change speeds are not the fastest and the dumbbells do have lots of plastic, but they legit feel like traditional dumbbells when using them and they are fairly affordable. Coop! You should review and compare them!
THIS! I got the EXACT pair he showed in the video and have used them 4 times/week for about 10 months and they are SOLID! My only "buyers remorse" is not spending the extra $50-$60 ($269 to $329 when not gouged) for the updated orange pair that has the middle 2.5 or 5lb increments. For anyone looking NOW, with so many options all in stock, I whole heartedly agree that these are the budget option to go for, and would LOVE for Coop and GGR to review them. Lowkey tempted to see if a friend wants to buy my ProForm blue ones off me and go for the NordicTrac orange ones to get more weight options inbetween.
Interesting. I like the fact that the dumbbell gets shorter when you choose a lower weight. I already have the Bowflex, so I'm not going to get these unless mine break (they are 7 years old, so might happen any minute now)...But I admit these Norditrack are a lot better.
Would like to see reviews for these. Had my eye on them as a good option. Also, a breakdown of good folding adjustable benches would go well with these or other adjustable dumbbell reviews. Both are good for people on a budget who don't have a lot of space.
I have the updated orange ones and they work flawlessly, been using them for 6 months. I’m surprised nobody is talking about them
The orange Nordic track 55 ones look very similar to the pro form ones that Coop mentioned in the video at 9:33 except the Nordic also allows +2.5/+5 increments. Agree it's a great dumbell, but it does feel "unbalanced" (it's bottom heavy) but not a deal breaker. Also you can adjust the weight without the tray. Would love to see them review it!

Everything was secure and in good shape. No weird smells. The weight changing mechanism is really smooth and straight forward. Changing weight is really fast and easy. Though the handle is plastic, I don't think it will be breaking anytime soon. So far pretty impressed after my first session with them. I was afraid they were going to be too wide at first, but I didn't have any issues with them while doing upright rows.

For the gladiator rack you can add your bar to the rack a hook from dewalt that is rated at 50 pounds each so add one on each side for your specialty bars like trap bars & ssb. Cheap and easy if you already have the rack.
Excellent review! When Bowflex first came out with the 560's (5 lbs to 60 lbs), I was one of the first to buy them. Back then, BF promised an extension to 100 lbs. Then they changed their mind. The 560's are metal and change weights by twisting the handle (like these Flybirds). For some reason BF discontinued the 560's. Thank you for posting this review, since more and more people want home options. I belong to a 24 hr gym, but it's nice to have some home workout ability.
P.S. I tried some of the top adjustable dumbbells, like the ones where you feel like you are placing your hand into a box (PowerBlock Elite). The 560's seemed more natural versus the larger (in width) the 552's or 1090's.

I'm glad I bought PowerBlock Elite instead of a cheap one. Didn't realize I would want to expand as much as I have but PowerBlock allows me to do that and I love it!!

Your reviews led me to the Nuobell 80's. Had them for a year now and I love them every time I use them. Listen I'm a value-focused home lifter. Rogue and Eleiko are clearly great, but Titan does everything I need in many cases, so I go with them because they're cheaper. I empathize with the value-focused buyer.
But dear reader, take it from me: you'll like the Nuobells. They're worth what they cost.
Do a search for the video where a guy disassembles a Nuobell handle...they may work pretty slick but they are not built to last. They use plastic nubs to extend the shafts and it's a matter of when, not if, they wear out. Very disappointing, hope they improve that. Good luck with yours.

It's for the best. Traditional weights will last forever and there's no max weight, choice of bar and far cheaper. I'm not sold either..
Got a pair of the Gungnir Dumblers based on a review by Coop a couple years ago. Definitely my favorite as far as durability and feel. Just took 7 months for them to arrive.

I see several people talking about Core Fitness… they have the same type of twisting handle for changing weight that’s been around before this set you’re reviewing here. I bought them over a year ago, myself.
I use Flybird’s adjustable bench. They make good stuff
Iron master is still my go-to adjustable recommendation for long term use
I purchased what I thought was a pair of these but turned out it was just one of them during the pandemic. They're listing was super confusing. I ended up returning the one because it was just meh. I literally took my cash from that went to Target and got a pair of tens twenties and 30s of the hex dumbbells and I was so much happier.
Just went on Facebook marketplace and over time picked up everything from 75 to 5 lb in a very similar hex dumbbell.
Went back on Facebook marketplace and found myself a pair of power blocks and sold all my dumbbells.
If you're close to a metro area get on Facebook marketplace and trade up as you have the money versus getting this thing that is not really cheaper that won't solve all your needs.
Great content as always! Do have any plans on reviewing octabells? They seem identical to the nuobell, but are shaped like an octagon and are cheaper.
Now that the patent expired on the Bowflex 552s I'd love to see you review some of the knock offs that have been coming out.

Hey Joe, what date did you see for patent expiration? I saw May 2023, but Nautilus appears to have engaged in double patenting (a practice frowned upon by the USPTO and generally unenforceable). Nautilus actually has a pending lawsuit against several knockoff manufacturers that it filed back around June of this year, I believe. Trying to take one last bite out of the apple before expiration.

I've used the Core Fitness dumbbells a few times and am very impressed. Possibly the best adjustable option, and I'm considering buying. I'd sure like to see a Garage Gym review of them.

I have a set too. They are nice. I use Ironmaster QL DBs plus CF if doing circuit work. Works awesome.
Video Idea.... Best lunch box to fit meal prep containers and your typical 64 oz. water jug or bigger. Slightly off topic but I think a good everyday essential that I haven't found the perfect option for. Ice/ Coolness retention, Cooler space, etc....

The killer for these for me is the 11 to 22 jump. If you have one of those low weight physio type exercises that you need to do but 11 is just a bit light, it's straight to 22 for you.
Same. The weight increments make them totally unusable to me, you just cannot jump 5kg at a time when doing weights in most cases

I've had my Bowflex 552 since 2007 and have not broken a plastic plate yet. I don't know what people are doing with their weights but they are PLENTY strong enough for average use.

For people who want good quality and are serious about lifting heavy in a small footprint then the power block set is the move. They are expandable and way more durable than anything else out there.
Any idea when are you going to get the upcoming Pepin adjustable dumbells? Also, have you checked the "Snode 80 lbs" its basicly a Noubell version will full steel parts, would love to see a review on thouse because they might fix all the durability issues that the Noubell ones had. Cheers.
I have the Flybird adjustable incline bench, works for me.
The 10 lb start weight is ok for me, if you want lower then get some pink dumbbells. But the 10 lb increment would be a deal breaker for exercises such as lateral raises, where you use lighter weights. The big jumps are also annoying on my Weider home gym, but I found a solution to that.
I guess you could buy some plate mates or other magnetic attachments to get to smaller increments. I have the Nuobell 80 pound ones and they are amazing. Well worth the investment, unless you are on a small budget. I stepped up from the Bowflex ones, which lasted over a decade until the little nibs on the individual plates started to wear and make them slide off. Still, that was after a great deal of use, so I can't fault them for that, but the Nuobell's just have more of an authentic dumbbell look and feel, without the long arm of the others. 80 pounds, let alone 55, aren't really that much for compound movements, but fine for most accessories, though I do wish you could expand them to 100.

I bought powerblock. They are great.
I don't like if dumbbells are same wide also when they are empty/light weight.
And also the whole dumbbell need to be in a "rack", what is also not practical if you are doing super sets with light weights.
I always appreciate the honesty in these reviews but man stop the 552 hate 😭they were one of the first in the adjustable game

I’ve had a few versions of these and they all had the same “defect.” I’m not an expert but from what I could tell, it seemed like they were a bit heavier on the bottom so as to sit in the tray better but that extra weight also makes them spin in your hands if you grab them from the top and you do something like an overhead press. Even if you’re on a budget, I’d say spend a little more and get Nuobells or powerblocks
Heya Big Mike, Most brands of adjustable dumbbells have the same imbalance. I made a video about it a while back and how to counteract it. With Powerblock, you'll only experience that imbalance if you use adder weights. Remove the adder weights and the imbalance goes away. In contrast, every single adjustable that uses U-shaped weight plates has the imbalance baked into its design. At lighter weights it is less noticeable, but at or near max you can really feel it.

The metal on plastic for the FLybird dumbbells means it'll wear out the plastic even faster vs the Bowflex since it's plastic on plastic.
Could be wrong but for me the best adjustable dumbbells are CAPs 55lb, cost like $140 each, 5lb increments, 10-55lbs.
I have used ProRexan Powerblocks for many years. Built like a tank, and with 2 Platemate 1.25 pound weights, I can increase weight increments by as little as 1.25#. You can’t do that with many competitors’ sets. (I have the extensions up to 125#, but haven’t yet needed over 85#. )😊Can you use Platemate magnetic weights with the Flybirds? This would let you add some increments. But the rounded ends make me worried how secure they would be.
Great review, but I think the audio balance is off a bit on this video. Seems a bit heavy on the left compared to the right.

Part of me really wanted to get them this entire year since they're cost effective but i saw some reviews and some of em' kinda scared me. Most of the one star reviews consisted of people saying they got really badly injured because of the plates becoming loose and falling on them. Idk if those are real or not since i've heard other places that amazon tends to fake reviews but idk anymore man.
I know i have one of their products which is the pull up bar which i've had for months and i love that thing, but idk about these. I kinda wanted a home gym where i have everything from flybird since i love how their products look too. I wish regular dumbbells weren't so expensive.
Get dumbbells with a spin lock. You can add whatever weight you want to. For $200 you can get multiple. For example I have three sets of adjustable dumbbells. No need to change weight during the workout.

CORE Home Fitness has the best 50 lb. adjustable dumbbells on the market. They are $349 for a set. I've had them for 3 years and they are unbelievable. I use them 6 days a week. They still look brand new.

I have two spin lock handles that take 1in standard weights. I have over 300lbs in various plates and Ive spent less than $100 on everything.
The downside is how much space it takes
Please review core fitness dumbbells. It’s another handle adjustment dumbbell like nuobells but more budget friendly and goes 5lb increments to 50lbs.
It's weird how Coop never mentions these at all. I don't think he's ever talked about them. I doubt it's intentional, but for whatever reason he just never includes them in his adjustable dumbbell discussions.

The only downside I've found with power blocks is the inability to include thick handle attachments.

Power locks are decent due to their flat base. Any others just ruin your legs when using them to assist getting weights up for a dumbbell press

Most people that buy this garbage don't really lift and think that the more money you spend the more muscle you build. I like grabbing the dumbbells I need versus wasting time changing plates around on a 2 foot long bar.

I like Flybird products, but yeah those 11 pounds increments don't make much sense, it's like buying 5 pairs of dumbbells, whereas something like the Powerblock pro 50, you get 19 pairs. I see that channel recommending expandable models of powerblocks a lot, but NON EXP models rock, increments-wise, if you don't need to expand.
11 lb incriminates are a big boost. Like the solid structure, cause bow flex uses plastic wrap that chips over time.

Nuobells are a Chinese open mold weights. Many companies sell them. Have you reviewed the other brands that offer them to see how they compare? I've bought rft version in Canada on Amazon. $550 cad for two 80lb weights and stand.
I regrettably have the first version of the Flybird dumbbells. They always get caught up when you're trying to lift the weight out or put it in. Never again.

Review budget adjustable benches
The Kensui Adjustabell ($47.00) CAP 4 pack of 10's (48.00 x 2) and 4 pack of 5lb Cap Plates ($30.00)= $200-210 is a good deal. Not as quick, yet feels more like dumbbells.
What about using a magnetic platemate in 1.25lbs and 2.5lbs so that you get those extra weights?
For different increments you could load one disc on one side by not using the cradle
